What was the first song you heard from Paul McCartney that made you a fan?
-
@njr I think there is some confusion here. Somebody asked ne about an album called "McCartnetiii" I have never heard of this particular album. Somebody else mentioned McCartney 3. I don't have McCartney 3. I have heard tracks from McCartney 3 and wasn't very impressed. In fact I'm not all that impressed with any of Paul's "McCartney" albums. Probably the best of the bunch was "McCartney" releases in 1970. McCartney 2 was dreadful 1980s synth pop. Only Coming Up was really any good. Temporary Secretary was unlistenable noise. I think Paul's song writing skills work best when he's working in a band. Somehow a band seems to inspire him more. Just my opinion.

@wandy I will certainly agree that "Temporary Secretary" was unlistenable. Calling it mere noise is too kind. It was an embarrassment of epic proportions. I cringed on first listen and thought....."How could the person who wrote "Eleanor Rigby" write this tripe??!!! I never listened to it again. And refuse to!

@beatles4ever-1 Yes, sadly the 1980s were the times of the synthesisers and cold electric computer keyboards. And sadly seemed to be lead by British bands like Humsn League and Depeshe Mode and such like. Horrible. And also, sadly, Paul seemed to jump on the band wagon, possibly trying to remain trendy. He who once lead, was now following ️

Mr. McCartney is like that. It's like a kid. You give him a simple toy and he turns it into a bomb. The great example with the Milestrone. Sorry if I distort. Mr. McCartney is a jack of all trades. He can't stay in one place with one instrument in a room. He has to have thirty-six thousand to go from one to the other. He's kind of like me. I just don't have thirty-six thousand instruments. I have seven. That's more than enough. -
@littlewillow Yes it's reassuring to know he is human after all. Still it's better to have him in our lives, faults and all, rather than not have him in our lives at all. My life would certainly would have been quiet unentertained without JPG and Ringo.

Sorry, this new board is hard to follow who said what to whom. It was Little Willow who made the typo and meant McCartney III. She was talking to you and I thought it was the other way around.
-
@njr well it was a long and winding road, but you know what? I think we can work it out, we can work it out. Life is very short and there's no tiiiiime for fussing and fighting my friend.

"Oh Darling" -- belting it out on the beach in Ashkelon, summer of 1974.
-
Either "All my loving" or "til there was you" or anything off of the "hard day's night" album. I was in the 8th grade, so 11 or 12 y.o.
-
@wandy For sure!! JPG&R were the best thing to happen for many of us.
-
@njr I'm really not liking this new board at all!!!!! If they thought it was an improvement, they have another thought coming!!! This is awkward and one ends up commenting to someone different about something different than they thought they were....as it all is set up now. For example: I was trying to comment to Little Willow and it all ended up being to you???!!! Now, I do like you and love reading your posts, but......
-
@beatles4ever-1 Try to see it my way, only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong. While you see it your way....

@littlewillow Penny lane... man I've listened to that song thousands of times. The music video is very cool as well. Johns voice is amazing. I always have noticed that John and George's voices are kind of similar it's almost like George's voice is a mixture of Paul's and Johns.

If 8th grade, you would be 13 or 14! (you are 11/12 in 6th grade)

You probably hit the “reply” above instead of below the post you wanted to answer. I agree that this is very confusing at times! The way it was before was much clearer.

@njr Yes, that's exactly what I did. I also liked it better before....another reason was because I used to be Beatles4Ever, had been for quite sometime. For whatever reason I couldn't get it back....my own mistakes probably, but I was told that since it was already taken....yeah, by me...I would henceforth be Beatles4Ever 1. So let it be written, so let it be done. That's who I am now!!!
