SECOND SINGLE FROM "NEW" - "QUEENIE EYE"
-
I like the concept of the video but I think the actual video lost its charm when it became everybody and mass celebrities having a photo op. A less crowded video with several more "real people" would have been better, but I actually love the end bit when everybody has left and Paul straightens the guitar
-
I liked the song, but the video, in my opinion, really don't fit the song... if I was thinking of anything to go with this song, it would of been bright, colourful, a load more fun. instead we have....a old lady.... reading a book? johnny depp... sitting on the floor listning to a ipod?????? what I was hoping the vid would be like is a mixture of the dance tonight iTunes ad( except MAKE PAUL LOOK NORMAL, cause paul looks really really weird) and the actual official video of dance tonight( even though it was pretty tacky, was still fun ) and If you wanted you could have it in the studio with all of the people like the one we got but yeah... sorta dark and yeah... not that fun. was the street game THAT boring?
iTunes one ( if you don't know what im talking about) -

I really like the video it's simple but effective it captures the mood of the song . It's quite a party song It would great if this single was a big hit for Paul , it's his best single since Coming Up , the video is kind of a modern version of the Coming Up video spotting famous faces
I disagree 100%. The song is okay but far from the best on the album. It has a certain noisy charm, but it's repetitive and basically goes nowhere. Worse, when considered as a single, it doesn't really fit any mainstream radio format, and it's gotten basically no traction on radio, as I expected. This was a criminally negligent choice for a second single, and I don't think the video is interesting enough to save it. On the plus side, the video is already over 190,000 views on YouTube, no doubt to a burst of media coverage of all the celebrity appearances so maybe it will give the album a small sales boost. On YouTube, it's preceded by a 15-second commercial for the album.
Criminally negligent? Does this mean he is going back to jail when he is in Japan next month????
-
At least he'll know the drill.

I love Queenie Eye, very catchy song!! I was hoping for a really interesting video when I saw the preview clip and all those celebs I heard about, but for me it was just OK. I like the idea of the video, but it didn't impress me as much as I hoped it would. Though, I just love the setting of Abbey Rd studio and I had to laugh when I saw those sandles

Unlikely, but I'd consider jail time for whoever at the label thought Queenie Eye would make a good single. That said, the video -- thanks to all those movie stars, no doubt -- is closing in on 600,000 views on YouTube in less than 2 days. Maybe a few of those folks will buy the album.

FANTASTIC VIDEO!!!!!!!!!! Paul is a GENIUS!!! Then again, I shouldn't be surprised....I love the song, the video, Johnny Depp and Paul of course! :

That seems like a large number of views in just two days. At roughly what point does a video reach critical mass where it earns the media label of having gone "viral" on youtube? That would seem to be at or near that point in light of its short lifespan on there.

Seems to me that a professional video by an established artist can't really "go viral" in the way that's usually meant, as I understand it. Has to be something out of left field, like "The Fox" or "Gangnam Style," right? But still, I think it's got to get into the tens of millions or more to make a real impact, no matter who it is. The above two videos have had 160 million and nearly 2 billion views, respectively!

One thing I'll say for "Queenie Eye" as a single (whether you think it's a good choice or not), it's a heck of a lot easier to google than "New"! You don't even need Paul's name!

I think you are right, now that I think about it. I had no idea those two videos you mention had that many views, incredible.

Maybe i'm thinking a bit too deep, but the concept of the video seems great to me - even on a let's say philosophical level - it just says so much. One of the best videos i've seen in years.

Good video. Great song.

Kind of random, but I'm wondering if "Queenie Eye" is where the Beatles got that line in "Christmas Time Is Here Again" from..."O-U-T- spells out"... I knew it sounded familiar...then I finally remembered where I had heard it!

Any British folks on the board play this as a kid? It is an elimination game, so you do get out as you go, but I don't know if they spell it.

Somebody earlier in this thread said that they used to play it, but would say "Queenio, Queenio!"
-
I played it as a child but we didn't say O-U-T spells out, we just shouted 'OUT'. I think traditionally the chant is O-U-T spells out.

Did QE chart as a single , anywhere?

Did QE chart as a single , anywhere?
Not in the U.S. It's gone nowhere here, even as New has continued to do decently on the Adult Contemporary chart. Not sure about other countries.
