What is Paul's Best Music Video?
-
Have to agree, Coming Up is far and away his best video, best meaning most technically proficient. The way his horn section has one player out of step with the others is an example of his timing genius, by the way. Whilst Mull (High Park version) is nowhere near as clever, I love the simplicity of it and it captures the song's sentiments well.

_____________________________________________________ Robert, I also have to agree that Coming Up is his best video. It just has me cracking up all the way through. This is British/Beatles humor at its best. I love all the faces that Paul makes especially when he does his Beatlemania type gestures. Like you, I also love the horn section. Questions for all... Who are the various people Paul is trying to imitate? One seems to be Buddy Holly. Is another that group called Kraftwork (I believe that is the name). Is that Paul standing next to Linda or is it someone else. As I mentioned, Coming Up is the most funny. I also like Ever Present Past for humor. Can't believe how the female dancers have Paul's moves down to a T. For great human emotion videos, I still get back to Pipes of Peace, Little Willow and Put It There. You are right, the Mull (Hide Park version) is another great one. To me, those 6 videos are all fantastic.

According to Paul, he is supposed to be Hank Marvin from The Shadows (group that used to back Cliff Richard).
Is another that group called Kraftwork (I believe that is the name).
If you mean the guy with the slicked back hair and smaller mustache on keyboards, he is supposed to be Ron Mael from Sparks. I remember an interview with Paul where he said the drummer is supposed to be Animal from The Muppets.
Is that Paul standing next to Linda or is it someone else.
It's Linda. And I agree this is one of Paul's best videos. Another one of my very favorites is Press. Some friends found out he was filming on the London Underground that day and raced around trying to catch up to him, but they never did.

Did you see the latest video for Coming Up? Paul explains who some of the characters are. Check it out.

Yes Hank Marvin and Mael from Sparks. The drummer is Bonham, I believe. One of the horn players is the sax player from Roxy Music if I recall. This is also the first time he used a hofner for 10 years and it still had a setlist taped to it when he opened the case. The clip's impact for 1980 was immense - truly a marvel.

Paul is attempting to be Cliff, as the lead singer too, I believe or at least he's subconsciously channelling him.

The setlist was from The Beatles' last concert at Candlestick. It is pictured still intact in the book Beatles Gear by Andy Babiuk (I highly recommend this book!)

Love Coming Up , My Brave Face and Pretty Little Head
-
He's got loads of fun vids, "The World Tonight" (I love that song), "This One" for being way out there and psychedelic, "Your Loving Flame" and "Off The Ground" where he's flying, "Beautiful Night" which really gives the feel of a lovely evening and shows Linda's face blown up on a big screen looking very sensitive and artistic, "Ballroom Dancing" so cinematic, colorful and visual, "No More Lonely Nights" with Paul driving through London at night--just a few which immediately spring to mind as being especially striking

Pretty Little Head & The World Tonight are entertaining.

I always thought the drummer was supposed to be Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac!

Good point. I'd forgotten about This One, that's an unusual clip.
