Oh, no! ION just cut it off! I went over to PBS, it's still on there, but is behind, as Billy Joel is still on! Guess youtube is my back-up!
This happened right after Chris Martin played. I was watching the show in a large theater and when this happened, everyone started to freak. Everyone was getting up shouting that they needed to see Paul McCartney... there were so many people hounding the theater, that they finally got it together and went through all the channels until they found Paul!! YAY!! The house settled back down to watch an AMAZING performance by Paul!!
Mr. Spock:
HE WAS GREAT!!!! Absolutely AMAZING the whole way through!! This dispelled any doubt in my mind of his performing ability... He was DEAD ON tonight!
He was DEAD ON!! I was sooooo happy... loved the new song with Dave Grohl.... what a rocker it was! What was the instrument that Paul was playing?
-

That was one of the most historically amazing concerts I have ever been privileged to witness live! It's 4:20 am so I need to go to bed now. I hope to write more on 12.12.12 when I get an opportunity! I'll say this, that was an amazing set by Paul McCartney! Helping to reunite Nirvana by doing a new song he wrote with them, brilliant! Bringing out Diana Krall who wasn't on the bill, fantastic! Closing the concert with his band backing Alicia Keys on the fitting "Empire State of Mind" wow! And playing a set where I believe only one song was a high charting single ("Live and Let Die") threw me for a loop, in a good way!

Came across this set-list for the whole show: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band kicked off the show with: Land of Hope and Dreams Wrecking Ball City of Ruins Jon Bon Jovi joined Springsteen and the band on "Born to Run" Roger Waters In the Flesh We Don't Need No Education Money." Us and Them Eddie Vedder helped Waters close out his set with "Comfortably Numb." Adam Sandler accompanied by Paul Schaffer on piano, updated Leonard Cohen's classic "Hallelujah" with the lyrics "Sandy, screw ya, we'll get through ya, because we're New Yawkers..." Kristen Stewart delighted the crowd by popping up to talk about New Jersey. Bon Jovi It's My Life Wanted Dead or Alive Who Says You Can't Go Home (with Bruce Springsteen) Livin' on a Prayer . Eric Clapton Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out Got to Get Better in a Little While (Derek and the Dominos song) Crossroads Rolling Stones You Got Me Rocking Jumpin' Jack Flash The Who Who Are You Bell Boy Pinball Wizard See Me, Feel Me Baba O'Riley Love, Reign O'er Me Tea & Theatre Kanye West "Jesus Walks," "All of the Lights" "Touch the Sky" Billy Joel Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway) Movin' Out (Anthony's Song) New York State of Mind with "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" The River of Dreams You May Be Right Only the Good Die Young Chris Martin and Michael Stipe "Losing My Religion" Sir Paul McCartney Helter Skelter (The Beatles song) Let Me Roll It (Wings song) Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five (Wings song) My Valentine (with Diana Krall) Blackbird (The Beatles song) Cut Me Some Slack (with Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic with a Nirvana reunion with Paul on lead vocals) I've Got a Feeling (The Beatles song) Live and Let Die (Wings song) Alicia Keys Empire State of Mind Martin

'We Don't Need No Education' is Another Brick in The Wall (Part 2). That Macca and Nirvana thing rocked.

Glad to hear Paul and Co. delivered! Can't wait to get home from work tonight and watch!

WHAT A THRILL TO SEE MACCA ESSENTIALLY TELL ALL THE HATERS TO: STUFF IT! Sorry for the all caps, but I'm so thrilled (relieved) that Paul did so well. You know, maybe he was resting on his laurels a bit this summer and needed a bit of a kick in the pants, or maybe the presence of all his fellow rockers brought out his competitive spirit but he was, as someone else here put it, ON FIRE last night. Here's a mini review of the "Sirvana" reunion last night from Spin Magazine:
1. Paul McCartney plays "Helter Skelter," a couple of Wings songs and "Blackbird" before pausing to explain what we all know is coming: "So I showed up like you do, ready to jam, and in the middle of it, these guys kept saying, 'Well, we haven't played together for years.' So you know, the penny finally dropped and I finally understood that I was in the middle of a Nirvana reunion." 2. So he brought in not just Dave Grohl, not only Krist Novoselic, but Pat Smear too, and Sirvana ripped through their one and only (as far as we know) original song which is called "Cut Me Some Slack" (by the way) even though Macca kept howling (awesomely) while holding his own in shredding duels with Novoselic amidst the fantastic pummel laid down by Grohl and Smear on drums and bass, of course. As predicted, the song was indeed heavy. It freaking slayed, in fact, and once it was played, nothing else mattered.

Paul f****** killed it, yeah! I really think he must have been sick when he played the Olympics and the Jubilee this summer because I can't think of any reasons why he sounded SO much better last night. Loved the jeans and shirt too. A casual stage outfit like this makes him look a lot cooler than when he wears those suits, suspenders and Beatle boots and I would imagine it's more comfortable too. I'm very happy with the set list too and I really enjoyed this version of My Valentine with Paul on guitar. Well done, Paul!!!

I haven't laughed so must in weeks... or is it months? I've just watched the whole thing except everything before Bon Jovi. I have like 30 pages to read to catch up. The others haven't been brilliant tonight, I think, I've been quite dissapointed. But when I started listening the Helter Skelter riff, I started laughing like "He has big balls". Then in the Nirvana reunion I laughed out loud for half of the song... it was Paul with the "let's make a lot of noise" mode on. I think that this is gonna be for Paul like Live Aid was for Queen... yes. Lots of hate and underapreciation then, so today with Paul until they see this and kind of GET IT. Paul was dressed in a white shirt and blue jeans, just like Freddie then. I think Paul though something like "I'm gonna go there and kill it", as Adam Lambert says. He avoided the most famous Beatles songs, Helter Skelter, I've Got a Feeling and Blackbird are not that popular. He played solo stuff, you know... I only missed the Frog Chorus. If he did that I still would be laughing I think... And in the very end I though he would rap with the Alicia Keys song, being sort of Jay-z, why not?

From the NY Times http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/12/12/sandy-12-12-12-benefit-concert-live-blog/
Wow, they did not seemed that enthused about McCartney's set and song with Nirvana. Don't know what concert they were at. LOL
-
Just seen this....... From the album of the film Dave grohl has just made ?? http://www.cutmesomeslack.net/ and what sounds like the end of the studio version:-)
-
I thought the Stones were great! JJFLASH was absolutley fantastic and raunchy! They did 2 songs because they have a gig Thurs and a PPV Sat, plus they were a late addition. The Who were fantastic! Too bad the crowd didnt recognize "Bell Boy". Macca sounded fantastic! Enjoyed his set, but I, as well as the reaction of the crows could have lived without My Valentine. Zzzzz. I liked what he did with Nirvana, but I cant stand Mr Grohl. All rock NO roll!
-
So the new song..well its ok i suppose as a song clearly influenced by the Beatles no bad thing but it doesn't reinvent the wheel,Grohl has written stuff that heavy for certainly his Probot project and maybe the Foo's as well but that aside it was all about Paul's vocals on it and lets be fair here he smashed it out of the park as he did all through his set THAT was the Paul i saw back in Liverpool last December not that croaky mess he was at the jubilee, surely he had something wrong with him that day it was chalk and cheese the performance's and i know we're all glad Paul silenced a lot of the haters. So to the concert itself well frankly i thought it was perhaps the last time most of us will see these great artists and wonder at who will fill the void when they leave the stage for the last time in the next few years, that said i do hope the cause reaches its goals after all thats what it was all about. So who was the star of the night? for me it was Billy Joel the last time i saw him he wasn't sounding as good as he did last night a great performance. Oh one last thing i have to say it Hey Jude was needed last night
-
Great show. Billy Joel was great. Loved Springsteen. And AMAZING VOCALS from Macca. He looked younger too. He delivered and sounded FANTASTIC Nice to hear Helter Skelter open the set. HE should keep it in that spot The really liked Empire State of Mind by Alicia Keys and having all the people we heard about through the night up on stage. Nice touch.

Paul McCartney + Dave Grohl and friends - "Cut Me Some Slack" (live @ 12.12.12):
-
nobodytoldme:
LOOOOL, local coverage cutting out 07:00 sharp, in the middle of the highlight of the whole event.
Hulu pulled the plug on the show just as Macca had finished "Helter.." I freaked out and thankfully finished watching the show on YouTube's live stream.
-
Paul sounded and looked great.....personally, did not care for the set list (to each his/her own) Highlight of the night was definitely "Cut Me Some Slack".....love seeing Dave Grohl behind the drums Loooooved Billy Joel...thanks for the great performance. Another highlight for me personally was seeing my homeboys perform Born To Run together.....amazing! Thought it was an excellent show....still doesn't hold up to the 9/11 concert but loved it! My niece and nephew were there and were so excited...they were shown twice
