We Need A Flat Tax...A Perfectly Refined Percentage Rate For All Incomes. We Need A Functional Floor And A Ceiling On Personal Income. We Need To Give Working People More Money To Spend On Other Working People's Works.
I have no experience with income tax, so for me it's all very interesting how Americans debate how they are paying too much, especially when so many Europeans pay so much more. I think a ceiling on income might be contrary to capitalism, and something corporate executives will never allow. Giving poor people money is communism. Giving rich people money is stimulus. George Carlin had a good joke about this.
Yes, of course, giving money to the corporations is not communism... cause corporations... that's it... they're not people... it's Corpocommunism or so.... well... Some call it Paternalistic Capitalism (paternalistic over corporations). I have experience on Income Tax, I've been in the Spanish "Department of Treasury" or so, helping people to do the Income Tax. Ok, I'm not gonna complain now... I'm gonna be optimist and say what will happen in the future. "The future" is not gonna be tomorrow, neither the 22th Century, but somewhere in between. I think we, the world, evolve to a Freemium economy, just like the Internet already is. That is, everyone will have access to basic services and then some will have greater income and will have access to kind of "deluxe" services. Even if the USA keeps growing in number of jobs because of credit that will end soon... it's the same old story, the world will stop buying USA's debt, so they will go a similar than Spain and so many countries who endebted themselves massively. Then there will less demand, less jobs needed, same old story, less people having a job. So there'll massive subsidies and also some basic goods will be free or have low prices because of intervention of the government. Free things (basic needs) and not-free things. Then there's the huge debate of what is a basic need and what is not... marketing may make you believe that you need a BMW and Iphone whatever and all that but basic needs are more like water, air, food... And that's not free, Well, air remains free here today, it's a bad quality one though. Some say "a car" should be considered a basic need, well, if all the Chinese had a car there wouldn't be enough petrol in the world to meet the supply... So, there's no way that can be a free thing. There's water, air and food for everyone, but not everyone can have a Porsche. There's not even enough forests for having toilet tissues for everyone. This already happened not so long ago with the New Deal in the USA in the 1930s for instance. "It' happened before and it'll happen again" That's when some basic free services were given to the people. And IN THE END the same will happen again. We're not gonna go back to 2007 ways of all no matter who is in charge, if Obama, Merkel or Sir Paul McCartney... but the change is so huge that it meets huge resistance to change. Roosevelt was "accused of communism" back then, even judged for it, I think, for instance... (Anyway this is so "In the Long Run" that it doesn't matter much now...)

REGULATE WOMEN NOT MARKETS: Paul Ryan Focusing On Jobs With New Bill About One-Celled Embryos: "Lucky you, Amercia, Paul Ryan (R-Complete Tool) is back at work and ready to focus on the issues. After all, Paul Ryan is a Very Serious Person who is Very Concerned about Jobs and The Economy! So when he was campaigning we were all bereft of his leadership on these and other pressing issues, and it was sad, and surely we suffered mightily for it. But today we bring you good news, for he is BACK, you guys, and now that he is back, he is dedicated to his number one legislative priority: cosponsoring legislation that promotes job growth protects one-celled embryos. The personhood bill, first introduced in 2011 by Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga.) and reintroduced by Broun last week, specifies that a ?one-celled human embryo,? even before it implants in the uterus to create a pregnancy, should be granted ?all the legal and constitutional attributes and privileges of personhood.? ..." http://wonkette.com/496338/paul-ryan-focusing-on-jobs-with-new-bill-about-one-celled-embryos

Someone shared these stats with me, but I'm trying to find a trusted source to verify them, but this is interesting: "Romney won 24 states: - 9 of the 11 Confederate states. - 8 of the 10 states with the lowest population density - 0 of the 10 best educated states (based on percent of population with a college degree, median household income and percent of population below the federal poverty line) . 9 of the 10 least educated states - 1 of the 10 healthiest states - 9 of the 10 least healthy states - 9 of the 10 largest net recipients ("takers") of federal money states."

Obama won't build Death Star http://www.opposingviews.com/i/politics/white-house-says-we-won-t-build-death-star Damn, I was looking forward to this. Think of all the jobs. It could have been Obama's greatest achievement. I guess now they care about the deficit.

I applaud Obamas decision not to build something that could ultimatly destroy another planet including our own. love doris

There wouldn't even be a deficit problem if it weren't for the previous administration.

Well, for a start, majority decide the government in the elections. If your opinion is minority it doesn't matter much, so you're not treated the same way. Green Day - Minority
anyway.... -
In America, if that were the case, not only would I not have the right to vote today, I would probably also be a slave.

I saw you guys talking about the Death Star petition. (which I found awesomely hilarious) The "official Response" is a fantastic read! I thoroughly enjoyed it. (and a great pitch for science and engineering education) "This Isn't The Petition Response You're Looking For"

What about building a ship like Star Trek's Enterprise? you know, almost of the inventions that were sci-fi then are reality now... http://ssc0315.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/star-trek-mindmap1.jpg

If universal healthcare makes me a Socialist, then call me Karl. Scene from Michael Moore's Sicko: (Michael Moore interviews a Doctor in UK)

I admit my ignorance, I've either 'written the check' or it's been part of my payplan. Either way, I still never go to the doctor... But "Universal" suggests all inclusive... which doesn't seem accurate. If you don't have it, you get a fine. (Which means you still don't have it.) If we're gonna do it, make it like the schools and police. It's just there. I get it, we get it, everybody gets it!

Sci-fi is a wonderful thing... it's truly inspirational. Really, the whole premise is "what if."

Universal healthcare (a.k.a. "Single Payer System") is the ideal solution, but The Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. "ObamaCare"), is the compromise. It is, basically, an expansion of the current profit-based, insurance system. What's so absurd is that there are politicians who will have top healthcare (that tax-payers pay for) for the rest of their lives, even if they serve only one term... ...yet, they feel that ordinary citizens are not entitled to the same thing.
-
Right. I'm not a big fan of the compromise. All or nothing. As far as politicians... not a fan of them either.
