Paul McCartney 2017 Rumors
-
Even if Paul comes to Toronto; it's out of my entertainment budget as I'm going to see Iron Maiden & Metallica this summer.
-
New York's 106.7 mentioned a rumor today about Paul playing in NYC this summer... after discussing Billy Joel's recently announced show at the Garden in July, the radio host said that he heard McCartney would also be in town at some point.

Did that radio host really think it was some kind of scoop or bold prediction that Paul will be in NYC some time in the summer?

It sounded like he had some kind of knowledge. But I guess we'll see soon enough...

Well, of course, he is always in NYC at some time or another! But this is the first NY *concert* rumour of 2017, so that's a good sign. It's just been way too quiet.
-
Oh man.. would LOVE to see some truth behind that NYC radio rumor. I'm due for a trip back to the Big Apple anyway!

Fans on the Run have said that we should be expecting an announcement any day now. It's all really up in the air to where he's gonna play
-
Europe?!
-
It looks like we don't have shows before Japan, so I think announcements will only happen in late March, as it was in 2013 when he announced Warsaw on March 20th. And before any announcement we always hear some rumor. But that has not happened yet, so I think we'll have to wait a little longer.

Last year the dates were announced on the 8th March & the year before was on the 6th so, it must be very soon

Interesting, considering there have been no real rumors. So either somebody does have the info and is just keeping very very quiet, or FOTR are just guessing based on March announcements from the last two years. The problem with Paul's announcements is that tickets tend to go on presale within one to two days afterwards, so there is not much time to decide, esp. when we never get the whole schedule.

We need to notice one thing: in 2014 and 2016, we got announcements for shows that happened in North/South America in April. In 2015, the concerts were in Europe in May. So, 1 month in advance for America and 2 months in advance for Europe. This pattern may mean that we only gonna have an announcement in March if there are concerts scheduled for Europe in May. Or we'll have to wait until April for Paul announces shows in North or South America. What really worries me is that the announcements are preceded by rumors and we haven't heard anything so far.
-
If I had to guess, I would say Paul will be in Latin America or Europe in May. And in the US only in the summer. Between 2011 and 2015 Macca didn't play in the US earlier in the year (just some concerts in May 2013); 2016 was an exception.
-
I'm getting sweaty palms waiting for an announcement over here! I hope he puts us out of our misery soon. Will we get some UK dates this year do you think?!
-
I'm in the US May 19 - May 27 for U2 and Billy Joel. So anytime there would be nice, please and thank you very much!

Or maybe there won't be any dates at all? We are extremely spoiled, in the past few years Paul has played US, Europe, South America, Japan... pretty much annualy and we seem to be taking it for granted now, which it is definitely not. That being said, I also anxiously wait for any announcement of course.

I imagine we will as he's doing 3 Japanese shows, maybe he might try playing in different locations afterwards. I'm always hopeful of another UK show but will see what's happening with the new album as well

Maybe you are right, but the annoucement for the Japanese concerts says that the Tokyo shows are "the first set of live dates to be announced in 2017". I think more are coming, but like I said previously, perhaps we only gonna have some annoucement in April.

If he were going to tour anywhere in South America in April-May, rumors would have started weeks ago, as that info is always leaked by local promoters to the press in advance. I don't know what it's like in Central America and Mexico, do they remain quiet until the last moment? Promoters in the US, UK, Europe and Canada are much better at keeping secrets, so my bet is that the next batch of announcements will be for concerts in those regions, perhaps Europe/UK in May-June and US/Canada anytime between May and August.

There are rumors for South America that start just a few weeks before Paul confirms it. Just some examples: first rumor for the Rio concerts in 2011 started on March 11th and the official announcement was on April 7th (27 days). And the rumors for Cariacica in 2014 started on September 15th and Paul confirms it on October 13th (28 days). Last year, first solid rumor for Argentina was on March 16th and become official in April 4th (19 days). Bob Gannon posted a few days ago that might be 2 more shows in Japan/Asia. That being said, I think Paul will only back to stage after the first half of May. In my opinion, we can wait for some rumors until the middle of March. After that, then we can say there won't be shows in SA in May.
