America wasn't lucky to see and hear it live in '02 like our European friends did in '03.
Not that I recall! As far as I know the song was never played live.
It was definitely played on the Euro leg of the Driving Rain tour. It replaced the slot previously occupied by "Your Loving Flame." It might be on the Back In The World live-album, as well.
No it's definately not on that album,i can't recall ever hearing it live to be honest,"Your loving flame"is on the Back in the world cd,i have it.

I wasn't quite sure about it being on the live-album, but I am absolutely certain that I've heard a live version of it, although it's been several years since I'd heard it -- nor can I recall exactly what the source material was... ...somebody help me! Please.
-
you might be mistaken, audi, i was certain i'd heard him perform 'lovely rita, meter maid' live on a live concert cd, but was assured i had not.
-
I think you're right, Suz. An exhaustive Internet search has proven fruitless so far. I concede. I'm wrong. Damnit.

Maybe someone posted a bootlegged live recording up on YouTube (or something like that) and thats what you are remembering?

It was more than likely a boot, but definitely prior to The Youtube Age. I give up.

SusyLuvsPaul:
i don't like the part where he sighs and intones the name 'heather' in a long drawn out manner.
....and if he'd sighed and intoned the name 'susy' in a long drawn out manner, would you have liked that?

As if she hasn't already fantasized about that.

I love the song. I think it's a little over-produced but it's still good. I just don't like hearing the story of him jamming on a pianno and then when I hear it played, there is so much more than just a pianno. Also, I don't like how the DVD made it look. They have audio of Paul and Heather telling the story of this song and them he starts playing "Your Loving Flame".
-
what : it made me think of what all we know now, which gives you a chill of horror
-
I really love this song.... Heather was really lucky to have such a beautiful song written for her...
-
I remember something about Paul playing it at a show in Japan..one night only..but I have looked through all the setlists from that tour (2002/03)and it's not on there..maybe it's just a sound check?

the name of the song is not important ... or we can consider it after his daughter....after all Paul composed the track before thinking of a name to it...
He's not Woody Allen!
LOL! Love the song, though. It's a really beautiful track, no matter who it was written about.

Just was listening to this track with a fine bourbon (Blanton's single barrel if you must know ), and was thinking, can any of you think of a more uplifting, beautiful, more emotive little piano instrumental by any other artist? The music, the way it floats and flies, its really sweet. Our man Paul sure can get it right. and then of course he orchestrates ooooo's and aahhhh's vocals and guitars around it, and even does some lyrics over it there at the end. but just as a piano peice its amazing
Skills. Cheers. -
Lovely, uplifting melody.

I started a thread on this a while back probably last summer where I sang it's praises also. I had just gotten Driving Rain and heard it for the first time. It got stuck in my head which usually makes me hate a song but I loved this one. so cheerful.
-
It's brilliant, one of my favorite songs ever. Yes, that's how much I like it.
-
It is a beautiful song.
