A Conversation with George Harrison: February 15th 2001
-
I just bought on ebay a rare interview disc that was a limited promo during the promotion of the 30th anniversary of All Things Must Pass. This interview takes place in LA with Chris Carter while I'm assuming George was doing some work on his Brainwashed album. Because of the date of this interview I am sure this was the last public interview he gave before his cancer took over again. Once I receive this I'll post a review and possibly upload it to youtube as I've been looking for this interview cd for almost 12 years.

I'd love to hear it. George got so concise and intelligent with both his music and what few interviews he gave in those final years.

Hey folks: I finally got the cd and I will be working on ripping it and posting it on youtube and/or fileshare it. This interview CD is Chris Carter interviewing George about All Things Must Pass. It's a 26 track cd but only 12 1/2 minutes long. The tracks are broken down into Chris asking the question and the next track is George answering it. I will combine into a single track. I've been searching for this promo cd for 11 years and finally found a decent priced one ebay for $20. Some of them are going for $60. But since you really are not supposed to be selling promo only cds I figured I finally bring it to the masses; downloadable or youtube. Hopefully it'll be up in a couple of hours.

Thank you for sharing the interview,I really enjoyed hearing George talk in detail about the album. What a shame that he didn't live long enough to talk about the other planned remastered albums?

I just love him soooo much!!!!!!! His voice alone was so calm and soothing and relaxing, and then the content of his speech was so wise and generous. It had me in tears because this was done days before his final birthday here on earth. Thank you so much for so kindly sharing this here, MetalGod!

Really loved hearing this. It was like visiting an old friend. George is missed.

There was at least 1 interview I remember reading in a popular music mag where George discusses his upcoming "new" album (Brainwashed). It was a good interview. Dont remember where I read it or if the link is available somewhere.

I think you might mean the 1999 Billboard interview George did, that was the "Portrait of a Leg End" "Portrait of a Boot Leg" interview. If I remember right they talked about some of the upcoming songs "Pisces Fish" I think he definitely mentioned. Also that was the interview he mentioned his next single "Valentine" which unless they changed the title we have still never heard. I asked Olivia about "Valentine" but she was no help If you google it I am sure you can find the article, there is also a Billboard interview from 2000 which was mostly about the ATMP reissue

The interview you are referring to was issued in Guitar World October of '99. I can say with certainty that this is the last audio interview given by George. He was in LA during that time to do some work with Jeff Lynn on Brainwashed. It was only a couple months before he would unfortunately be fighting cancer again.

Some people look into the future, They're hoping that they'll see better days. It's such a sweet thought, It's something that could be but The past it is gone, The future may not be at all, The present improve the flying hour. One of the lost gems from Somewhere In England, so prescient.

One of his best hands down.

Fantastic interview and find, Metalgod. Thanks for sharing with us. I just bought 7 Beatles' books, some out of print, so I can imagine how it felt for you to finally locate exactly what you were looking for and for such a long time.
