Sgt. Pepper re-issue
-
Just got back yesterday from AROTR and my deluxe set was waiting for me, but so much to do! You know how it is after a vacation! Will get to it later today.

By the numbers...
-
Is this deluxe boxed set numbered? Couldn't see any signs of being numbered

Number of George vocals: nil? Whoever did that is an idiot! How could they forget Within You, Without You?!

I don't see anything on mine. Anybody else?
-
No I don't think any of the sets do.

21 slides about Sgt. Pepper http://www.msn.com/en-us/music/gallery/the-beatles-sgt-pepper-turns-50-revisiting-the-iconic-album/ss-BBBK4lQ They said Linda was backstage at Shea in 1966. I thought she only was there in 1965 just as a concertgoer!

Listened to disc 1 and now just started disc 2!

Some diff opinions on this new remix, but wasn't it Giles Martin who did the much acclaimed Yellow Submarine Songlist for the rerelease of the movie many years ago? There are a good number of Sgt Pepper songs on that, so did they simply take those remixes of songs like Sgt Pepper/WALHF, LSD, When I'm 64 and use them for this remix, or did they start on those songs afresh?

Good question!

I got mine today!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to listen to it. Hubby said I looked like a little kid opening up a Christmas present.

Some friends of mine got free tickets for a listening party last night (6/1) at one of the larger AMC theaters in midtown Manhattan. The screening took place in a state of the art Dolby theater. The seats were these incredible recliners that were so comfortable. Someone from Sirius radio introduced the brief clips featuring Giles Martin explaining what was done to remaster the album and then all the lights were turned off and we were treated to the entire album in total darkness. It was an incredible experience to hear the album this way. The music literally enveloped you and you heard it with your entire body. There were so many layers of the music that were revealed. I have a new appreciation for the album now. And Paul was at the top of his form with his bass playing. He really elevated it to another level entirely.

Call me a party pooper (I've been called far worse), but I just have no interest in a remixed Sgt. Pepper. It's a historical artifact, imperfections and all, and I prefer it to stay that way.

Based on everything Giles has said....all of Pepper is newly remixed. I don't think Sam Okell, the Engineer on the new stereo mixes, was even around Apple when "Songlist" was released.

In my opinion, I don't think that the best sound quality has been released. The best overall sound quality lies in the underground. Look for The Beatles Dr. Ebbetts MFSL CD collection! This collection sounds better than anything that Capitol or EMI has ever released. Despite that, being The Beatles lover that I am, I still love the new Sgt. Pepper box-set!
