NEW kicks ass.
Paul's best album to date... Fireman and Paul McCartney...you say you want an evolution... 2 squared...It takes at least four producers to get the many sides of McCartney's music on one disc!!!

I really don't get what there is to criticize here. 1. It's FREE. 2. It's a rarity, used apparently as a backing track. Paul rarely releases rarities and alternate takes, let alone gives them away. We want him to do this more often. So releasing this is a good thing and a good way to tease promotion of the reissue. 3. It's a great vocal. 4. And did I mention? It's FREE???
I totally agree. I love hearing a work-in-progress like this, gives some insight into his process. It's not like he's saying "here's my new single" or anything. Just something extra for the fans. I think this is exactly the kind of thing he should be giving away free. (And it's in much better quality than the "unauthorized" version of this that's out there, too.) My only negative comment on the downloads: I don't really see him winking in the "wink" GIF.
Yep, I love this sort of offering. The song in its simplicity. Isolates the little guitar riffs. Much prefer this than another live edition. I am more than happy. The sort of stuff I want.

The fact that I really think NEW is a fantastic album is why I decided to get a delux set

I stand by my original post. If you're going to play around with a track in creating an extended version, then make it as good as the version on the album, or better. And don't leave out the backing vocals.

They shouldn't really have called this an "extended version," because it's not. This was the complete rough mix of the song before they added all the backing vocals and other instruments, and before they edited it down for the album. It just shows us how the song sounded before they added all the embellishments we've come to know so well. A true "extended version" is more like those "No More Lonely Nights" remixes that go on for eight or nine minutes, when the original song was about four minutes. They should have called this something like: "Letting Go [unedited rough mix]," because that's what it is. It's not a new mix.

This 'basic' version of Letting Go has been available on bootlegs for yonks but its always worth a listen,....especially near the very end when it trips off into 'Monkberry Moon Delight'.

Monkberry Moon Delight isolated vocal
Another cracker by Paul!

Yes, these isolated vocals (or drums or bass or Linda dont listen to that) are all over the internet. That's why I don't understand any of the bad comments about the free DL...not a big deal. <shrugs>

Looking forward to hearing more audio downloads!

The isolated vocal track for 'Jet' is for me the best of the bunch.
Not only a brilliant vocal performance from Paul (with a bit of hand clapping and foot stomping as well) but also great harmonies from Linda and Denny which contributed so much to the sound of Wings. -
