Was No More Lonely Nights Paul's last classic?

I really liked NMLN (No More Lonely Nights)..... yeah it's very 80's, especially listening to it now (guitar especially), but sadly, I think it was the last single that non-Paul nut fans (US) have really adhered themselves to..... Paul hasn't really been able to nut out a single of that importance for the non-fans since.... even if there are better since.... is it a classic?... there are probably many songs I prefer more in that early-mid 80's period... but, no doubt, I like NMLN (permitted as an ACM once stated first-hand)..... in fact, I like it a lot....but, I also love the beefed up version of the song too.
You tell us what NMLN means but what the heck is ACM?
Acronym.
Never heard of that abbreviation before and couldn't find it on Google.
It's an original ABV (abbreviation). Given the excessive use of ABV's and ACM's in today's world, I took it on myself to create an acronym for the word acronym. It made sense.

NMLN is typical of his 80's pap. Better than most of his 80's rubbish, but only slightly. That period from 82 through 87 was his nadir. In an attempt to move with the trends instead of setting them, he totally lost his way. Thankfully he recovered. I remember hearing Back On My Feet for the first time and thinking, the title is spot on! His first decent song in ages. ...and that was the start of hauling himself out of the mire. But make no mistake, sure he was still Paul McCartney, but during that period he was pretty much a musical lightweight.
I tend to agree. NMLN is a pretty good song compared to what he was doing in that period, but is it REALLY as good as My Brave Face or Hope Of Deliverance? I think not.
Agree entirely. Actually, I prefer the two original rockers on "Broad Street" to NMLN.
Yeah, I always liked Not Such a Bad Boy. Cool tune!

It's not a question of what fans "adhered to." At least in the U.S., other than "Spies Like Us," it's the last Paul single that got decent radio play. Most non-fans have never heard his later singles.

Never questioned what the "real fans" adhered to... I was questioning what the "Non-Paul- lasting" fans were adhering to.... I'm saying that they seemed to stop listening with too much intent after No More Lonely Nights.... perhaps I was ambiguous in my expression.... either way, I agree that it all ended with Spies Like Us/No More Lonely Nights for the "now-casual" fan.... who may have once been totally passionate, more than likely. Radio play may have slowed but there was still a lot of media attention with his new releases for a few years to come. I reckon it came to a big halt after Flaming Pie. At any rate, the true fans (me included/"US") have adhered/endeared themselves to so much more in the last 30 years! But for a lot.... No More Lonely Nights may have been the last single they bought.

That's a sleeper tune that should have been on the radio.

Agree with all of your statements except the part about MBF & HOD.

I too like very much both original rockers from the album.

It went to no 2 in the UK, held off the top stop by Wham! 's Freedom. That Christmas, We All Stand Together got to no 3, held off by Band Aid and Wham's Last Christmas. It was a good year for Macca, as both songs were in the top 40 best sellers of the year, and the year opened with Pipes of Peace at no. 1. Since then, he has hardly got within sniffing distance of the top 10, though Once Upon A Long Ago got to no 10 for one week in the UK, and I think Spies Like Us dented the top 10 in the US. The World Tonight should have been his big hit, but the plodding bass sunk it, plus references to paparazzi in the year that Diana died probably didn't help. No More Lonely Nights was really is last pop song that delivered the goods. I mean, Appreciate is a great pop song but with its weak vocal it was never going to do too well. After that, Macca was the elder statesman of pop. like the Stones, still relevant to the right age group but not really about being cute and in the top 10.

looks like you also love ellipses!
I must admit I do seem to exhibit a fondness for them...
Why...if you don't mind my asking...is that?

Shouldn't it be ARN?
