Tattoo signatures - yay or nay?
-
Welcome, Marta--you and I (35) screwed up the age average, I guess. ) We've driven the average age of girls Paul has tattooed up to the high 20's, lol...
-
Yeah I'm going to back up my tattoo girls since most of them are my friends anyway. But really, when Paul doesn't want to sign people anymore, he won't. He's a big boy now, I'm sure he can make his own decisions without feeling pressured. He is the head honcho. It's his decision and if he didn't want to do it, he wouldn't. I don't understand why people have to be Bitter Betty's about it. Just let it be.

lol_lennon, you are my hero. Very well said. wink

I'm with the tattooed girls, too. Many of us (including me) would love to be in your shoes. Haters, stop hating!

At the risk of offending some members of the board, I have to ask this question. I want to know what you all think. First of all let me say to everyone who has had Paul sign their arm/back wherever, that I am thrilled you got to meet him etc. But it seems more and more frequent. What started out as an original idea is becoming more and more widespread. Do you think it is appropriate he does this during concerts? Is it right that some people who also have signs "sign my ___" are left disappointed? I will wait until a few people respond before I give my opinion...I really hope I am not offending anybody
Personally, I think it has become tiresome but then again I am not into autographs. McCartney can do whatever he wants at his concerts so if he thinks it is appropiate then I guess it is fine. I don't feel bad for people with signs that don't get a autograph. You should understand the chances are very slim you will get picked.

I think anyone can ask to have whatever they want signed and Paul can choose to sign whoever/whatever he wants -- just that the tattoo thing has lost it's originality. And I have yet to see a man or an older woman get signed (maybe they just aren't into tattoos and so aren't asking -- or maybe Paul just likes the cute young girls. Go figure. : ) If I ever get to go to another Paul show, I want a stuffed Paul doll for him to sign -- or a stuffed Hofner pillow -- or something. But it needs to be something different that would catch his eye.
marta from philly is in her 40's i heard, i am 25/26 in a week.... if it wasnt original or if it didnt catch his eye, it wouldnt work! i mean, when this tour is over, i think he wont do the tattoo thing any more so for the mean time, its working and im glad because i made my dream come true, i hugged, kissed and touched a hofner bass ... oh and it was PAUL MCCARTNEY
Loved your video Loni aka Flaming Pie Girl! Congrats on an awesome experience! BTW, where did you get your "A Hard Day's Night" dress? That is awesome!

Paul does something SPECIAL with each tour....this time it's TATTOOS......and TRUST me he is not embarrased or feeling Awkward to do it....he is a REAL person who has as much fun in his life as he can and I truely believe he is having FUN with it. To aakiboh.....if you dont know the difference between Paul ACTUALLY signing your arm, leg.etc. and getting a copy off the internet to have it tattooed...then.....you might not be a TRUE FAN...sorry. TO ALL THE GIRLS out there with Paul tattoos.....GOOD FOR YOU!!! and congratulations!!!!
-
Thanks for the well wishes, Patricia, amaddy, and all who I am forgetting. After 35 years of wanting to meet Paul, getting my few minutes with him off stage and then a tattoo on top of that has left me amazed, even two or three weeks later. oops Any time you get a chance to get to be within a few feet of Paul, no matter what the reason, I would hope fellow boardies would appreciate, not denegrate. wink
-
Your welcome....and to aakiboh I apologize ..I realized after the fact that it wasn't you who wrote about Paul feeling Awkward about signing people...sorry about that......and congrats on the tattoo.....
-
OK, I didn't get my tattoo in Pittsburgh (maybe I was too frumpy after all!) but congrats to those who did. I am indeed happy for you and very happy that it happened to true Paul fans. My only complaint about the tattoo trend at this point is that the signs are getting a little bit obnoxious. (I'll even throw my own signs in there.) I was EXTREMELY conscious about not blocking anyone's view EVEN WHEN PAUL WAS BETWEEN SONGS (that's my favorite time to watch him). I am not so sure others are being quite so considerate. So from that perspective, I would like to see the trend die off, but am happy that some of his fans have gotten this special treat. The 2nd night in Pittsburgh there was a girl sitting behind me with some sort of tattoo sign and she kept running up and down the aisle with it jumping up and down like crazy, even after Flaming Pie Girl was already up there. THAT got old, I have to say. All in all, a fantastic two nights with Paul, that's for sure!
-
I was considerate as well, extremely. I would only hold mine up between songs and only if Paul was looking in my direction. The people around me kept telling me to hold it up even though he wasn't looking..perhaps if I held it up the whole time between songs I might be a signed lady.

Hi Mary...(I'm sure you are NOT frumpy) lol.....I just wanted to say that I have gone to at least 10 PAUL concerts since the 70's and there have always been people holding up signs.....maybe not PLEASE TATTOO me but...I love you Paul...Marry me Paul...etc. so I dont think that will ever change.......I think Paul enjoys the signs ,and I am sure he likes the people who are on their feet dancing through the concert instead of sitting . So happy that you enjoyed the shows.....
-
I don't think he's doing this "tattoo signing" at "every show" as some are claiming here. I'd like to know exactly how many he's done. He didn't do it at either show I've attended in 2009-10. I've heard of about three or four since he signed the first one at Halifax. I also doubt he's "resigned to it" or that he will be doing at every concert for the rest of his career! But if he wants to sign someone's arm or wherever so they can get a tattoo, that's his choice.
-
As far as I know in KC and Charlotte no one was signed. I believe there's been 13 people all together signed, on stage and off.
-
I've been keeping track, for obvious reasons ( wink ), and it's right in the 13 to 15 person mark. Given that, I don't think that it's gotten old, by any means, as the number of albums that Paul has signed over the years far outnumbers 13 to 15, as does the number of autograph books, etc. Again, Paul is having fun doing the on-body autographs, and doesn't seem at all embarrassed by it, so why knock it? Also again, it's not like the casual fan or first time concert goer is asking for a tattoo from Paul, we're all hardcore fans, so what is the problem? We all love Paul, so let's appreciate Paul's concerts and music instead of being negative. D

PAUL PLEASE SIGN MY COIN SLOT.

Oh, I know there have been signs all along (I had one in Atlanta in 2002 for sure) but seems to be more now with this tattoo evolution. I do think Paul enjoys reading the signs -- I love it when there are particularly clever ones. I just do not seem to be creative enough for Paul to acknowledge one!!

i dont get it! why all the hate? why is it bothering some people? and that its getting "old"? i mean are you going to every show on this tour? or did you see it happen once? when he picks some one to come on stage, they represent every one! all macca fans.... is it old when he brings kids up on stage to sing and dance with him? no ... so i do not see the difference! i mean yea alot of the signs now are asking for tattoos.... i only held mine up during song breaks, and if he was looking in my direction! and i got yelled at by a lady to put it down DURING THE PART that paul talks about how he loves the signs... and then he read mine out loud and they put it on the big screen! if i listened to the sour puss lady than i wouldnt have a tattoo... you paid for the seat, you dont have to sit in it and when you walk in with a sign and the guard doesnt say anything, then you have every right to hold it up! i dont see it any different as when there are 6 foot tall men in front of me because im 5'1 lol so i mean i always have a hard time seeing!! but seriously this tattoo thing has become part of the show, and when paul doesnt want to do it, he wont! he CALLS THE SHOTS! he is SIR PAUL! i mean i think now that he is getting older he really wants to make the most of it and meet fans during the show and make a dream come true. and if you have a sign and you dont get picked... hasnt your dream come true already??? you are at a paul mccartney concert after all!!! thats a dream in itself! i mean and if you have a sign, your prob up close, so that is a dream too, to see paul from the floor!!! lets all just love the whole show and let us girls enjoy our moment with paul and our tattoos that remind us every day! thanks

Amen, sister! By the way, BarbB, what is a coin slot, lol? lol
