I want to come home
-
I somehow just discovered this one. What are your thoughts on it?
-
Love it. Should have been on Pure McCartney over a couple of songs that most of us have already referenced.
-
Sounds like Flaming Pie era b-side material. Very uninspiring.
-
Another beautiful, heartfelt song... Was this on an album?
-
Is this the song used in the Robert De Niro movie soundtrack?

Yes, Susy. He performed it for a brief period in concert and I was fortunate to hear it in Arizona in 2010.
-
I see it also has been performed by Tom Jones.

Susy, Yes it was. Unfortunately it didn't do well. I think it was called "Everybody's Fine". Shame it wasn't a big hit or Paul's song would have been better known. Drew Barrymore and Kate Beckinsale were also in it. I have never seen the movie but it had good people. I guess the script wasn't very good. I like the way the word "home'' is repeated in the lyrics.
-
Thanx for info. Song seems a bit simplistic, but probably becomes more distinctive with extra listenings. It does have a pleasing warm quality. I've got that DVD, never watched it, I should. I hope he does more songs for movies. I recall what a nice surprise it was when his song "Vanilla Sky" played over the credits in the Tom Cruise film
-
So-so. Not bad, but definitely not close to top-tier McCartney.
-
I love it! It's as good as anything from Chaos, IMO. It would fit right in on that album

I agree. Paul has done this style so many times better in his career, it's almost impossible to be objective. Paul's voice also takes this song down a notch for me. Very much in 'Flaming Pie' era style. But listen to any of the ballads from that album, and this song doesnt hold a candle to any of them.
-
I like his playing the piano on this, the warmth of the vocals and melody and the poetic images
-
Just a song. Not enough melody for me. Both a little punctuated and lazy vocally for me.
-
It's nice, but I've never heard of the movie. That's kind of weird that a Robert De Niro movie can come out and I don't even know it exists.
-
I absolutely adore this song, one of my favourite from his late career ballads. Surprised it seems to split opinion as much as it does.

__________________________________________________________ I love it too, Rocky Boy. As a late period Paul song, it should have been on Pure McCartney rather than something like Bip Bop.

This song is a spritely more uptempo piano ballad, unlike that piano song featured at the end of the album "New"which I love for its deep feeling, sounds beautiful, is beautiful, with its line about a Bird
