.... Now as far as Freda, now THERE is a class act. Loved the documentary and can't wait to see her at the L.A. Fest in October.
I loved Freda's docu too. She took up a collection to make it, didn't she?

Didn't she already give it away for free to Eric while she was still with George?
Yes she did Lady Madonna! If I could make an analogy to the continents that was when she was young, wild, and exotic...kind of like The Americas when they were discovered. Now she's a bit like Australia...everyone knows it's down there, but no one wants to go. (no offense to my Australian friends--it's just a joke! )

The filmmaker, Ryan White, went on Kickstarter and raised enough money to get the movie done. His uncle was one of the Merseybeats, so she knew Ryan and trusted him. She's always led a quiet, private life and has never dished any dirt about the Fabs, she's very loyal to them. But she finally decided to tell her story because she wants her young grandson to know what she was a part of. She is indeed a class act. As to Patti charging for autographs, I believe that if you brought in a copy of her book that you'd bought elsewhere, she would sign that for free. and of course if you bought a book at the Fest, you just paid the cost of the book and she would sign it. I think she was only charging extra for any other items that people wanted signed, like pictures or cd's or whatever.

Thanks for clearing that up! Still something rubs me the wrong way about paying for an autograph after paying to get in to a BeatleFest. Like Lady Madonna, I would have passed on the autograph. Curious, could you at least get on line and say hello and shake her hand for free if you wanted? BTW I did buy a copy of her book, but have not read it yet. BTW, I do think Paul should have done a meet and greet at the soundcheck with the very expensive Hot Sound packages we purchased. If he doesn't have the time to meet that many people then they should limit the number of packages that include the soundcheck. Most jazz artists I have seen usually make themselves available after the show for a hello and autograph if you want one. I realize that's not possible at a rock concert of that size, but a meet and greet at soundcheck or him walking into the soundcheck audience for a few minutes would have been a nice gesture. I guess it's some of the "crazed" fans of Paul's that ruin it for the rest of us in terms of that ever happening.

This didn't happen at the Beatlefest in the states, but I read that a couple days ago Sam Leach fell at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool on the way to his table at the Beatles con there, broke his hip and either broke or bruised a rib. Anybody heard how he's doing?

OMG, the Los Angeles Fest was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! I loved every minute of it....went from place to place to try to do everything. My favorite things: Freda Kelly (what a nice person!) Angie & Ruth McCartney (they are a hoot...so funny) Julia Baird (John's half sis---had lots of nice things to say.) 3 members of Wings --- Denny Siewell, Denny Laine & Lawrence Juber (totally rocked the house...but so strange not to hear Paul & Linda's voice in there) The signed piece of wall from the Ed Sullivan show....gave me goosebumps. The contests were fun! Listening to panel discussions...so informative. Meeting the contributors to Beatlefan magazine...all so very nice. I had a blast and can't wait for the next one.

I was there too! It was like summer camp for Beatle fans. So much to see and hear, and not enough time! I hope it comes to LA again soon. parlance
