The Song Everyone Loves........But You .

English Tea I know the spirit that the song is in, but it doesn't do it for me. Funny enough my ex wife liked it. Hmmmmm..........
Now that you mention it, I don't really like that one either. It's okay but I think Paul is better than that stupid descending chord progression.

Macca Mad:
I'll start with Calico Skies off Flaming Pie. Love the album but this song from the first listen till now has always been my least favourite, it just does nothing for me. Now I know i'm on my own here as i've seen many a person say it's their favourite, which is great. So come on tell me which track do you not get, but every other Macca fan loves to bits !
Practically the entire RAM record. Inane lyrics (3 Legs), horrible vocals (Monkberry Moon Delight), the boring (Heart of The Country) to the cheesy (Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey). If it was not for "Too Many People" and "Ram On", this might rank as one worst McCartney solo records.
-
Wow, and RAM is one of my ALL TIME FAVES of Paul's!!! I can survive any Paul song, but I am to the point that I change the song every time I hear Junior's Farm. Never liked it to start, but heard it sooo many times on Wings Greatest, that I have to grin and bear it to hear it these days.

"Back Seat of My Car" -- Somewhere, buried under the unintentionally hilarious production and more false climaxes than a $1,000 hooker, there's the germ of a decent little song. As recorded, it's self-parody. The medley on "Red Rose Speedway" -- Paul channels Bobby Sherman with disturbing accuracy.
-
The medley on Red Rose Speedway or should I say half of it, the Hands Of Love & Hold Me Tight parts to me are two of the worst things he's done. However I never mentioned them as I dont recall many Macca fans holding it up in high esteem....hell the man himself overlooked it when he was telling everyone the medley on MAF was his first scince Abbey Road !

i dont agree but your post was funny! okay, maybe it is a bit overproduced.but i still love it.its funny because when i first bought that single from a second had shop when i was a kid i thought the 'speed' was fucked on my record player.

Oh and I forgot to mention Mrs Vanderbilt...
You forgot to mention that you don't like it? Serious? No, not serious, right?
-
She's A Woman My love don't give me presents. I know that she's no peasant, I don't like that "peasant" line. Horrid.

i would have gone for the horribly overated 'mr bellamy' but i dont think its seriously considered to be anything more than 'filler' to anyone out there but 'memory almost full ' fans.
Now I'm a big fan of MAF and I know You're not. You probably also know I think Bellamy is one of Paul's all-time best tracks but this is my completely objective observation: It seems like when most of the people that don't like MAF have to pick tracks they don't mind, they go with Bellamy. I'll admit right away that most don't like MAF but I DEFINATELY dont think the majority see it as filler. My choice is House of Wax. Just this awful spash of nonsense noise. One of Paul's worst all time vocals. I can't even understand the lyrics.
This is why it is great to read different opinions. I love "House Of Wax" and think it is a great McCartney vocal with killer guitar solos. BTW - I really like MAF but it is not as good as CHAOS.

"Back Seat Of My Car" seems like it was supposed to be a "tribute" to Brian Wilson style harmonies that unfortunately failed.

"English Tea" was ok but I don't think it was ever a song everybody loved from CHAOS. If you did not like a song like "Too Much Rain" which I think was universally admired, then it might be different.

I really hate Uncle Albert. I don't know why a lot of fans like it.
I have to agree with this...it's so annoying to me. I can't shut this song off fast enough.
-
I will just say I don`t love Mull of Kintyre.......Much at all.
-
These may be repeats (b/c I haven't read through the entire thread, yet). But...mine are Let 'Em In & Lady Madonna. In fact, Lady Madonna is one of my least favorite Beatles songs. Nobody agrees with me on that...I don't hate it..just does nothing at all for me. And Let 'Em In is just silly.

Yankeefan, Good to hear from you again. Too Much Rain is good. I think I prefer MAF slightly more to Chaos. Both great albums, but Chaos could have used something like I Want You To Fly in place of English Tea. Tea is ok, but not really my cup of tea (yes, pun intended....)

I think every song on Chaos is incredible and I think it's his best album even over Band On The Run! Memory Almost Full has some weaker moments for me, but it's still great. And then there's Electric Arguments, another classic by Paul and one of his best albums ever. The one that really disappoints now on listening is Driving Rain. I'm glad he toured behind it, but some of it is downright embarrassing to listen to with others. Especially if you're trying to convince them Paul is a great artist. Still it's better that he put that out than nothing, and it has about 5 great moments. We should all have bootlegs that sound as good.

i agree with most of your observations about pauls 'recent' albums. however i could easily accept that you dont care for 'driving rain'[i actually love it] but i would like to know what you think is "downright embarrasing' on that album. : : to me theres nothing on 'driving rain' that gets even as close to 'bad' as the likes of 'english tea' or 'gratitude' from 'chaos' and ' memory' respectively. : driving rain has the odd raw vocal at times but i cant think of any track on there that is really that bad.
