I always thought John and Paul sang Words of Love, but I read in Ian McDonald's book Revolution In The Head that in the early days John and George sang it. Now when I listen, it actually does sound like George singing the high part. Any thoughts on this? Or is it just "No, it's Paul!"?

The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions by Mark Lewisohn says it's John and Paul singing harmony, and completed in three takes!

Yeah, it likely is Paul, yet recently it just sounds like George. The power of auto-suggestion!

Early days in Beatles lore is Cavern or Hamburg era. Perhaps Paul and George sang it together then? Like John used to sing Honey Don't...

Maybe, But on the record, it is clearly John on the low melody, and book said John and George used to sing it. Never read Paul and George did. And if you listen to John and George sing together on back up vocals, like on I'm Down or Kansas City/Hey Hey Hey, George does sound a lot like Paul.

I know I am not crazy! On this site, it says all three sing on it, and scroll down to comments and many people say it is George singing, and not Paul. http://www.beatlesbible.com/songs/words-of-love/ I am not saying they are totally right, just that I am not totally crazy!

I think you may be correct. I have read that it is all three, and that it is either a tight three part harmony or maybe George and Paul are singing in unison. Cool!

I am convinced George is singing on it. He can clearly be heard, if you listen.

Yes! Thank you, Prudence! I always loved this song, and think it is another example of how amazing their vocals were.

True. But I believe George is singing too. You can HEAR him. I hear Paul mostly in the fade out. A LOT of folks think it is the three of them singing and that is what I believe. It is a brilliant rendition!
