Is "your" Macca all good or all bad?
-
Not all or nothing... I wish he would do more solo stuff in concert. I wish he would put more bonus material on the reissues. I wish the reissues would come out faster, and I wish they would tell us exactly which ones they plan on doing (I don't believe that "leaked schedule" that pops up every now and then). I wish the official live DVDs had more of Paul and the band, and less of the audience. I wish he would let his hair go natural. I love the fact that he takes risks and never stops exploring, whether it's the Fireman, Kanye, the video game, whatever; it may not all be outstanding, but it keeps him fresh and interested in music. I love the presentation of the reissues, as far as the books and photos and notes, etc. I admire the fact that he doesn't push fans away if he runs into them in public. I think he puts on a great live show, even if parts of it are predictable. He fills an arena with warmth, and never looks like he's not enjoying it. Although I could enjoy his shows more if he did obscure stuff, I never leave disappointed.

Agreed. Except -- I'm a proponent for hair-coloring. I've even gotten used to the length (as long as he never EVER lets it get as long as it did at that thing he did with Springsteen a couple of years ago). And I liked his brief flirtation with the blond highlights last year. He should go back to that.

Well, I guess if he's been doing the coloring for this long, it would look strange to suddenly let it go. But still....

Not so true. I've heard that he won't sign when you just bump into him on the street. Like you'll ever get another chance for that to happen.

Oh, you're right, but he will say something to acknowledge them and then something like, "I'm having a private moment." At least on the polite side.

Maybe not the highlights though. I like his hair light brown.

Not a bad look, actually. But maybe he thought it made him look gray in black-and-white photos?

I think that's just the way the light is hitting his hair. I doubt he had actual highlights done.

Right. From his comment, it was clear he knows exactly the same amt. about American politics as I do about British.
I don't know about British news, but if Americans want to know what's going on, they have to look at sources outside of the United States. What Americans are told, and not told, by American news agencies is appalling.

His red hair freaked me out.

I agree. Often I look at BBC to find out what HAS happened in the US because our people don't report some things that are very important.

"My Macca" (my personal conception of his character) is certainly more good than bad I wonder how it could be otherwise It couldn't.

Basically all good of course LOVE the music he's been releasing since Flaming Pie. As much as anything he's ever done really. Love him for his love for animals and nature, and for being a down to earth and kind person. His concerts are fantastic. He does play several non Beatles songs, including some rather obscure ones. He played Mrs. Vanderbilt here!, one of my very favourites Why some people complain he takes no risks?, he takes risks with his new music all the time. McCartney?, McCartney II?, The Fireman project?. The very Kaybe colaboration... And I do want to hear Hey Jude, Yesterday and Let it Be in concert. Though there are a couple Beatles songs which I'd switch for some solo songs. I would like it if he did sometimes some smaller concerts with maybe only solo songs, even a concert for some specific album or two. Oh, and I LOVE that he's not one of these celebrities who keep complaining and apparently would like us to feel sorry for them for having it so tough, with all the money and fame you know : He appreciates what he has. I remember a quote by him which was something like "I still am exited just to plug an electric guitar on. It's what I wanted to do since I was a kid". PS: I'm sure his hair looks better like this than all white.

What I like most about him is probably his down-to-earthiness, I suppose. The lines in his songs that aren't quite right grammatically, but probably represent the way most of us talk and think is what makes them stand out and work. Yes, he is a talent, and yes he's "on" much of the time, but he's a performer. The public will never get that piece of him that is the real him that his friends and family know. This is not a revelation. What think ye? Diverse opinions welcomed.
The best is he is an incredibly talented song writer, musician and vocalist and seems to be a generally good guy. The downside is he is obsessed IMO with carrying the Beatle torch. In the words of the incredibly popular Disney song, he needs to "Let It Go" - lol

The Beatles are a huge part of his professional and creative history, though, how could it mean just a little to Paul McCartney? His "ever present past." Something like that isn't easily forgotten and discounted in favor of only the present. The Beatles story colors and informs many of his waking (and dreaming) moments, has a big effect on certain aspects, especially.
