Where Were you when George died?
-
I was in junior high. I had just woken up and was laying in bed. I heard my mom on the phone. She was in the hallway and had mentioned his passing on the phone. I wasn't a Beatles fan at the time, but was aware of who he was. I went out and got George's "Greatest Hits" CD...and that is when I discovered the songs of "All Things Must Pass"

I had just gotten into my car to go to work, and they announced it on the news station on the radio. I rushed back into the house and told my partner (now husband) and then rushed out again and drove to work. We knew he was very sick, so it wasn't a shock. I'm sure the stabbing (and the cigarettes) contributed. Such a shame. I was glad that there was one more album, though, as I had remembered he was working on a new album before the stabbing and I didn't know if anything would ever come of it. So at least we did get that one last statement of how he was feeling about life and the world.
