THE NEXT DELUXE/REMASTERED ALBUM FROM PAUL
-
stuartshire:
Is it safe to assume, that there are no flowers in the dirt songs on pure McCartney, because it's the next reissue?
Assumptions are a slippery slope with Macca. According to the card/insert that came with my Tug Of War remaster, FITD is on tap to be the next reissue. But to assume? Too risky. Hell, two weeks ago, if we'd found out that a comprehensive, 4-disc compilation was coming out, there's not one among us who wouldn't have assumed that Flowers songs would be included. In fact, we would've bet the farm. Alas, the released track-listing of Pure McCartney.

There will absolutely be an archive set released this year. The coming soon cards have been right the last two years; 2014's SOS & V/M and 2015's TOW & POP. These releases both saw a 4th quarter release so I have no doubt that FITD will follow the same trend for 2016.
-
Has anybody been able to figure out who is the one that hand numbered the photos in the TOW super deluxe set? I haven't been able to find any info on it. I know it's not Paul, but I'm just curious.

MetalGod, Sounds right. I'm fairly certain of Flowers coming by Christmas. No inside information on my part. Just a feeling.

...and the new tour programme includes a feature about the "Paul McCartney Archive Collection" which states that they are working on a new release in the series. however, they did not say which album it would be. but I am also pretty sure that it will be "flowers in the dirt".

I'm taking that as a good sign.

"Keep the meters moving." Yes, in fact it is "Flowers In The Dirt," as the Coming Soon cards in the last sets say. And there's a good chance we'll see "Good Sign" on it.

Ah. Somebody caught the reference.

I hope we get as many versions of "Party Party" and "Ou Est Le Soleil" as possible. 80s Macca at his best

I'm going to speculate that the Deluxe box set will be between the size of RAM and WOA - a similar size of the World Tour edition. Just to present the various films/music tracks that came out surrounding this album and the ensuing tour that followed: 1. Paul McCartney: Put It There Documentary (1989) 2. Coming Home (Disney Channel Documentary - 1990) 3. Get Back (World Tour concert film) Original Album Tracklist: 1. "My Brave Face" 2. "Rough Ride" 3. "You Want Her Too" (with Elvis Costello) 4. "Distractions" 5. "We Got Married" 6. "Put It There" 7. "Figure of Eight" 8. "This One" 9. "Don't Be Careless Love" 10. "That Day Is Done" 11. "How Many People" 12. "Motor of Love" [Bonus Track on CD & Cassette at the time of release] 13. "O? est le Soleil ?" ['93: McCartney Collection Bonus Tracks] 14. "Back on My Feet" 15. "Flying to My Home" 16. "Loveliest Thing" [2007 iTunes bonus track] 17. "This One (Club Lovejoys mix)" (Remixed by Matt Butler) [Japanese Tour Edition - bonus tracks] 18. "Message" (an environmental message from Paul to the Japanese fans) 19. "The Long and Winding Road" (from the video "Put It There".) 20. "Loveliest Thing" 21. "Rough Ride" 22."Ou est le Soleil (7" Mix)" 23. "Mama's Little Girl" (an outtake from "Red Rose Speedway" sessions.) 24. "Same Time Next Year" (an outtake from "Back To The Egg" sessions.) 25. "Party, Party" 26."P.S. Love Me Do" (The studio version of the combination of two of The Beatles songs owned by MPL Communications. The live version is found on the "Birthday" CD single.) [Other songs released] 27. "The First Stone (on the "My Brave Face" single) 28. "I'm in Love Again (on the "My Brave Face" single) 29. "Wanna Cry" 30. "Good Sign" ============================== So in closing: there is A LOT of stuff that can be included in the Deluxe Edition of the "Flowers in the Dirt" Archive Collection. Speculate away!!!!!

23. "Mama's Little Girl" (an outtake from "Red Rose Speedway" sessions.) 24. "Same Time Next Year" (an outtake from "Back To The Egg" sessions.) it would be a mistake to include these in the Flowers reissue.

Not necessarily. Those songs were released as b sides (or cd bonus tracks) during Flowers in the Dirt. It's true they were recorded earlier, but they belong. Hopefully the first stone is also included (along with the tracks from the 1993 re release).

They belong on the time frame they were recorded. Plus... there are plenty of tracks to include as bonuses on the Flowers reissue, mainly because Paul recorded an album in 1987, aborted it and the proceeded to record Flowers. Plenty of bonuses like "Return To pepperland", "Lindiana", etc there.
-
There were also extended remixes for party party and good sign
-
An entire disc of McCartney/Costello demos would be fantastic!

Ideally I agree with you. Realistically if this deluxe series is near the end then those tracks (along with Elvis Costello demos and the 1987 return to pepperland plus the other bonus tracks from the 1993 reissue) all belong on the flowers set. My feeling is that they were released as b sides on many of the singles.

Ain't life grand? You forgot the superb "PS Love Me Do".

There seems to be official confirmation from Paul himself that 'Flowers In The Dirt' is the next to be reissued and that being the reason why nothing from it was on 'Pure McCartney': I want to lodge just one complaint with Nancy Jeffries*. "Flowers in the Dirt." I could go on and on about what's wonderful about that album. And there's not a song from it (on Pure McCartney). You know why, because it's about to be reissued. It's our next big box set. We're working on that at the moment. So she would avoid that. Will it be released in its entirety? There are all those songs you wrote and recorded with Elvis Costello, many of them not officially released. That's one of the real exciting things. Those demos. We're releasing them as part of this package. I'm not sure I'm supposed to be telling you this. . . . It's great that you're a fan of "Flowers in the Dirt." Cause you've got a real nice release coming out. We showed it all to Elvis, and he was just tickled pink. * - Nancy Jeffries works at MPL in New York who came up with the first playlist for 'Pure McCartney' before McCartney got involved Source: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/paul-mccartney-archive-collection-flowers-in-the-dirt-coming-soon.465078/page-112

This is great news. Hopefully, there is a full CD just devoted to McCartney-Costello material. They were that good together.

Amen. That disc alone would probably be the coolest thing to date in the archive collection.
