Doesn't the WalMart one have everything except Secret Life Of A Party Girl?

Whatever happened to just releasing an LP or CD and letting people buy it? I am going to hold out and wait before I buy anything. I need to see what all the "extra" tracks are like, what people think, reviews, and even if NEW concert dates are announced for the USA before I put down my hard earned money.
To be honest all these differing versions of the album in different locales is f***ing disgusting. In my opinion Paul should release another album in 6 months with all these bonus tracks instead if they're worth putting out. Bonus tracks normally dilute the quality of an album or make you realise that they should have been in the original running order to begin with.

It seems "Secret Life Of A Party Girl" will no longer be released in any of those special editions. Here is the updated tracklisting of the Japanese CD: http://www.universal-music.co.jp/paul-mccartney/products/ucco-3048/ 01 - Save Us (produced by Paul Epworth) 02 - Alligator (produced by Mark Ronson) 03 - On My Way to Work (produced by Giles Martin) 04 - Queenie Eye (produced by Paul Epworth) 05 - Early Days (produced by Ethan Johns) 06 - New (produced by Mark Ronson) 07 - Appreciate (produced by Giles Martin) 08 - Everybody Out There (produced by Giles Martin) 09 - Hosanna (produced by Ethan Johns) 10 - I Can Bet (produced by Giles Martin) 11 - Looking At Her (produced by Giles Martin) 12 - Road (produced by Paul Epworth) 13 - Turned Out (produced by Ethan Johns with additional production by Giles Martin) 14 - Get Me Out Of Here (produced by Giles Martin) 15 - Struggle (produced by Giles Martin) By the way, Amazon Japan says the last track (Struggle) was actually produced by Paul Epworth.

I wholeheartedly agree with Sarah. Not all of us are rich enough to buy every version of the Album Paul wants to bring out ! Why not decide what tracks are going to be on your album, and release it ? - end of story ... He could then release any "bonus " tracks as downloads from his website ... job done! If someone could explain all the different versions to me I'd appreciate it. I thought it was the standard, bonus and vinyl editions... and that was that !

So this is a little trick they do to sell more albums and get them in the charts....and I've learned they do this with Star Trek DVDs too...different bonus features on certain store's. It ticks trekkies and trekkers off too. Yeah, pirates are looking real real good right about now....

That practice has been going on since the mid-80's and Paul was doing just that with singles like Press that came out in various permutations which his loyal fans struggled to keep up with. Its the price you have to pay as a fan to keep your collection complete. That was the period however when I finally gave up and just bought one album, one single and then collected all the 'bonus' material on bootleg compilation cds. Back to the 'New' album, with a playing time of 80 minutes, all these bonus tracks could have been fitted onto a single cd album. Its a pity that Paul doesn't give value for money instead of ripping off his loyal fans. No wonder he's so stinking rich? .

well to avoid any pissed off feelings of any kind. I rather just save my money and not buy cd's . just download Paul's songs in installments ( like one dl per month) for like a dollar or something. because I have stop buying cd's for a while. there are ways around things as far as music is concerned.

At least we're not the only ones dealing with this. For Elton John's new album, I've seen: a regular CD a vinyl LP a deluxe CD with 4 bonus tracks and a DVD a deluxe CD with 6 bonus tracks a deluxe CD with 4 bonus tracks and a poster a super deluxe package with vinyl LP, deluxe CD with 4 bonus tracks, plus the DVD and a hardbound book, etc. We chose the one with 6 bonus tracks (from Target). 2 of them are new studio tracks you can't get elsewhere. An obsessive fan would spend something like $250 for all this! La la how the life goes on.

btw I know this Is kind of off topic and everything but I am I the only one who finds the title "Turned Out" on one of the tracks on the cd interesting? hmm I wonder what is the real underlying meaning to that song if it is one. But I am going to leave that one alone.

Given the shameful decision to leave Why So Blue off MAF, it's obvious that the bonus tracks are usually the cream of the crop. This isn't anything new with Paul - such mistakes date back to the 70s and tracks like Country Dreamer and Daytime Nighttime Suffering.
-
Didn't the whole idea of bonus tracks come from the 3 different formats in the 80's with CD's greater running time they'd put extra tracks that werent on Vinyl or Cassette? As for putting all of the tracks onto one CD I expect that it's an artistic point. I mean how many of Paul's albums would've been considered better if they had the fat trimmed and they came in at a lean BOTR style 9 tracks per album? Driving Rain goes on and on and on...

I keep thinking it's probably the modern sense, like "I was skeptical, but it turned out that I love you." (Something like that.)

I agree with Sarah. There's way too many versions of the New album! I too would like to buy one album/collection and have all the new material Paul is releasing. At the most he should release a single single disc version with just the 12 albums tracks, the another version with the albums and a bonus disc with all the other tracks. Really though , ONE release is the way to go. Jeez, Paul's rolling in it so much that he could afford give away the bonus tracks. I actually believe if he was cool like that it would only boost sales. So can anybody tell me which version will have the most on it? That's the one I will buy. Then, honestly, I will look to download the others for free and not feel guilty about it one bit.
I agree with Sarah too. I'm just saying it's an old music biz practice to release more than one version, or put out singles with "B" sides not on albums. Everybody's done that forever. You'll either want to get everything an artist puts out, or you won't. It's commerce. That's all.

True, some of the best songs from the Chaos and Creation sessions were bonus tracks on Deluxe versions. Just have to get the Japanese version. Use to have to wait years for those to make their way across the ocean. Not so now, thanks to the internet! The trick is holding off buying the "standard" version the day its released. Of course you could grab that copy with the extra DVD!

Is anyone excited about the version with the photo cards and the badge (from Best Buy)? Just wondering. Personally, it's the least of my priorities.

I didn't want to link to it (because it is ebay) but someone has on there a preorder for "New" from target that has an exclusive 30 minute interview and behind the scenes from the out there tour, not sure how legit this is because I can't find it on targets website...

Why the moaning? It used to be common practice that singles would come out and you'd buy them and then the album would come out and you'd buy them too, and the single would be on it. The Beatles were the only ones who stopped that practice. Hence the 2 CD Past Masters. But it never stopped Capitol from putting all the singles on the albums in the U.S. Deluxe CD's are just a continuation of this practice. So you have to buy more than one disc, maybe with a little different art work, to get all the songs! Who cares? :
I'll send you my name & address and if you will buy me all the extras I won't care either. Being on disability I have to admit....I CARE!
-
Just for reference: David Bowie is now putting out a 3-disc version of his album from earlier this year. The regular album, plus a DVD of videos, plus a bonus disc of other songs, some of which were on the general deluxe version, some totally unreleased, and one that was only on the Japanese version. Food for thought!

I used to collect Elvis records, and I learned that, even in the '60s, there were various formats of his albums containing select tracks via LPs, 45rpms, EPs, 78rpms, reel-to-reel and on and on and on.
