At least for the moment, I'm glad I live in New Mexico.
Because no one plays there or because there are no weird toilet laws?
Both!!!

New Mexico is much more appealing than N.C. in many ways. I liked Carlsbad a lot too although a small town, it sure had atmosphere, and I went nuts over Santa Fe the first time I saw it. New Mexico seemed magical. Demi Lavato and Nick Jonas are the latest to cancel N.C. gigs. That would have been a pretty sexy double bill They're touring together. Remains to be seen whether Beyonc? and Justin Bieber will drop out too. Seems like they would have done so before now. They're slated to perform in N.C. this summer. Do you think they'll cancel?

I wonder if it is becoming a fad to cancel N.C. New Mexico is nice. But I have also been to Raleigh, Charlotte, and Wilmington in NC and I think it is a beautiful state. I used the men's room when I was there. No problems!!

It's interesting that New Mexico somehow became the "logical" alternative to North Carolina in the discussion as a place to go! It's kinda like comparing apples to oranges in terms of "what's there". Hey, if I can't go to North Carolina, then, I'll go to New Mexico, they're both so much alike."

There are honest disagreements about boycotts, since they inevitably hurt some innocent parties. But they work. A similar bill in Tennessee just got squelched because of the uproar over HB2. And the growing international boycott/divestment movement absolutely helped bring down the odious apartheid regime in South Africa. If I read right, Duran Duran played a gig in North Carolina but turned it into a benefit for the state's LGBT equality group, which seems to me a perfectly valid response. Personally, I appreciate artists taking a stand, however they choose to do it. And don't forget, the Beatles threatened to cancel shows in 1964 when they found they'd been booked into segregated arenas in the South. In that case, happily, the authorities backed down.
"If I read right, Duran Duran played a gig in North Carolina but turned it into a benefit for the state's LGBT equality group, which seems to me a perfectly valid response. " I think this is much better response than cancelling concert you committed to many months in advance.

I live in Charlotte and it is very nice. Go to the beaches in NC or to the mountains and it is wonderful place to be. There was no issue when somebody uses a public bathroom but there might be now thanks to all this stuff. Jimmy Buffett just played here with Huey Lewis, Broadway tours are still performing in Charlotte NC. BTW - Springsteen concert that was cancelled had around 8,000 seats available, wonder if that had anything to do with it - lol. Ringo's show was not selling that well either.

Good one. This whole bathroom thing is ridiculous! In the first place, the proponents are mixing up transsexuals and transvestites with sexual predators. Secondly, how do they expect this to be enforced? Is everyone going to have to drop trou before entering the restroom and prove to a cop that they have the "correct" genitals? Insanity! :

"Secondly, how do they expect this to be enforced? " Exactly, it will not be enforced.

No one knows how to enforce it: http://www.wral.com/enforcing-hb2-bathroom-rule-a-low-priority/15666073/ Which means that in practice it will be enforced rarely and selectively, when cops or local officials want to harass people they don't like. Sadly, the LGBT community has a lot of experience with this.
