Yep, very good review by DrummerFromFife there, I give it five stars, regardless of what I think about the album. You put a lot of time and thought into it.
Thanks... Yeah, that's the thing with me. I've reviewed a fair few Ringo products, and I have a habit of going into extreme detail, but hey, it gets my thoughts out, and it's nice that people agree
Thanks, very comprehensive review, and I think I agree with your rankings more than not. By the way, Billboard reports that the album sold 7,000 in "equivalent album sales" in its debut week. That's a new thing with Billboard, if you're not familiar. That includes sales of the entire album, plus individual track downloads that get added up to full albums.

7,000 sales... I'm assuming that translates into a hit

Not that I'm trying to promote 'bootlegs' but I've accumulated youtube videos for the homemade 'promo' dvd. There are ways to do it. That'll be my bonus dvd. Though I miss the making of dvds

Enjoyed the review, am just listening to this album... Very enjoyable!

Glad people like the review. Extreme detail, I know, but when I'm reviewing things, I like to be thorough. Leave no stone un-turned essentially, and hopefully it'll convince passers to give the album a proper go, and eventually they'll enjoy it as I did

Thank you to all those who replied regarding the absence of a deluxe edition, and congratulations to the person who posted such a detailed review. Which TV and radio shows has Ringo been to so far in order to promote the album?

Just Conan and Ellen DeGeneres, and a live Twitter stream. He didn't even perform on any of them.

Indeed. I'm also less enthusiastic, but the album is growing on me. There's nothing on it I really dislike (and most of Ringo's albums have a couple clunkers for me), and there are a few tracks I like a lot, including Bamboula, Rory and the Hurricanes, You Bring the Party Down. I'm not usually a fan of Ringo's love songs -- I actually don't think his voice is suited to the slow, sentimental stuff at all -- but "Not Looking Back" is really lovely. Given what one might reasonably expect from Ringo, this is a solid effort.

Well, it seems that Rory and the Hurricanes is everyone's favourite from this album. For good reason of course
-
And I have been pretty much unable to get "Rory and the Hurricanes" out of my head all day today. Good one, Ringo!

It's all a part of Richard's evil plan to raise the popularity of Alan Caldwell's Liverpudlian skiffle group that Richie was originally a part of, before the Beatles came, asking for help..... Or it could just be that it's a super catchy and enjoyable song

These lyrics!! PMSL!! I sensed you there and everywhere Until I saw you standing there I am the greatest fan of you And love is all I've got to do It's all too much my little child If you will be my honey pie Eight days a week you will be mine And get in bed all of the time I'm begging you don't pass me by And if you do please tell me why I know you told me yesterday You've got to hide your love away But if your honey is bad to me It told me "love and let it be" Postcards from Paradise With all my love and I'll be true Postcards from Paradise As ever P.S. I love you Postcards from Paradise I would not treat you for no one I see your face here comes the sun And I am going nowhere man Because I want to hold your hand It's like I said the night before I'll love you when I'm sixty four I know that we can work it out There ain't no need of twist and shout And I won't back off boogaloo Unless you say you love me do

With Rock n Roll Music, I Feel Fine Run for your life Taxman, it's Revolution number 9 Hey bulldog things we said today will never get clunky Coz everybody's got something to hide except me and my monkey....

Well, a few lyrics you posted were wrong, but still, Postcards is a wonderful song. It's a rare thing when a serious song actually makes me laugh. That actually happened when I first gave it a listen. I heard the words "I won't Back Off Boogaloo until you say you Love Me Do"... I knew I was gonna love this song

I think the album grows, I play it every day. "Rory and the Hurricanes" remains my favorite.

Dude, I'm totally with you on Rory. It is a brilliant piece of music. Hell, the entire album is wonderful to me
-
This just occurred to me. Postcards has all those Beatles song references... they're hard to miss.... and yet there was only one Ringo song in there, Don't Pass Me By.... You'd think he and Todd would have tried to fit in A Little Help From My Friends. It is his signature song after all

Well when there's really only two TRUE "Ringo" songs to pick from

Ringo also appeared on Chris Carter's "Breakfast with the Beatles" show on April 5th, and a few other radio shows. Here's a link to that interview (happens during the last hour): http://beatlesradioshows.tumblr.com/page/2 As a part of the radio interview he did on Chris's show... I got to meet Ringo... hence my profile picture!
