So Sgt. Pepper Took You By Surprise?

^^ Then we go back on the merry go round of the fact John was murdered and so we will never know what could have been. It really is an unfair and inaccurate argument to compare the talents of Lennon and McCartney due to that fact alone.
It's like comparing "apples" and "tangerine skies" john and paul contributed an absolutely equal amount of goodness to the good and godly underlying theme... overall...together and seperately they loved each other most often and honestly...like good brothers would

And we will now follow up that message with a few verses of "k u m ba yah", ok, all together now folks...

It all became quite clear to me yesterday. The whole song.
Care to enlighten the rest of us?
Might as well give up Erik. They would rather talk in riddles themselves!
When Corpernicus and Galileo promoted the idea that the earth was round and not the center of the universe...the flat earthians and the self oriented survivalists thought that they were insane...and now...it is a common given fact backmask the word....walrus...study the prefix...sur...the concept of law...and the concept of love...and get back to me in the next 72 hours
dissecting lyrics to Beatles songs while high is pretty dangerous.
you di-sect and pick things apart under the influence of alcohol...ask any battered woman when you are high...you are more likely to think broadly and deeply and objectively about things...ask anyone who has ever promoted love and understanding as a political solution
I know the type well. In fact, the weirdest person I know (and that's saying a lot as I go to science fiction conventions) had to be given an ultimatum: no reading the dictionary while on acid
Do you think that alcoholic men who beat their wives are weird? Do you know that it is the second leading cause of premature death in women?
still trying to see the connection between alcoholic men who beat their wives to acid heads reading the dictionary. the acid heads I knew who did this didn't have too many women in their lives.

I think there was tremendous pressure on each one of them to get a solo album out and be the first ex-Beatle to show that they didn't need the others. I don't believe either of them had the capital for a major studio production because all their money was tied up in the lawsuits. This is perhaps why they sounded somewhat stripped down and a bit similar. As Apollo mentioned Paul was quite proficient on many instruments so it was also probably quite refreshing to do most of the recording in his home studio.
I once read that the Beatles created the solo career. that before them, the concept didn't exist.

That may be so, but Paul still didn't like LSD. And SPLHCB is known as the psychadelic album so i don't see it as a stretch to be referencing LSD.
What? He liked it so much he blabbed to the press about it shocking everyone. (though I first heard that quote in the heart of my acid days and I understood compeletely why he did it)

quote from John: It was a long time before Paul took it. And then there was the big announcement. I think George was pretty heavy on it. We were probably both the most cracked. I think Paul?s a bit more stable than George and I. I don?t know about straight. Stable. I think LSD profoundly shocked him. John Lennon Lennon Remembers, Jann S Wenner Paul didn't blather about it to the press, they came to him and asked if he had done drugs. His reasoning for answering straight was that he wanted to be honest.

Exactly! The video of that interview is on youtube. They asked him if he'd done LSD (not just "drugs.")
