Why not collaborate with Gilmour or Page instead of Kanye

No, Paul does not need to be the star of every collaboration he does. What an appalling thought. He clearly enjoys being a star, but also sometimes likes just being part of a band. He played guitar on the song he wrote for the Everly Brothers, kazoo on Ringo's "Your Sixteen," and bass on one of James Taylor's early records. He enjoys mixing it up and just playing music with people he enjoys working with, and he clearly seems to like working with Kanye. Why on earth would anyone want to deny him that?
oh for that... you need to read the whole thread again. but obviously many, not just anyone! and by the way the names you mentioned are either legends or musically related to Paul McCartney.
Well, I say "musically related" is meaningless. Why put limits on the kinds of music Paul can do? In the Beatles, he did everything from screaming Little Richard covers to romantic show tunes to novelty hits by the Coasters. In one single day in 1965, he recorded the vocals to "Yesterday," "I've Just Seen A Face," and "I'm Down." This is not a man with limits. And you may not like this fact, but Kanye West is a legend. He has had a huge impact on music in this century, and he is one of the most famous musicians to emerge in that time. I don't necessarily like or listen to every single thing that comes out, but I think it's pointless to just dig in your heels and try to wish away whole genres of music. Paul obviously hasn't.
Oh no no no.... Mr. Kardashian a legend?.... A huge impact?.... Famous?.... I respect your opinion, I really do, but Mr. Kardashian will never be anything more than a footnote on the footnote that is the footnote of music..... His impact will be dwarfed by true legends and his impact will sit as an aside by the likes of Boy George, Rick Astley and many more that came before him.... He is a footnote.... I don't like him and I don't like his music.
Add or his wife (& her family) to that last sentence.

Sorry, but he's a major, significant figure in modern music. You may not like it (hey, I don't particularly myself), but that's reality and you might as well get used to it

I remember when such similar contributions/collaborations were not credited or he opted for pseudonyms. Point being, he knew word would get out eventually... Beach Boys, James Taylor, Peggy, Rod, Michael Shenker Group, the Bonzo's, Klaus... These days every bloody thing has to be trumpeted from the mountain tops.

Kanye? Yeah...nah. Kanye can hit the GD highway, as far as me and my ears are concerned.

Paul wants a #1 hit in America. He wont get that with 60's/70's artists. He will with Kanye.
That's the point why he shouldn't do that. that proves all Kanye fans and teenagers comments and tweets were true. what would that add to Legend like Paul McCartney
I'm sure there are many people who don't know who Paul is, but the tweets that started this whole thing WERE a joke. The guy who made the comment that Kanye would make Paul a big star someday was clearly being ironic, especially when you look at the rest of his tweets. He's just some guy who likes to be snarky and sardonic and goofy, and other people followed up with their own snarky tweets, but then someone took them seriously, and it blew up the Internet like "Alex from Target."
We all know who is Paul! even younger generation. the whole point is what is this will add to Paul McCartney history??? and yes for your previous comment I have listened to the song. it is nothing special at all. go surf the net or youtube for hundred thousands of similar songs. Paul can experiment what ever he can as long as he is the one who compose and perform, and not being just a backup Featured in Kanye's song ! here is one of the results of such great collaboration : [A world where the Beatles don?t matter[/color">](http://www.bostonglobe.com/opinion/2015/01/07/the-beatles-rendered-irrelevant-time/aNtVSsSOx9tQYhlQgpE9rJ/story.html]<span style=)
We've yet to see if the point of the entire collaboration was to make "hits," which everybody knows was the goal when he teamed up with Michael Jackson. Personally, I think Kanye West solicited Paul McCartney. Call it mentoring; call it pop-superstars collaborating as equals; or it just may be that open-minded, carefree, "sure, why not?" attitude that we all love about Macca, as displayed here:
Kanye West is certainly not the musician McCartney is, but he's probably got a lot of great ideas. Hell, maybe all this is a plan to make cynical folks like me start talking more about Kanye West's music, rather than his "celebrity" shenanigans. -

This link and song of Shingai Shoniwa and Marques Toliver are much better than Kanye's they are real musicians and talented (thank you for sharing) he should back up such great talents just like he did for James Taylor and Mary Hopkin back in late 60's. Paul McCartney is a legend for million reasons. not the place or time to explain that. But to compare him to Kayne. it is a shame if anyone here can think about that! this is another reason why this Collaboration is a big mistake !
-
You're allowed to not like this (I'm indifferent on it, but it's not a bad track), but deeming this a "mistake" would require negative consequences of some significance -- and, so far, there haven't been any. But yes, indeed: That clip is cool. That's the Paul that I like.

And when all is said and done, Abbey Road is still Abbey Road, Band on the Run is still Band on the Run, etc...and this collaboration did not change that...point being, if you like the collaboration, listen to it, if not, play (insert name of favorite Paul/Beatle album) to your heart's content...worse case scenario, nothing tarnished by this

When he worked with James and Mary, he was in effect their mentor.

Plus one, like and thumbs up. I don't see why this is bothering people. If your name is Paul McCartney, you can play with whoever you want. I bet a lot of people are glad he does.

I don't have a problem with the headline because, uh, it's true. And something like this was probably the only way Paul was going to hit some of these charts. I can't fathom why this upsets people.

The attitude of a lot of Paul's fans right now seems eerily familiar. Hmm, when was it that all the parents and politicians and policemen complained about some new form of music that was all just tuneless noise, and they can't sing, and they can't really play their instruments, and they look ridiculous, and they're just publicity hounds, and the young people are mindless fools to like them, and they'll never last, and how dare they be as popular as the REAL singers? Oh yes, that would be 1964!

That's where I feel I've been these last few weeks. Back in the 60's. Luckily my parents weren't like that and took me to see the Beatles, but they were the exceptions. And I'll give this Kanye fellow a chance.
