TOTALLY UNEXPECTED songs/moments @ McCartney concerts

I agree - 2005 was awesome!
-
Why did he miss a verse of Jnr.s farm? If he likes doing it surely he'd do it all.

I read somewhere that he wasn't a fan of his own lyrics in this song(!), so i thought this song was going to be completely off limits. But it is completely awesome that he's happy to perform it at all. Plus as i said in another thread it's great as it is and it packs a punch. The extra verse adds nothing so...i say leave it out!

Can't agree with you there at all, if you play the song you play it properly. If he can play bloody Dance Tonight all the way through he can play Junior's Farm complete. He did the same with Rock Show too, just as you're into it, he jumps into Jet, it's a little aggravating. It's funny how he elongates Paperback Writer, which it doesn't need, then he shortens JF and RS, it's like treating your children differently, not good.

Is it the verse: "Old Ollie Hardy should've had more sense..."? If so that wasn't in the radio edit.

Sorry bud, but you're off base. They're Paul's songs and if he wants to change 'em around or drop a verse that's his perogative. He's been doing that with the ending for years. Sgt Pepper's Reprise straight into The End. That's what makes a great live show. Changes from the record! And if you don't like it, to quote him: "it's my show and I'll do what I want!"

I didn't know he'd elongated PB but hearing it on y/t I think it sounds good. Wish it was like that on GENY.

audi I was surprised at the 2005 tour(I think it was) when he dusted off one from my very first album back in the days of Beatle mania, Til there was you. I was tunned he would even consider that one from that album. What about in Nashville (I think you were there) Him doing "Tequilla" surprised me. KC
Thinking about my reaction to "Til There Was You" when I bought The Space Within US DVD, you're right. Any other songs from 2005?
For me it was I've Got A Feeling and Please Please Me. But the real surprise was the B-side of She Loves You...I'll Get You! The US Tour was a great setlist! Jenny Wren!

It's the version that was on wingspan...here's the part he wouldn't sing... At the Houses of Parliament Ev'rybody's talking 'bout the President We all chip in for a bag of cement Ollie Hardy should have had more sense He bought a gee-gee and he jumped the fence All for the sake of a couple of pence

One line he wrote about some "Ollie" and he doesn't sing it. what does "We all chip in for a bag of cement" mean?

I have read that during the first soundcheck in Vegas Paul have play "The night before". I hope that someone have recorded this rare gem in audio or video

Paul contradicts himself a lot anyway, i heard him say he likes to play the songs as they are on the records, and not be like Dylan and muck about with them. I'll give him his due Sgt Pepper into The End works, but Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End packs a more emotional punch as an ending. Would fans be so forgiving if he left out verses to Let It Be and songs of there ilk, doubt it.

Had never heard "Petrushka" before until last year
-
McCartney finally did Juniors Farm, yeah he shortened it and I don't know why, the fans don't care about the lyrics, they just love the song! Notice no one walked out, in fact the crowd loved it!!

bag of cement I think would mean...for cement shoes? Ya know...drop him in the water...More of a mafia line.

i thought cement ment a bag of powder that they all 'chip in' for to snoot up ones nose. i might be wrong, but knowing mccartney he would probably deny it now that hes a respectable sort

I guess he wouldn't like either definition.

I would love to see Maybe I'm Amazed back on the setlist in Montreal. But he can sing whatever he want and I will be happy.
