The ..2012.... Political thread

Fan Since 1964:
Correct. There is no victory yet. I agree it will come down to the Superdelegates no matter how many ongoing tallies are kept on this board. It was also announced on the 11 O'clock News just a few minutes ago that Sen. Clinton leads in the popular votes. Sen. Obama is not getting the white middle class vote and, like it or not there are some voters who will not vote for a black man or a woman either. Some supporters of both Democratic candidates said they would not vote for the other if their candidate did not get the nomination and would defect to McCain and his Bushesque policies, which is just what this country doesn't need. I still say that the two Sentors on a combined ticket might be a good idea to bridge these gaps because if the issues of racism and sexism in this country are not addressed by a unified Democratic Party we might just end up with Sen. McCain as our next Commander In Chief. Then I'm going to see how some of Obama's supporters who are yelling "Victory" prematurely will feel. As a comparison of claiming victory too early, President Bush stood on an Aircraft Carrier and declared "Mission Accomplished" and we are still at war. The Democrats have to nominate their most electable candidate, period. Things to think about.
Hillary on the ticket not going to happen. As I said earlier, if she is willing she can make a greater impact as majority leader. Lest anyone get me wrong, I am delighted to see the enthusiasm. I hope they can continue it. Skeptic that I am, there are voters you need to get and states you need to turn in order to win the white house. The founding fathers deliberately did not make it a mere popularity contest. I remember four years ago stopping into a local watering hole here in Boston. In the back room there was a large party with a map of the US watching the returns come in election night. They wanted to watch Kerry be elected I watched for a little while, and after Florida came in, I said: "Kerry's done". WHAT??!!! It isn't over!! The other states haven't come in yet!! Needless to say.......

CNN ( http://www.cnn.com/politics ) :- "Democratic race nears FINISH line". »»Bingo!... Update/Official Results :- Barack Obama after the Primaries in Oregon ( victory and 31 pledged delegates ) and Kentucky ( more 14 delegates ) is now only 64 Total delegates away from the nomination. And he won already the Majority ( more than 1627 State delegates, because Obama has now 1658 State delegates ).1658 pledged delegates + 307 Superdelegates = 1965 Total delegates. Meaning of this : -With more 40 pledged delegates of the last contests ( Montana,South Dakota and Puerto Rico, even if he loses Puerto Rico... ) Obama only needs more 24 (24!) SuperDelegates to secure the nomination. I knew it.

I am not doing the math at every juncture. I don't have that kind of time. My primary is over so the only thing I have control over is my vote in November. The Vice Presidental candidate on the Democratic ticket will also have a bearing on the November election because of the factors I mentioned in my post before last. It doesn't mean a thing who ends up with the Democratic nomination if that person/ticket is not electable and we end up with John McCain as the next Commander In Chief.

It doesn't matter how many delegate votes he gets, he'll never get enough electoral votes. He can never win the majority of the white vote, and without that he can never win the Presidency.

That is another story...As long as that fake, annoying looser candidate called Hillary ( Imaginary snipers?! attacks?!?!...lies!...etc...!?! ) is not in the White House again i will be very Happy. Senator John McCain is also a great man and a great Presidential candidate. The final conclusion of this Democratic and Republican Primaries/Process is that United States of America will have a new really GREAT President :- John McCain or Barack Obama. That is precisely what i wanted ( and worked for ) since the day 1 of this long process. ENOUGH of Clintons!...A new era for America has began...

You won't be so glib when John McCain becomes President and puts his foot up Hollywood's ass.

I am sure California´s Governor ( Hollywood´s "Terminator"!! ) and John McCain supporter will take care of that!...No,seriously i am Happy now :- The American Voters ( the Democratic Superdelegates,etc.. ) did the Right thing :- The very Best Presidential candidates ( McCain and Obama,of course ) will face each eather in a hard but fascinating Presidential race.
-
The best thing about the American system is that idiot Governor of yours can never run for the White House. He's as phoney as you say Hillary is. Well anyway I can't wait until the conventions are over with, so we can get down to the nitty gritty, and it's going to be really ugly. I feel sorry for Michelle Obama, they are going to rip her apart, she'll be a weight aroung her husband's neck. LET THE GAMES BEGIN.

you need Hillary.....like it or not. Obama can't enact his "change" without her.

As the wicked witch of the east said to Dorothy: "all in due time my little pretty, all in due time..."

So...wrong. Current House speaker Nancy Pelosi and former President Jimmy Carter ( Both Democratic Top leaders and SuperDelegates ) talking to CNN :-"A Obama/Clinton Presidential ticket is NOT a good idea. Its Unlikely".
-
A John McCain/Mitt Romney or a McCain/Charles Crist ( both men will be at John McCain´s Ranch this weekend ) will be a very Strong ticket to defeat.Barack Obama needs a really interesting, solid running mate, someone like, for example,Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius or New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. And NOT that repetitive, tiring Hillary!...Enough of Clintons. The Clintons´ era was in the 90´s...now we are in 2008.If Obama wants to defeat John McCain he should not include Hillary Clinton in his Presidential ticket, because that is a MONUMENTAL MISTAKE.That is obvious for many people...starting with many Top Democratic leaders...
-
uh, look back through my posts.....we aren't necessarily referring to the VP spot. btw, did anyone find it interesting to see both Hillary & Barack in Florida as the HBO film "Recount" is being shown Sunday night??? (it's a fim about the 2000 election)
-
If Mitt is on the ticket, that's a deal breaker for me...he did a terrible job here in Masssachusetts vis a vis our economy.

It is a shame there is a U.S. politics thread on Paul McCartney's official website. Very sad.

Posted on the index of talk more talk: If you just wanna chat about anything not Paul related... I see a lot of threads that I do not choose to enter because they do not interest me - or I do not have something to contribute to that thread - or have something different to say. I believe they should stay - even though I would like to see many of them erased - because they are part of an open forum - called talk more talk. Just my opinion. I do not like all the stuff that is said inside this thread -- but I knew there would be things like such in a political thread.
