What are fans doing to pass the time during this Coronavirus period?

The Covid equivalent to where are my glasses?
They are on your head.
Where is my mask? (* as the person looks up and down and all around).
It is in your hand (or on yor chin, or on your head).

I am back to work with less people there and the precautions in place...
Once again I look forward to time off ...
It is a three day weekend for me and I am glad for it
-
Sitting outside in the cooler shade and enjoying the morning...
Lower humidity and a slight breeze ...
Happy 4th of July to those who celebrate it.

Since I joined the 21st Century, with the help of my amazing daughter and son, I have upgraded my music listening experience. Just listened to 3:47 EST by Klaatu. Remembered that they were thought to be a Beatle reunion album in 1976. Anyway, the album is pretty sensational; a bit Beatlesque, a bit of Wings, and a touch of Pink Floyd. Got me thinking of how many bands were simply dismissed by record company executives and never heard. Thank goodness that some reporter from Canada discovered this album and then wrote an article wondering if this was the Beatles. Now I can't stop playing Klaatu. Their next two albums, "Hope" and "Sir Army Suit" continue the Beatle/Wing sound and IMO very solid. Trust me fellow Paul fans; you will dig this music.

Okay I'll say it...
I miss doing things casually and not worrying about it, preparing for it, or looking over my shoulder for that magnifyed virus ball...
If I see a family member or friend I could shake their hand, hug them or be casual with no worries about it...
As an option go to concerts, sports things or not ... my decision ...
Go to a restaurant no restrictions... all their normal foods and seating..
Travel ...
And all that or not ... if I feel like it or not ...
No worries about it if I do...
I have done some of the things above with the new restrictions and rules in place ...
A few things are trying to be as close as they were and some things just have to be what they are ...
Oh well... just daydreaming for now.

There is a new must wear a mask requirement.
I have it narrowed down to a Groucho mask, a Nixon mask, a Yoda mask, or a Lone Ranger mask.
-
Trying to invent a travel safety mask so I can go to Europe.
Cool Beans The Fool, let us know which one you picked! Yoda sounds interesting...
-
The TV Series I've been really "binging on" over the last 2 weeks is "The Last Shiip". I am now on Season 3 and for me it has stayed very consistent. The writing and acting has been tremendous and I would recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.

Oops I was joking. They said wear a mask, but not what kind of mask. All the masks I mentioned would not be effectve.
I am going to have to be aware and thinking of taking my mask with me at all times now. I may not intend to go to a public place, but if I decide to spontaneously- I am okay. I went to help someone with home repairs, and realized if they needed parts I could not have gone. As an option or just in case, if needed - I have it.
On the travel part, i am so glad that i did my trip to Europe over a year ago (and not put it off ), because it wouldn't likely happen with the way things are now.

The Lone Ranger would work well for a disguise, and might add a dash of "Mask of Zorro" with a surgical mask. People need heroes now, so I'd go with the Lone Ranger/Zorro look.

Has anyone tried Brit Box? Just wondering, I enjoy so many of the British shows when I've been over to visit. Have been thinking of getting it, although not sure how it gets set up. Not as good with the computers as I'd like to be.
Hey, L2T! I've had the Brit Box trial a couple of times to watch a specific series. Binge watched 'em and didn't see anything else at the time I wanted to watch so didn't continue. You just sign up for the trial off of Amazon Prime video. I think it's for a week. I watch way too much British TV/series. Just watched first seven seasons of Doc Martin. It may have been on Brit Box. Had to take a break from that one for a while. I hope you and yours are well and getting along ok during this crazy time. We are well. I have an online poetry group and a local one, so those groups take up some of my time. Also, writing, of course. Yardwork factors in a bit. How are you spending your time these days?

Hi Fan 4-45 Thanks for getting back to me on Brit Box! I try to watch as much Masterpiece Theater and BBC as possible. Have been watching the Spanish Princess as well on Stars. Grandchester seems to be the only show on, although with a different Priest. Really am an Anglophile and sad Covid kept me from my month in Europe. Really am missing my friends in England and may go to isolate at a friends back garden Air BnB. Need to get way from Covid craziness hoaxers.
Was just starting a poem today, called COVID Hair LOL (been inside too long). Have been thinking of joining your group, have had to wait till the stores opened, so I can buy a new computer, get antivirus installed an then I can sign up. I imagine you're getting some good writing in!
Glad I put in a garden, think the clean air really helped the flowers, they're blooming like mad.
All the best to you and yours, stay safe, this virus is so damaging. Best Friend lost 3 parents in 25 days! Cheers

Hey, your Air BnB retreat sounds great. We cancelled our plans to do an Anne Boleyn tour in 2021, staying at Hever Castle four nights, bc of the uncertainty of the times. It seems unlikely that tour companies could have no income this year and still be in business next year. I hope they can.
I have been watching PBS's Beecham House on my computer each week. It's pretty good. British subjects in India in the 1800s. Yes, I love British TV, too, and watch so many series.
So sorry about your friend's losses. Take care!

Thanks, it just makes you realize how fragile life is in these moments and how you need to live unselfishly for your family and others, by wearing a mask and things like using wipes.
I did see party of Beecham House the last time I was in England. Very interesting about India being a British subject and the protocols back then.
How cool to stay in a castle, that is on my bucket list for sure! Poor Ann Boleyn. Very interesting watching Catherine of Aragon the Spanish Princess. The 2nd season is supposed to come out in the fall. Hope that still is happening. Imagine they will have Ann Boelyn in there and perhaps her life and her daughter Mary, perhaps until her death. Let's all hope the tourist company's can make it. I have just moved my trip, in the footsteps of Apostle Paul to next year. Fingers crossed!

Got some car work done.
Used the phone to call, the car was taken, worked on, brought back with repairs done all without seeing anyone. * i know the person well, would have talked and said hellos to other people there etc... instead it is all contactless except the phone call...
Sounds obvious but it is strange to me and out of touch out of sync out of the usual way not normal and not a way that I want to do things, but i know it is the way that i have to for awhile.

It is such a hot summer, I'm kinda stuck by the 1 air conditioner. Tomorrow will be a scorcher...

I've sought various distractions to get my mind off things. Reading is always paramount. At the start, I really enjoyed discovering more of the subtle, nuanced music of R.E.M. Their lyrics are intellectual; Michael Stipe said he doesn't write "love songs. Ick. They're odious." R.E.M. is a squeaky clean band, never a hint of groupies and drugs, which is rare. They did get hangovers recording in New Orleans, got tore up there, but they were in the French Quarter...after they hit big, bassist Mike Mills wore fancy, colorful Nudie cowboy costumes on stage sometimes, but the other band members stayed low key fashion-wise, yet dressed cool and hip in an understated way. R.E.M. didn't desert their birthplace as a band, Athens, Ga., even after getting huge; took a five year hiatus from touring (but not from recording) there in the midst of the mad whirl. "Rolling Stone" said the band's "Murmur" album topped "Thriller" by Michael Jackson ! And this was in the band's beginnings. Later, they earned the highest payoff in music history up to then, $80 million for their contract with Warner Bros. This, after years of roughing it playing night after night all over. "It was like Spinal Tap," they said, some of the joints they played. And R.E.M., said Mike Mills, "tried just as hard for an audience of 15 people." Then when the good times came of startling success, they must have felt, a little bit, like America's Beatles.
I got immersed to a lesser extent in B-52s feel good party music too. That band also originated in Athens. Its music isn't usually as cerebral as R.E.M. can be, but their music stimulates a different pleasure zone--more often highly danceable--makes you want to move. R.E.M. boasts some numbers like that too, but with more interesting lyrics. Fred Schneider of the B-52s said he knows his band has "limitations but we try the best we can with what we have." I thought that was refreshingly honest and humble of him. Their songs help lift one's spirits and tickle your funny bone in these dark times, can be clever and witty. I listened to some Tame Impala and was impressed by their deep emotional lyrics and sound. They used scenes from Twin Peaks in one of their videos. That song is "I'm Changing."

Flying out to help my sister move further from the fires hopefully.
PS Anyone who is thinking America is great again, look around you...about 142,000 lives could have been saved if we had a leader who did what Angela Merkle in Germany did. We have the technology but we have a corrupt game show golfer for a leader who wont listen to experts or real doctors and has NO PLAN. I bet those 142,000 people who died and their families wish they lived somwhere else, where the leader actually was one. Please get out and vote for an experienced man who listens to experts, does not try to cause Panic, tries to unite the people and actually cares about Americans more than himself...Joe Biden
