RE: London Town
Did you realize that With a little luck is the the only top hit that he never played in concert? Don't know why... I don't know why he didn't play it in the 1979 tour.

RE: One thing comes to my mind...
But there wasn't any collaboration after While my guitar gently weeps, right? I mean Paul and Eric in a studio making new music. It would be amazing to hear Eric's guitar in albums like McCartney or Ram. He made a lot of collaborations with Gilmour in the 80's... Eric would be his own Gilmour in the early 70's

One thing comes to my mind...
I always felt that Paul and Clapton should form a band in the 70's, maybe with Laine, English and Linda. I love Jimmy's style but don't you think that Paul and Eric are very similar as musicians? maybe Eric has more blues influences, but he has a great passion for melodies and sweet songs.

RE: Defense Case 3- Wild Life
Besides, it has an amazing sound working. The sound production is bigger here than in RRS and BoTR

RE: Defense Case 3- Wild Life
The cover, the songs, Paul's attitude... everything shows it is a distended LP, and a good LP too. Wild Life is a great song for me, Tomorrow is fine, Bip Bop is an official jam... I think the masterpiece could be Dear Friend, but is lack of something brilliant. It starts really good and the melody is awesome, but it hasn't got the magic touch it needs.

RE: Did Paul's Voice Really Change?
DreamingofYesterday:
Being an avid Paul listener, I have noticed the change in his vocals, but I don't think it is necessarily bad. He doesn't have the vocal range of his Beatles and Wings days, but I'm starting to grow accustomed to his more bass sound. I still think he is a brilliant singer and that won't change.
If we compare him with others musicians of his age, Paul is really lucky to be a good singer yet. Maybe he can't reach the higher notes of Band On The Run or Maybe I'm Amazed, but how many tones did he lose? He sings since he was 17... is a miracle.

RE: Pink Floyd to release album of new material in October!
I really love the "melodic aperture" that PF did after Roger's gone. They lost an amazing songwriter but Gilmour-Wright (RIP)-Mason are amazing musicians (better than Roger in this, I mean, Gilmour is a kind of God with his guitar, Wright was a genius with keyboards and Mason is a great drummer, but... is Roger a great bass player?) and everything that came after The Final Cut shows how great were they creating melodies. And The Endless River talks about it. Amazing musicians making amazing melodies with their instruments. I can't wait!!

RE: C Moon
jgm0228:
He has been part of sick things his whole career. Starting with One Two Three faw, going through the little diddy at the beginning of Fine Line, anytime something interesting happens before a song, Paul keeps it on the song.
What about the distortion in the first note of I Feel Fine? maybe was John's idea but any other band probably had removed

RE: London Town/Back to the Egg: What if...?
Well, I don't see the way of 'mix' both albums. London Town is soft, with some psychedelic touches, and BTTE has some punk influences and some songs that I don't understand why they're there (Baby's Request, Winter Rose/Love Awake, After The Ball... good songs, but they're not confortable in this album).

RE: Don't Look at Him It's Way To Soon To See
He's happily married with a great woman, he's flying high again (just like in 00's when he met Heather and made Driving Rain). So I think he has a lot to do in the world of music... I just hope his voice doesn't get older anymore. I would love to hear a fresh album like New but produced with just one producer. New sounds great but is not homogeneous.

After 1982 he lost his magic touch (...)
He never lost his magic touch and that's exactly what's so special about him
Hehehe that's true!! but I'm talking about his voice, just that I think his last great vocal performance was in Wanderlust, or maybe in No more lonely nights... that doesn't mean he became a bad singer after that... in fact, i think that Flaming Pie has a great vocal execution in every track, but in a different way. About Hughes, he's the only one who keeps singing just like in the 70's (or almost). His throat is a miracle, because he's a metal/hard rock singer since he was young.

RE: Defense Case 1- Press to Play
I think is a bad album, worst than PoP. Footprints is pretty, Only love remains sounds good... but it was done without any big effort. I think he recorded Once Upon A Long Ago in those sessions, right?

RE: Did Paul's Voice Really Change?
Of course it changed!!! he's 72 and is not Glenn Hughes!! The first "dramatic" voice change I perceive is around 1983, in PoP. Comparing with ToW, his voice doesn't sound like a canary anymore, is a little deeper. Compare Wanderlust with any PoP's song and tell me if you can hear that difference. Another comparison: Lucille's 1979 version (Kampuchea) vs Lucille's version from CHOBA CCCP. I know it has another tempo and is essentially different, but don't you feel his voice got deeper? specially in the chorus, when he tries to reach the higher tone (I asked my friends about her but all their lips were tight) Is curious... how many songs did Paul sing in high tones during the 80's? The pound is sinking? Figure of eight? any other? I don't count So Bad because is sung in, how do I say it... falsetto? is that the right word? in fact, he reaches his limit in Figure of Eight, and is a little lower than, I don't know, Old Siam Sir. I feel another voice change in Flaming Pie. I don't know if is real or is a sensation, but I feel his voice is more nasal in this time. In the song Flaming Pie, in The World Tonight, in Heaven On a Sunday... Anyway, I think this: during the 70's he was one of the best singers in the world. After 1982 he lost his magic touch and got a deeper voice. And it's rare, because a like his voice in Back To The World Tour more than in Tripping The Live Fantastic (which I think his voice was really bad... Jet and Band On The Round sound horrible!!).

RE: Defense Case 2- Off the Ground
It's a very sweet, soft album. I love it, but is not better than FITD for me. Is cool, better than POP and PTP. Like everybody, I love Hope of deliverance and C'mon People, and Golden Earth Girl really delights me.

RE: Pipes of Peace. Your thoughts.
The tittle track must be sung with a little more emotion... it sounds bored.

RE: Pipes of Peace. Your thoughts.
Ammar:
"Tug Of War"'s leftover except for the title track. this how Paul record's started to go down in the 80's followed by commercially successful "Broad Street" but actually only 3 new songs in it! then the adventure of "Press" which was a way different from any McCartney trademark. I believe 1983-1988 are the lowest years in Paul's career, starting with Pipes of Peace. He didn't get back to his standards till "Flowers in the dirt" 1989
Totally agree with you man. Ideas didn't flow so easily in the 80's because he gave his best products in the 70's and a last big project in the early 80's (TOW). After POP he fell in a professional "depression"... I feel he needed a reunion with Beatles in that time (to refresh ideas) but John was dead. He was in a kind of valley... almost fifteen years with the same woman, his best friend killed by a freak, his best music was already made... it can happen. And suddenly he finds a new partner (Costello), starts a new a tour... he needed motivation and inspiration.

RE: Wings at the Speed of Sound: Thoughts?
Is not a crap album, but it could be better, so much better. Is not better than BoTR, V&M or London Town, just because Paul decided to reduce his own control over the group. It seems to be a good decision but the result is songs like Cook Of The House, Wino Junko, The Note You Ever Wrote... it was 1976, Paul's highest moment of his life... if he wanted to, it would his best LP ever.
