US Tour '05
-
2005 were some of my favorite shows ever! I saw both Philly shows. The first one, I left school early and showed up and lucked into seeing Paul's soundcheck! That was before he started selling tickets to them! The next day, my friend and I begged my parents to go see if we could meet up with Brian and Rusty before the show and we actually pulled that off too! We met up with them and chatted for a while before the show. We had 6th row seats, so after we talked to them, we ran to a pharmacy where we bought postedboard to make out "Peradventure I'm Amazed" sign, which Paul pointed out and commented on right before he played Maybe I'm Amazed. I still have the sign, which is ripped up so each individual word is separate, because security wouldn't let us in with the big sign, so we just tore it into small pieces

Is it on the DVD as a bonus feature? I feel like it may be?on the Space Within US DVD?

Does anybody have any footage of the ending of the pre show film into Magical Mystery Tour?? It was so overwhelming when it happened, that I don't remember the curtain beginning to rise. Paul just seemed to have appeared on stage as the curtain was already in the process of rolling up before the lights turned on as the 3, 2, 1 countdown was already happening. I just want to see how exactly it happened. In the Space Within Us, they don't show the seconds before. It's all edited together perfectly to the actual start of Magical Mystery Tour.

"Please, Please Me" and "I'll Get You" Such happy little ditties. I think both of those were done in 05-I get confused...

Yes, only in 2005. Would be amazing if they reappeared in the setlist again!

Mine too. The soundchecks also were epic!

I saw Paul fall into the pit in Tampa '05 - memorable but for the wrong reason!
-
Without question my favorite. It was my second Paul show, so my nerves were a little calmer and it allowed me to just sit back and enjoy it more (if that makes sense). Beyond that, the setlist was pure perfection: some great surprises (I'll Get You, In Spite of All the Danger, Till There Was You, Please Please Me), and he played my all time favorite For No One, plus I Will and Fixing a Hole (just to name a few) in addition to mainstays Let It Be, Eleanor Rigby, Long and Winding Road, and Hey Jude. Plus he sang Happy Birthday song for John Lennon in DC.
-
I think 2002 was my favorite tour (at least the night I saw him in Washington, DC it felt really magic somehow), but I really liked the 2005 set list. I never, ever thought I'd hear "Too Many People" live.

She Came In Through the Bathroom Window!

What is interesting is looking at the contrast between set lists in 89/90 and 93, then 2002 and 2005. All the set lists were great, mind you. But between those two tours there seemed to be a LOT of differences and diversity. Not so much now. Maybe the source material is becoming more scarce.

The source material is not becoming more scarce for the fans, but it's out of Paul's comfort zone. I think you hit the nail on the head about why I am not excited about seeing Paul again--unless he comes to one of 3 specific cities.

You are correct. I was thinking mainly about the Beatles catalogue. But yeah, there is a LOT for him to pick from between 1970 to the present. I am in the same boat. New Mexico or nothing. Looks like it's nothing!

I won't have to spend any more big bucks.
-
I agree - good diversity from 02/03 to 05. 2002 was my first Paul tour.

My theory: Once he started doing the "mini tours" in 2008/09 (where he's only on the road for one or two weeks at a time before going on a break) he probably didn't think it was worth it to spend several weeks in rehearsal to learn a bunch of new songs, and it's been like that ever since. Unless he starts doing real tours again, I don't expect this to change.

That's a good point. Not much reason to change. Still, even throwing in some of the sound check songs into the regular set would be cool. Or why not revisit some tunes like Too Many People, Come and Get It, etc.?

2005. Last time he was in Portland.
