"Tripping The Live Fantastic" finds the radio!

Some good ones on the air tonight. On my way out, came across "Helen Wheels" on the radio. Then on my way home a short time ago, I caught "Hey Jude" and then flipped to the very next station and found "Hi, Hi, Hi". That one caught me by surprise!

I was surprised to hear "New" inside a local mall's PA system a few weeks back...this is in an urban area where Top 40/pop/hip-hop is much more prominent on the mall's playlist, so it was a pleasant surprise

Good to hear that New is getting out there.

For what it's worth in the context of radio, my local classic rock station (like many others) count down the 500 greatest "classic rock" songs of all time, here's how Paul & the fabs were accounted for.... The Beatles 7. Let it Be 10. A Day in The Life 12. Hey Jude 140. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da 142. Come Together 214. Back in the USSR 218. Something 353. Magical Mystery Tour 380. Get Back 386. Revolution 394. The Long and Winding Road 435. I Am The Walrus Paul McCartney 60. Live and Let Die 183. Maybe I?m Amazed 394. Venus and Mars/Rock Show John Lennon 55. Imagine The Traveling Wilburys 226. Handle With Care ...basically, I think The Beatles are sorely underrated on this list, which doesn't happen often. The only group to have more songs on the list, was Led Zeppelin (and of course they had the number one spot). In addition to this, I feel the songs included are very peculiar ones! Ob La Di...magical mystery tour? Also surprised to see Venus and Mars making the cut

I am surprised "Venus & Mars/Rock Show" made it and "Band On The Run" didn't. I'd include "Jet" as well.

I wish Paul would release a new live compilation album like "Tripping The Live Fantastic". Along with "Paul Is Live", and "Back In The US/World", I love that live stuff. A concert like NYC is cool, too, but a new tour compilation is way overdue. A live "Out There" album with selections from Brazil, Bonnaroo, US, Japan, Canada, etc...with the new album songs and the new Beatles/Wings additions to the setlist. What I really loved about TTLF were the soundcheck bonuses.
I wouldn't say that a live-DVD/album is "way overdue." But I agree, however, that the time has now come to start planning one. Disregarding this latest leg of the Out There tour, I would've personally been quite disappointed in a concert-DVD comprised almost entirely by old songs -- with "My Valentine" being the lone newbie. Now that there have been some live performances of NEW songs...now we can start thinking about a live-album/DVD.
The only thing I would add is that there would have to be enough new (and not just talking the album here) songs in the set to make it worth buying. I may have mentioned this a long time ago but the best buy version of GENYC is a good template. 2 dvds and 2 cds of material. Film it somewhere in London where he does enough hits that have never been played live. Throw in a 2nd cd of deep album cuts spanning the entire career, throw in a dvd of said shows and also some soundcheck and backstage of obscure songs. The whole thing could go on tour for him. It would also be a good thank you to those like us who have actually followed his entire career.

Had a nice surprise that made me wanna dig out this ol' topic Went out to lunch a couple of days ago, to a local pizza restaurant. Walked in and sat down and "My Brave Face" came on a minute later. Caught me off guard. It was awesome to hear it. Had to put off ordering my lunch until the song was over. lol.
