Songs You Would Like Paul to Cover
-
This is just a hypothetical question, a "what if"... I'd like Paul to continue writing his own songs and performing his own music, but if he ever were to do an album of "covers" of songs by other performers or groups, what songs would you want on the album? Ok, I'll go first... I think he could perform these songs, and that they would be good selections for his voice range : 1. God only knows (Beach Boys) 2. Give a Little Bit (SuperTramp) 3. Kiss on my List (Hall and Oates) 4. Walk This Way (Aerosmith) 5. Stop, Look and Listen, Baby (aka Rubberneckin--- Elvis Presley) 6. Lady (Kenny Rogers) 7. All Right Now (Free) 8. Right Place at the Wrong Time (Dr John) 9. Hello, I love You (The Doors) 10. Color My World (Chicago) 11. Frankenstein (Edgar Winters Group)--instrumental 12. Hard to Handle (The Black Crowes) 13. Sharp Dressed Man (ZZ Top) 14. Gimme Three Steps (Lynyrd Skynyrd) 15. Good Morning Starshine (Oliver) 16. She's a Lady (Tom Jones) 17. It's Not Unusual (Tom Jones) 18. Feelin' Alright (Joe Cocker) 19. Last Dance with Mary Jane (Tom Petty) 20. 1999 (Prince) What other "covers" could Paul do, that would be good for his voice range and most excellent guitar and keyboard skills?

I would love for him to team up with Neil Finn from Crowded House and work on a coloboration like he did with Costello.

Does anybody really think Paul would do a cover of somebody else's song in concert? He never did Till There Was You or A Taste Of Honey even, did he?
He's done "Foxy Lady" by Jimi Hendrix
I'd like him to take lead vocals on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"

Imagine - A taste of honey and Some other guy!

While I have enjoyed every Paul concert that I have ever been to ...
This post gave me a laugh inside and a grin.

I thought he's done "Something" in concert before, to honor George ?
"Allison" by Elvis Costello...I'd feel he was singing it to me.

Yes, he’s done “Something” for years! Wish he’d change to another George song like Here Comes the Sun or While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

"Every Day I Write the Book" would be cute for Paul to cover, kind of a companion piece to "Paperback Writer." I remember the cute music video to this Costello song on Mtv in the eighties. It played often, along with "Allison." It would also be a tribute of sorts to Elvis (Costello).

I like many of Lady Leslie's suggestions for a possible Paul cover album, will say which ones later when I have more time. They would feature more pizazz and excitement than his covers on "Kisses On the Bottom," which I just couldn't get into much. (uh oh I just got on his shite list again) oops

Paul covered Buddy Holly songs in "Holly Days"

Lemmys cover version of the back in the USSR was so great, so I recommend cover version for Macca:
Ace Of Spades

I can't find it for the life of me -- this new search function is bringin' me down -- but there was a thread a while back about songs that people thought sounded "McCartneyesque," and so I saved the lot of them because I thought, as a working producer, that if I ever got the chance to work with Paul, I would propose a double-album called Is It Me?
Disc 1 would consist of Paul and several Paul soundalike vocalists (and I'm not talking Paul plus every tribute act ever, I mean "name" people like Andy Partridge ["I'd Like That" is a good example] and others who have been described as sounding close to Paul) performing original material written by Paul, both classic and new, same production style, same everything, and you have to guess whether or not it's Paul on lead. Think The Art of McCartney, but with the added fun of a guessing game.
Disc 2 would consist solely of Paul, but it would be he and his band recording their own arrangements of songs that were classically tagged as "McCartneyesque." If you were ever confused about whether or not it was a Paul tune, it'd be on there so now you weren't wrong! And for my potential track list, I filched a lot of ideas from that thread. I'll toss a few in here when I can find the list.
