Paul McCartney- New Album for 2023
-
Take a look at the post its, it looks like he is working on something. "Apples on a pond?" "Fairchild #1?"
Notice how in this older photo he does not have anything on it
It's always interesting to see how he works. -
I'd like to solve please.
Ripples... On... A... Pond.

@njr Thanks Nancy.
One of the songs on the "McGear" album that was a Single was a track called "Leave It". It made it to #36 on the UK charts.PS the original or studio version of MIA is the version I hear almost all the time on the radio. The live version from Wings Over America is easy to tell from Paul's vocals. I love both versions but if pushed I would choose the Studio version by a tad over the live version. Because you hear the studio version far more on the radio, I chose to put the "live" version of my proposed "Starter " CD for Leftovers and Rarities.
Well, where I live they never play the studio version of MIA - always the live version! Strange!
P.S. Paul is listed as playing bass.

I HOPE that’s an “R” and not an “N!”

I thought about that too! What type of ponds has Paul been going to?

Besides the 1 CD "Starter" Set, another option to consider for "Leftovers and Rarities" is a 2 CD Initial Package. After doing the Tracklist for this Set, l like this one the best. Basically we go from 1970 to Egypt Station (2018). Since Paul/MPL just released the 3 CD McCartney Albums/Trilogy Package, I thought it make the most sense to stop at Egypt Station for the 2 CD Leftovers and Rarities Set. Here is the Tracklist:Disc 1
- My Old Friend
- Goodbye
- A Love for You (InLaws Soundtrack)
- The Mess (Live Version and B-Side)
- Sally G. (B-Side Version)
- Maybe I'm Amazed (Live Version/ Wings Over America)
- Daytime Nighttime Suffering (B-Side Version)
- Waterspout
- Cage
- Rainclouds (B-Side Version)
- On the Wings of a Nightingale
- Yvonne's the One
- Loveliest Thing (B-Side Version)
- Back on My Feet (Acoustic Version)
- Once Upon a Long Ago
- The Lovers That Never Were (Paul-Elvis Costello
Demo Version) - I Can't Imagine (B-Side Version)
- Love Come Tumbling Down (B-Side Version)
- Flying to My Home (B-Side Version)
- Love Mix/Waiting for the Sun to Shine
- I Love This House
- Lindiana
- Squid
None of the above songs appeared on an Original Paul McCartney/Wings Album (Except Maybe I'm Amazed on the McCartney Album and The Lovers That Never Were on the Off The Ground Album). We are using different versions for both of those Tracks)
Disc 2 (To Be Continued)

Correction... I was rushing this morning and noticed that I made a mistake on 3 of my choices for Disc 2 above.
They are:9. Only Love Remains - Live version on the Great Britain Tube Show. On this Video, Paul plays the piano with Linda and Actress Judith Light singing back-up. Great Video and Paul plays a little snippet of Great Balls of Fire at the end (Instead of the song "Magic" above)
11. Home Tonight - Written and Sung by Paul during the Egypt Station Sessions but not included on the Egypt Station Album. (Instead of the Song "Celebration" above
24. In a Hurry - From the Egypt Station Sessions but not included on the Egypt Station Album.
(instead of the Song "Dominoes" above)

@b-j-conlee For me, your post is “below” not “above” since I click on “Newest to Oldest.”

Re: Leftovers and Rarities "Proposed CD Package"After careful deliberation, I think the 2 CD Compilation makes the most sense. From my research, Paul has plenty of relatively "unknown" material that is good to great imo. A 2 CD Compilation makes a big enough splash and the Track List alone will create a lot of curiosity.
Below is my Track List:
Leftovers and Rarities
2 CD Package
Disc 1-
My Old Friend- Written by Carl Perkins during the Tug of War Sessions
-
Goodbye- Demo by Paul for Mary Hopkin
-
A Love for You- Written by Paul during the Ram Sessions. Best Version is on the In-Laws Soundtrack.
-
The Mess - Live Version and B-Side to My Love Single.
-
Sally G - B-Side to Junior's Farm Single

@b-j-conlee
I sometimes find "the best of " articles interesting especially if its about my favorite artist Paul McCartney. This one was called simply "32 Underrated and Obscure Paul McCartney Songs".
Being a hard core Macca fan, I often read them to compare their list to rare Paul songs that I personally like/love.
In this list a bunch of deep cuts were listed and I couldn't disagree with any of them. In the top 10, the author listed a couple ones that I really love#5 was "Somebody Who Cares (from Tug of War) and # 4 was Dominoes (Egypt Station). I couldn't argue with those choices but what really shocked me was his #1 choice. It was totally unknown to me called "What Do We Really Know". Paul wrote it to be included on his Brother's Album called McGear (1974). While I was a big Paul fan, I've never listened to any of Mike McGear's discography. Of course, we later found out that Mike's real name is Mike McCartney. Mike's big brother not only helped him on the Album by writing several songs, he also brought ii other members of Wings to play on the Album.
That really got my curiosity and Questions:
Are any of these songs good?
Were any of the songs issued as "Singles"
How good is the song "What Do We Really Know" that this obscure article listed as #1 among his 32 Underrated and obscure McCartney songs.Has anyone here heard the album " McGear" and is it fairly good?
ThanksPS Maybe one of these songs could be a candidate for a Leftovers and Rarities type album/CDg
I had a Mike Mgear cassette back in the 70s produced by Paul. Don't know what happened to it but I remember I liked it.

Correction...
Track #21
The correct title should be:
"I Love This House"The great David Gilmour plays lead guitar on this track.
-
The 2 Disc Package above has a total of 48 tracks (23 for Disc 1 and 25 for Disc 2).
Personally I don't care if Paul/MPL uses a "Starter" 1 CD Package or the 2 CD Compilation. In my opinion, this "Leftovers and Rarities" type of release needs to be done. Paul has too many good songs that deserve to be heard. Most of the songs on both Disc 1 and Disc 2) are generally "unknown" to casual Beatle and Paul fans.
I will add a "Honorable Mention" List to this 2 CD Package I have listed. Again, I don't care if Paul decides to substitute some of these additional songs over my Lists above, as long as a Leftovers and Rarities Release gets done. For Paul's Post Beatles' full Career, it needs to be part of his total Discography.
Thanks for your attention.

@b-j-conlee
Below are some of my "honorable mentions or substitute" songs to my 2 Disc Compilation I posted above.-
Vanilla Sky- from the Vanilla Sky Soundtrack CD.
-
My Soul- from the Nitin Sawhney CD called London Underground. Paul wrote "My Soul" for this CD.
-
Maybe Baby- Paul's cover of the classic Buddy Holly tune. Paul's cover is a faster version of the original and appears on the Maybe Baby "Movie/Soundtrack ". It has an ELO feel to it and I love it.
-
Jenny Wren- Live Version done on the "Chaos and Creation- Live at Abbey Road" TV Show.
-
Long Leather Coat - B-Side to the "Hope of Deliverance" Single.
-
Big Boys Bickering - B-Side to the Hope of Deliverance Single. Paul and Band do an excellent "Live Version" on the MTV Up Close TV Show at the Ed Sullivan Theater.
-
Sweet Sweet Memories- B-Side to the "Off the Ground" Single.
-
Keep Coming Back to Love - B-Side to the "C'Mon People" Single.
-
Try Not to Cry- Live Version done at the Turn of the Century "PETA" Show in Los Angeles. Great Version with David Gilmour's blistering middle Solo.
-
Shake a Hand - from the "Live at the Cavern". Classic Paul Vocals.
-
I'm Carrying - Great Deep Track on London Town Album. Best Version is on the "In-Laws Soundtrack.
-
Celebration - From one of Paul's Classical Albums. Paul and Band also did "Celebration" Live on the Internet Secret Show along with the Unreleased song "India".
-
Early Days- One of the Best tracks on Paul's "New" New Album.
-
That Was Me - Live Version done on the Amoeba Gig in Los Angeles. Originally on the Memory Almost Full Album and Paul only did it "Live" at a handful of Shows.
-

-
House of Wax - from Memory Almost Full. Use Paul's best "Live" Performance.
-
Dominoes - Along with "I Don't Know", it's one of the Best Songs on the Egypt Station Album.
