I agree with all of that but the last bit. I'm a big fan of Chaos And Creation. Beautiful record!

A masterpiece! On September 9, 2005 Paul released Chaos and Creation in the Backyard. This 20 track solo album contained all original McCartney songs which was amazing almost 100% Paul. Paul performed most, if not all the instruments on all 20 tracks.. This was the first album that my husband and I enjoyed as a couple listening to together and was the launch of a McCartney tour. Oct 2005, one fine night in DC, Sir Paul invited our family to first row center to enjoy the show. Never will forget that night or this amazing album. Thank you!
You bought a version with 20 tracks????? :

Well, if you count all the 6 B-sides/bonus tracks plus 'I've Only Got Two Hands' (the instrumental "secret" track) you will get 20 tracks, hehe.

Oh yeah, forgot about all the bonus tracks one could obtain. I really love, "I Want You To Fly". Should have been on the album proper.

Some of Paul's best recent songs, but the production is too thin for my liking. Today, it sounds like any other record put out by indie-rockers. Its one of the few Macca albums that hasnt aged well.

Why is it when people try to sound hip and edgy, they only sound ignorant?

Chaos and Creation in the Backyard is a big score for those who have remained faithful to McCartney throughout the last few decades; it is far and away the most solid record he?s delivered since the mid-?70s. His decision to make the album with producer Nigel Godrich, known for his work with Radiohead, Air, and Beck, is just as significant as it looks on paper. In addition to making Chaos and Creation one of the best-sounding albums of McCartney?s solo career Godrich convinced McCartney to once again handle all instrumental duties (a few cameos from musicians like Jason Falkner and Joey Waronker notwithstanding), Pop Matters

Personally, I think it's aged better than most, including a few that are fan favorites.

Agree 100%, fantastic record and Mr. McCartney needs someone like Godrich to get the best out of him.

Chaos and Creation is the best thing Paul has done since Ram.

Not even close. Chaos and Creation is the best thing Paul has done since Driving Rain.

This is pretty odd, since Time gave a glowing review to Flaming Pie.

Chaos and Creation is light-years better than Ram.

At least RAM has many diverse songs: albeit most of them sound like half finished ideas. Chaos is largely dreary. For the record (pun intended), I'm not especially impressed with either album. However - each of them does have some EXCELLENT songs. For mine - they just don't work as albums.

No. Not even in the same McCartney universe. RAM had Too Many People, Dear Boy, Ram On, Uncle Albert, Backseat Of My Car, Smile Away... Chaos had....what?? Not ONE song is anywhere NEAR as good as those. Sorry, but no.

Which ones?? Dear Boy reaches an almost Brian Wilson level of pop vocal orchestration. Too Many People is fueled by Paul's reaction to Lennon's vitriol cast at him. Backseat Of My Car is gorgeous melodic pop. There is NOTHING on Chaos that even remotely approaches Paul's pop music sensibilities found on Ram. You want half baked unfinished doodles?? Listen to Chaos. And Driving Rain. And New as well.

In my opinion it is Paul's masterpiece. I listen to it more than any other album and I'm a first generation Beatles fan. It doesn't appeal to the head nodders but it's 13 gorgeous songs from the man who breaths melody. I love it.
i too still love this record.

Backseat Of My Car one of the most underrated songs of McCartney's career. Pop bliss. As much as I might "appreciate" Chaos, it's a pretty dour affair. Rarely wants me coming back for more. Prefer Ram every time.
