Wonder if he'll drop Back In The USSR ?
Could not imagine Paul being that "tone deaf" and I don't think it would go over well with the audience. This would be a golden opportunity to play solo song he has never done before to replace it, sadly IMO he will probably just insert another Beatle song.
As long as it's What You're Doing, but Abe would have to hit the high notes for him!
Since Paul started doing Beatle songs that John sang the lead vocal, it really does open up things for adding different Beatle song to replace "Back In The USSR". He could go way back to "Meet The Beatles" and do song he shared lead vocal with John called "It Won't Be Long" which is uptempo and barely 2 minutes. Or as I posted previously, why not do "One After 909" from "Let It Be". It was another song where he shared lead vocal with John and perfect for the band to help him sing it. Maybe, he could finally do something people have always wanted and sing "Rocky Raccoon" in his acoustic part of the show. Song is really easy to sing and I bet the reaction would be great. Finally, "What You're Doing" works for me also.
PLEASE! No additional Beatles songs. Bring back Mrs Vandebilt. The Ukrainians voted for it during the 2008 tour. Here he performs it for the 1st time in Kiev.
I agree with no additional Beatle songs but we all know Paul -lol. I always thought it was great that the people in Ukraine voted for a Wings song and not Beatle song. This would be golden opportunity for Paul at concert if he did this to honor the people of Ukraine.
It would be great to hear again!

I think its quite reasonable to expect Paul to play several 'Let It Be / Get Back' era songs because of the link to the new film. So songs like Get Back / Two Of Us / I've Got A Feeling / Let It Be are bound to be in the set.

Did anyone see this on Paul's Twitter today? (as if he'd take requests!)
What would be on your dream Paul McCartney setlist? In anticipation of the GOT BACK tour and Glastonbury Festival, we've curated some of our favourite live tracks on @spotify. Listen here: mpl.pm/SOMBP
My answer: (again, just wishful thinking!)
No More Lonely Nights, What You’re Doing, Beautiful Night, Calico Skies, Little Willow, Here, There and Everywhere, I Will. Too many to name them all! Please drop Mr. Kite and sing In My Life for John. Drop Something and sing While My Guitar Gently Weeps for George. ️️
-
If he insists on a Beatles-heavy show, how about some Beatles songs that he doesn't play a lot? You Won't See Me, Your Mother Should Know, Rocky Raccoon, Good Day Sunshine...

In our dreams he would do requests -lol. My wish list from his solo career would be "Little Willow", "Take It Away", "That Was Me", "About You" and or "Dance Til We're High". I am not including songs from "McCartney III" that I expect him to do (Find My Way, Slidin etc). There are many others but just picking a few favorites that I would love.
He already does "Here Today" for John but if he wanted another song for him I would select "Early Days" from "New" which would be perfect IMO and song he could sing. I think Paul has done great job with "All Things Must Pass" and that would be the song I would swap "Something" for in his set list.
There are too many songs after his Beatle days that he has ignored so I would not put a Beatle song on this list. If I had to choose one, I would make it something like "Rocky Raccoon".
P.S. Wouldn't it be nice if Paul put that type of tweet on his own web site board -lol .

Great Post Yankeefan.
Like you said, I hope that Paul "adds" some Solo songs that he has never done (or rarely done) before. I was so frustrated when Paul didn't do 2 of the best songs on Egypt Station in 2018...."I Don't Know" and "Dominoes". Both songs are way better than "Fuh You" and "Come On to Me" in my opinion. And maybe he could do "Happy With You" as a tribute to Nancy. Love your choices for new tributes to John and George also.
Finally I would love "Rocky Raccoon" as a new "Add-On".
Thanks

Maybe someone can post Paul's Soundcheck doing "I Don't Know" in Glasgow from 12/14/2018. What a great song and I have no doubt that Paul could add it to the "Got Back Tour". He can make up for not doing "I Don't Know" on the last tour.

I think it would be great addition but the question is what song would he eliminate so he could add it. He is not going to drop "My Valentine" so it would have to be something like "Queenie Eye" which would be fine with me.
I got a hunch he is going to drop "Back In The USSR" and replace it with "Mrs. Vanderbilt" which is song Ukraine people voted for years ago, seems like a no-brainer decision to me if he dedicates song to Ukraine people.
I think the "Egypt Station" songs like "Fuh You", "Come On To Me and "Who Cares" may be the ones cut to make room for "McCartney III" songs.
I believe it is safe to say there will be new opening song. As much as I would love it to be "Find My Way", it will probably be some different Beatle song.

I think Getr Back has a good chance of being the opener. No chance I Dont Know gets played

Thanks so much Oobu.
I think "vocally" could handle "I Don't Know" since it was a song he wrote just a few years ago.

"I Don't Know" was played at most soundchecks during the 2019 US tour...it sounded great!!

That is such an importmant statement and shouldn't be underestimated. A lot of the problems Paul potentially faces for his forthcomingtour is having his vocal performances compared with studio/live vocal performances of 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 years ago. And although understandable its also quite unreasonable. He would be on far safer ground if he was to concentrate more on relatively recently recorded songs,so that the set-list comprises material from McCartney lll and New,with perhaps a few songs from Memory Almost Full and Driving Rain. With four albums to choose from, there's no need to go back any further than Driving Rain, which is already over 21 years old.

The Beatles would sometimes tune their guitars a half a step or sometimes a full step down when doing live shows. Paul has lowered some songs and it sounds like it is suppose to - until you play them side by side. Now - as a guess he would need to go 4 to 5 steps down and the song might lose much more of the original sound and come off as a cover song. While I would want him to do everything, I hope he can do everything with a good voice for the song. If he were to change the set list, this would be the way he would do it. This would be tough to limit or change a set list to go with the song and voice that works out the best. It is like telling a record setting runner to jog or walk the race - when you are known to be the best runner. The contradiction is, how can you not do the favorites? Hopefully he does well - very well.

Yes, it would be much safer ground for him to concentrate on the recent albums you mentioned but we all know that is not going to happen. His setlist will be dominated with Beatle songs as usual and for the most part with vocal help from his band he hopefully can sound decent. Paul usually is ok on mid-tempo Beatle songs he just needs to drop songs like "Maybe I'm Amazed". He sang "Get Back" at "Rock and Roll HOF" with David Grohl and was horrible. In RS review of that night, they tried to be kind and said Paul sounded "hoarse". IMO the crowd at the concerts will not care how he sounds, they will happily sing along to Beatle songs with him and be thrilled they saw a Beatle. The thing to watch is what the media says about his vocals in their reviews and comments made by people in youtube clips of the shows.

I've said that numerous times. He should do more songs that he wrote in the last 20-30 years. Keep a few signature songs but stick to songs that he wrote with his "older voice". I know he won't do it because he wants to please the Beatles people. (and they don't know much of his solo work)
-
If we go way back to the beginning of this thread many years ago, I and others like BJ said it is not that hard to be fair to everyone. Paul usually does around 37 songs at his shows and if he did 20-22 Beatle/Wings songs that should be enough to please the "first timers". I will mention that the Rolling Stones only did 19 songs in their entire concert when they visted the city I live in several months ago. The remaining 10-15 songs IMO should be from his latest solo albums including "The Fireman" .
I have tinkered with his set list of his last concert before COVID which I believe was at Dodger Stadium. I believe it would satisfy Beatle fans and give solo fans some different songs. I would have deleted some songs (My Valentine & Let Me Roll It) but know Paul will not do it . I eliminated "Maybe I'm Amazed" because he can't sing it anymore IMO and know full well he will still continue to do it. In the end, I think this is a good show and has something for everyone.

I agree with those who have suggested that Paul do some of his "older voice" songs that were written of the last 20 years... maybe stretch to 30 years.
Arrrrrrrgghhhhhhh! <~~~~~~ I quoted and replied to the set list ...
and it only quoted that and not my writing... zap gone.

(Replying to Yankeefan2 set list)
I quoted the list and zapped away my own comments.
Helter Skelter would tear up a voice for future shows.
I am hoping that Paul's voice is perfect for all his concerts...this is only saying that if for some reason his voice is not perfect for one of the concerts...Paul may have to get creative by reinventing the way he does some songs with the song noticeabley lowered, having the band sing parts for a stronger strength in a chorus or a double tracking thing about it and some audience parts in a chorus.
hopefully he does some McCartney 111 songs to support his latest album. The "older voice songs" written more recently would also be nice to hear because the odds are he hasn't done them as much.
The list looks good, a few changes here and there possibly, but that would minor. I know that Paul will do what he wants and that is fine - it is still fun to play around with different set list ideas. -

It did that because the original post was so long. That's why your response got cut off.
