AUSTIN CITY LIMITS FESTIVAL-WEEKEND OF 10-5: CONFIRMED
-
He did Friday and will do next Friday too.
Tonights show was just a re-broadcast. HOW CAN WE DOWNLOAD THAT WONDERFUL SHOW???????
-
Loved watching the stream of Friday's show! Paul looked terrific of course, and seemed to be in good form musically. Couldn't help noticing that he seemed to be wearing the same shirt he wore in Wichita, or one very much like it.
Also noticed the brass players who are with him on this tour could be heard at the end, during the guitar jam just before "And in the end... the love you take is equal to the love you make." Had never heard the brass with the guitars before on that part of the number.
On a few of the songs, he cut out their usual introductions, and just began playing after a few moments of applause. "Maybe I'm Amazed" is one example I can think of.
It was a great concert, and from the looks of it, it seems like Paul is not wanting to slow down in the least, he's still going strong, and I like that.

- Watching the livestream now - the band sounding great as usual, and Paul in good voice by the standards of lately. It’s interesting how he can be shaky on Hard Days Night and Hi Hi Hi and then clear as a bell for most of Can’t Buy Me Love. In my experience Can’t Buy is a pretty tough to song to sing.
Kind of surprising how weak he sounded on some tunes and how strong on others. Newer songs, which seem to be written for his current voice, mostly went better. My Valentine was beautiful -- but then I've always thought that one's an overlooked gem.

yeah I was kinda surprised by which songs he had trouble with. Hi, Hi, Hi, and Here Today in particular were pretty rough, but Maybe I'm Amazed was way better than I expected. Letting Go sounded good too. Blackbird was a highlight for sure with the whole crowd singing along

Yeah, I'd love to watch it. If it's on next week, I might try to catch it then and record it. I'd love some recordings of the new songs with him in a bit better voice than the Grand Central Station concert.

Hi Guys! Love2Travel and I were FRONT CENTER STAGE! If the show is ever released on DVD or Blu-Ray, L2T and I will be on TV! I know his voice sounded a little weak in the beginning, but his voice woke up and started rocking! I saw Paul's face right in front of me, he was very happy about the welcome the Austin audience gave him. I have never seen Paul so emotional on stage, when he sang "Maybe I'm Amazed," he REALLY wanted to cry! Paul REALLY misses Linda! I promise I will write a better review later today! All I will say to end this post is that Paul was FU*KING GREAT!

That's fantastic, so happy for you!! Will have to look at it again somehow to watch for you both! I was looking for you both in the crowd, lol. Glad you had such a wonderful experience, knew you would! Enjoyed reading your other posts about the concert, agreed with you about Paul warming up a bit as the concert went on, thought he really rocked, and was so terrific!!

love2travel here. I have to agree with jl4761. None of the You Tubes that I've seen, do any justice to the brilliant performance by Paul and the band!!! Wow, we were front and center and not back too far. The crowd was so excited to see Paul too... That's why I really enjoy festivals, they're so much more of a communal feeling.
Was really so excited to see that Paul played some tunes from his new album!!! We were singing away with the crowd and having a great time. jl4761 knows how to have a great time and has a booming voice too... I even heard him on the You Tubes LOL
Wish we could see the live show, Oobu's link didn't work.

love2travel here: Did Paul do a soundcheck for The Austin City Limits? Don't remember hearing one.

Found this video clip from the soundcheck, which the band did on Thursday, October 4. It was taken quite a ways back from the stage.

Why do you want to see it on video so bad, jl4, y'all were there at the concert and will be there next weekend...oh, is it cause you and LovestoTravel were so close to the stage "front and center," and you'll be shown in the audience...did you both wear Sgt. Pepper costumes? LOL, don't know where I got that idea, if you didn't

Hi Susy! I wasn't in Austin, I watched it on the livestream last night . I live in Kansas City, Missouri, and was able to see Paul in concert in Wichita last year. Really like the east coast though, and am hoping to move back there sometime within the next year or two.
