McCartney promising a "refreshed" version of 2016'
-
McCartney can think of only one reason he's able to play three-hour shows at age 74. "I like doing it," he says. "Once you get in front of an audience - and I've experienced this many times - it charges your battery." He's promising a "refreshed" version of 2016's One on One Tour, hitting cities he's never played, like Wichita, Kansas. His favorite moments include "A Hard Day's Night" ("That opening chord is still a thrill") and "Live and Let Die," which takes the end of the night to a new level. "All the girls in the audience say, 'You don't even have a sip of water.' Can you imagine the Beatles stopping: 'Excuse me, glug-glug-glug'? I'm not raised in the 'drink water' school." from Rolling Stone

_____________________________________________ Thanks puppy whimpers Not sure what this means...promising a "refreshed" version of 2016? Is he referring to just the fact that he will continue to do 3 hour shows or visiting new cities or markets that he has never been or hasn't been for a long time. My definition of a "refreshed version of 2016" has everything to do with at least a few new songs. Anything else has little interest to me.
-
My interpretation is probably a song or two swapped out. At least he didn't say "minty fresh" this time
-
What a joke THAT was huh? Refreshed version of the same ol same ol 2016 tour maybe means that he took a shower & a nap! j/k
-
Remember "minty fresh"? This is from the same department.
-
I won't believe it until I see it. But he did say that they planned on doing stuff from Flowers in the Dirt so hopefully he'll do it but I'm not sure though

Well, he should drink some water as any vocal coach will tell you. You should sip it during performance and not chug it - lol.

Probably means he took a few months off from the road - lol. I am guessing he will make a couple of changes, probably some different Beatle song. To be honest, I would rather hear about when the new album will be released.
-
I think a glance at the Tokyo setlist will tell you what changes he's talking about for the upcoming U.S. leg.
-
I'm betting he squeezes in a full band Fixing A Hole and Penny Lane somewhere in the set, with the Sgt Pepper reissue being the latest thing. (I expect no other changes, and I certainly don't expect anything from Flowers In the Dirt, despite its reissue.)

In all the pepper hype and everything I've been listening to out of the box (and finishing up the PBS special right now)...I desperately want "Penny Lane" live. I've seen this man twelve times...I deserve to hear one of his most gargantuan Beatle songs!

He's done Penny Lane. I've seen him do it numerous times

Last time in the US was 2005 but I think it has popped up in soundcheck.

Yes, and as mentioned...the last time on US soil was over a decade ago. It's due back.

Congrats you did. As mentioned, the poster has seen him 12 times and still hasn't heard 'Penny Lane', which means that it's not on current rotation at all. I guess he could bring out one of his classics again after 12 years, indeed. He played it during the one-offs in 2008 and in Liverpool since, but the fact he skipped it last time in Liverpool (and 100% did the usual program, which was very disappointing) makes me wonder whether he still wants to do it at all. Heard it at an open-field soundcheck in 2010 and he barely could sing it then.
-
I've only seen him do Penny Lane once (2005 I believe). It would be a welcome Beatle addition in 2017. Obviously one of his greatest songs and far, far better than I Want to Be Your Man or Birthday.
-
Regarding his comments, this is just the usual chatter. Shame on me, he fooled me once, he fooled me twice, and since I've hold no substance whatsoever to any promises on the setlist, and we all know it's not going to happen this time either. September will be the first window to keep our eyes peeled, which will be the usual "solo songs out, inferior new album tracks in" routine.
-
Well, didn't we already fail with the "minty fresh" set list
-
The fact they postponed the miami show for production reasons gives me some hope

Yes, I must say Horsens loved the new production they got promised.
