Abbey Road on the River Lineup

I’m home and half dead. Took 5 1/2 hours to drive from Nashville to Atlanta. (1 hour too long) Rained, plus we were detoured onto a 2-lane road because of an accident on I-24. Will need a vacation to get over my vacation.
That's the worst part...all the driving & traffic.

Know how that goes! Once you've had a good rest you'll know that in spite of the traveling, being there was worth it.
In Wichita, I stood at limo watch for an hour in 95 + degree temperatures and no shade just to see Paul drive by for 10 seconds, and got a bad sunburn.... was it worth it? Yes!

OMG, I would have died of heat stroke! At AROTR, used tons of suncreen and an umbrella for shade. Brought a camp chair and sought out shade when we could. One day I figured I drank about 64 ounces of water and/or lemonade. Normally I am not a big fluid drinker. They let you bring one 20 oz (no larger) bottle of water in to the festival. There was a special place you could refill it with cold water (for free!)

Nancy, thanks for the 2018 AROTR reports. Since I missed this year and had such a great time at the 2017 Festival, I am certainly going to try to attend next year.
By the way, did Denny Laine, Laurence Juber and/or Steve Holley perform this year. I loved seeing all of them last year and hearing them perform all those Wings' songs
Can't wait to see the 2019 headliners and performers. I would love to see Paul's former group from Flowers in the Dirt and Off the Ground especially Hamish Stuart and Robbie McIntosh. If I saw them on the list, I would do everything I could to get there.

Sounds like you were really well prepared! The heat can be brutal! I used to do Civil War reenacting, and was at Gettysburg one year when it was 114! All of us ladies were in our Civil War clothes with corsets, pantelets and several layers of underpinnings and petticoats, etc. It was so humid some ladies there even resorted to doing the unthinkable... a brothel impression, just so they could have a reason to sit around in their Civil War underwear... I just kept drinking bottles of water, and for some reason was ok in the shade... but I felt especially bad for the guys... they had to wear their WOOL Civil War uniforms, and pretend to be fighting a battle when it was sooooo hot and humid... just because that's what they wore in 1863... Anyway, we just went down to the battlefield and kept bringing them buckets of ice, and would make sure the cavalry horses got lots of water. Poor things were so thirsty They really should have cancelled the event, it was crazy for all of us to even be there in that heat!

No Denny, Laurence or Steve this year! Next year so far is The Cowsills (They were on the Flower Power cruise I went on, but I missed most of their set because the stupid bartender gave my SeaPass to someone else and he had to go deactivate it and get me a new one! Grrrrrr!) Also Liverpool Legends - saw them last September in Branson, MO. Their Ringo used to be in 1964: The Tribute. Here they are. He is on far left.

Yikes, that’s for sure!

The Jukebox Beatles 2018. They should be back in 2019.
-
BritBeat 2018. They have played every year since 2009! I LOVE them!

Great photos Nancy. Was Denny Laine, Laurence Juber and/or Steve Holley at this year's show. Loved seeing them in 2017.
Please keep us posted if you hear anything about the headliners for 2019. Lately I've been listening to Paul's early 1990's live performances and it would be so cool if Hamish Stuart and Robbie McIntosh would make an appearance at AROTR one of these years. What great musicians they were.

You must have missed my post that answers your questions. Scroll up to yesterday where I posted pic of Liverpool Legends.

The Jukebox Beatles (from Puerto Rico-Francisco who plays George was born in the same town in western PR as my grandfather: Mayaguez!)

Sorry I missed your answer about Denny, Laurence and Steve above.
As far as next year's headliners, the Cowsills don't thrill me. Yes, I wouldn't mind seeing them but hopefully AROTR will come up with artists connected with the Beatles as a group or separately. Love to see some of the British Invasion Bands and as I said, someone who played with Paul, John, George or Ringo. As such a big Paul Solo fan, I would love to see Hamish and/or Robbie.

Thanks for posting the tribute band photos, Nancy! Must have been a great experience to hear them all. Didn't know there were so many Beatles tribute bands out there now. They should have them all on a tv show where people can phone in and judge which one is the best or something, lol.

Unfortunately, AROTR has changed slowly over the years to be more of a Beatles/‘60s festival when they started in 2012 to add headliners who were not big Beatles tribute bands (like 1964: The Tribute who headlined in 2011) They have had Jefferson Starship, The Beach Boys, The Zombies, Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals, Peter Noone and Herman’s Hermits, Vanilla Fudge, America, etc. They will announce others for 2019 and I’ll keep you posted. Since you went once, don’t you get emails from them? If you don’t, just go to arotr.com and sign up for emails. Send your requests to them at their email address which is listed on the website.
This year, only Geoff Emerick had a direct Beatles connection. ️ I was glad I got to meet him and get my book of his signed.
