Flower Power cruise 2018
-
It must have been in 2013. Here's the link. Peter Asher's presentation was at 3:00. The cookout was after that for people who paid to go. Here's the link:

Glad to hear it, Nancy! Great shot. Peter, nice fellow.
He is, isn’t he? Did you get to meet him last year at AROTR? I did. On the cruise I literally almost ran into him coming out of the cafe and told him what a great show he did, etc. He was so gracious.
Great! I met him in 2015, I think, at the cookout. Had a photo made with him.
I’m talking about Peter Asher. Did you see his show in 2017 at AROTR? You met Laurence Juber and got a pic with him but that was either 2014 or 2016 because I was there when you did and I didn’t attend in 2015. What cookout are you talking about? I remember you were by a picnic table though.
Could have been 2014. Did not get a pic with L. Juber in 2014 or see Peter's show last year.
Peter Asher did not come to AROTR until 2017. Maybe you didn’t get a pic with him, but you told me you spoke to Laurence Juber by the picnic table where I had left you. And you never said, what cookout you were referring to? So who did you have a photo made with?
Nancy, I don't mind being called a liar, but this is hilarious since you sat beside me during Peter Asher's presentation the first time I attended AROTR. And it wasn't in 2017. If you want to refresh your memory on the cookout, go back and look at the 2014 AROTR link and read about it. Also, we barely know each other, so where is all of this animosity coming from?
It’s not animosity. I just have absolutely no memory of it! Sorry.

Made it a clickable link. Guess what? I was not there that day. I left early on that Sunday May 26th and drove to Memphis so I could see Paul in concert! I was probably checking into my hotel at about 3 pm., that’s why I didn’t have a memory of it. I forgot Peter Asher was even supposed to appear that year and so thought 2017 was his first time. Mystery solved!

It was 3pm on Saturday, not Sunday. You asked me to save you a seat when we met at the picnic tables. You were recommending good bands and checking them off on my program. I did save you a seat. It was May 25 and I remember you said you were seeing Paul in Memphis the next day. I just forwarded you the photo of me and Peter (email).

When I looked at the schedule, I only saw the Sunday show at 3 pm and thought that was the only one. Was it in the Grand Ballroom at the Galt? A vague memory came back to me just now. His show is so much better now and much longer.

If anyone wants to sign up for 2019, here’s the deets:

Yep.
Saturday, May 25 • 3:00pm - 4:30pm
Gretsch Guitar presents Peter Asher
I thought his show was pretty fantastic in 2013. Glad to hear it's even better now.

The penthouse suite includes "unlimited dining" and "complimentary unlimited internet". Does that mean the cheaper cabins don't?

Correct. Wi-Fi is $249 for the week and the specialty dining restaurants costs $. The Oceanview Cafe, pool grill, and dining hall are free/included for everyone. Last year I signed up during the pre-sale so I got a $150 discount, plus $100 shipboard credit.
-
Last time I was on a cruise, all the restaurants were included. The only thing extra was alcohol, but they had packages for that. I don't know about internet. I didn't bring a computer and phones were different.
-
Wi-Fi is “only” $100 for 7 days on Royal Caribbean. (At least that was the price in 2015. Probably gone up since then.)
Yeah, they have alcoholic drink packages and soda packages. I wouldn’t get the soda package again. Not worth it unless you drink 4 sodas a day. They charge about $73 which includes 18% gratuity! And depending on where you get your can of soda on the ship, the single price was $2.50, $3.00 or $3.50! RC made it so much easier with giving out refillable large cups and machines where you select from about 50 different sodas! I got my money’s worth there as I also usually had 2 sodas with dinner. I never even went to the main dining room on the FP cruise - no time for a sit down lengthy meal! Too many good bands to see!
I heard the 2019 Flower Power Cruise is almost completely sold out already!

I guess I won't be flying halfway around the world, dealing with all that TSA airport BS and spending $10,000 to ride on a boat then.

What?! It’s nowhere near $10,000 even if you go as a single.

If I had signed up for 2019 while still on the 2018 cruise, I would have gotten my same cabin (if I wanted), $150 discount, plus $100 shipboard credit.

Most cruise ships now have speciality restaurants which usually cost $25-$35 per person. You don't have to go them and can have dinner in the main dining rooms for no additional cost. My wife and I sometimes go to specialty restaurants when we are given shipboard credit for booking the cruise so it is not really costing us extra.

Does that website show different prices for different IP addresses? What I see is
Category: PS
New Guest Rate: $9,399
That's pretty close to $10,000. I rounded up a little, but after taxes and hidden fees, it's probably far more.

Things have changed. I'm not surprised. They have to find a way to make more money. But one of the big selling points used to be that everything was all-inclusive and no money changed hands on the ship. If they charge extra, don't you have to whip out cash from time to time?

That is for the Penthouse Suite. Don’t you see all the other cabin prices, like for Inside Stateroom is $1849 per person, etc?

If you don’t have any shipboard credit, yes. You can use a credit card or your seapass card and you will get one bill at the end of the cruise.

You will never exchange cash on a cruise. I remember the time I bought some stamps to send post cards and it was less than $2 and they just charged it to my account.

Yeah, you just give them your credit card info and they have that on file and you just use your SeaPass for everything on the ship like drinks and for I.D. getting off and on the ship at ports. The only time I used any cash was at the ports.
