Have you ever met/spoken to a Beatle?

Blimey, I said, when I stepped on John's toe... he had to polish his boots then and his answer is unprintable. Haven't heard any Beatles music in Toronto for years, its all the conditioned beeping stuff now.

Any 'old school' members of this board remember one lady who had a 60s-era Beatles tray signed by all four? I think her handle began with either a "B" or "L". She's originally from Philadelphia but moved to LA in the late 70s-early 80s. Don't think she posts here anymore but around 2002 or 2003 she told her wonderful stories of how she got each Beatle to sign the tray. I had actually saved her post for the longest time because I loved her stories, but now I can't find it. As I recall: - John: Signed in '75 when he visited WFIL for their Helping Hand Marathon. She had to pay $1 for the autograph (a donation to the marathon) and stood behind a barricade as John walked by signing away. He only had a ball point pen and it wouldn't write on the tray. John shrugged and apologized before continuing on signing for others. She felt bummed at having paid a dollar without getting an autograph, and as John finished signing he walked back towards where she was standing and yelled out, "Where's that girl with the tray?" He managed to grab hold of a felt marker and signed her tray. - Paul: Signed in '84 (?) when he appeared on The Tonight Show. She attended the taping but rather than sitting in the studio audience she waited in the green room thinking she'd have a better chance at getting an autograph. After his segment on the show he walked off stage through a side door where she was waiting. Paul gave a quick signature and she managed to get away before he was engulfed by a crowd of fans. - Ringo: Signed in '88 (?) outside the fence of a radio station where he had given an interview. Small crowd was gathered yelling for Ringo to come say hello, he begrudgingly walked over and grumbled, "I'm only giving three autographs!" Her tray was one of the three. - George: Signed in '92 when he arrived at a radio station to do an interview for his Live In Japan cd. She waited in the parking garage with her son, George arrived sitting in the passenger's seat of (I think) a not-very-expensive looking car, she yelled his name which echoed in the garage and held up her tray. After looking around and seeing no other fans, George motioned her over. He signed the tray, looked at it and asked, "When did you get John's signature?" After she told him I think he said, "Congratulations, you have us all now!". And as he drove away she let out a huge scream which made George laugh. I've never forgotten her stories. I thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever read on this forum. She said she wanted to try and get a few others like George Martin, Neil Aspinall or Geoff Emerick to sign it but I have no idea if she did. Anyone remember this and who this board member was?

that's a good story. I wonder if the original posts exists somewhere on the forum

Paul Mc. called me one time but it woke me up, didn't realize it was him til' right afterwards; he said "Linda Louise Linda" and I replied, like a nerdnik, " "Wrong number" and he laughed and hung up. I don't care if no-one believes me, I know that happened. I'd given him my phone number through this site. I reckon he said that 'cause I always stood up for him here and gave trolls hell when they dissed him, and I've read Linda was always fierce in defending him.

That's amazing. I would never expect John, or most celebrities, to find a new pen and go back to sign an autograph.

I have that tray (that I got in 1964) with the 4 color head shots of them. That is amazing that she got all 4 to sign it. It is worth a small fortune!

Right, phone number here in Toronto is 647 471 3571 Any fans can call and I'll pretend I'm John, still alive and posing as a starving musician. jack

Soft-Hearted Hana:
There's probably a better thread for this, but I did speak to James McCartney when he played in my hometown last spring. He was exquisitely shy and nice, very unassuming. I felt badly for him when the clod in line behind me insisted on asking him about his father. The guy kept saying, "You know, your dad, Paul, when did you last see him?" Poor James just looked at him. James is indeed musically gifted like his dad. I liked his few brief anecdotes about his mom the best, though.
What did he say about his mom?
