This is terrible!! Sounds a little like Paul in the background in the chorus. But this is really bad regardless. Poor Ringo 😞

Abysmal is the word I used. I stand by that.

I listened to the song twice. I don't find it "abysmal". Is it a classic? No. But does it have a certain charm?....you bet it does. And the chorus is quite catchy, too. I like it. It has a smooth hypnotic hook. It is a tribute to those glorious songs of yesteryear. Think about it, only one person in the entire world played drums on those great Beatle songs. For him, those songs and all the great memories that go along with them are his Postcards From Paradise. Just imagine what that must have been like for Ringo to sit at his drum set in the same room with the other three Beatles. To share the stage with his mates. To watch John and Paul and George create these amazing melodies and timeless riffs and moments of pure magic, songs that will live on for centuries to come. Songs that captivated an entire generation both then and now. These are songs that changed the world. No other drummer experienced that, except for Ringo. Postcards from Paradise indeed. I am cool with it!

Great post! Ringo is the man!!

Ringo is the man - but this song is the pits.

I honestly don't hate it, I think compared to some of the tracks off Ringo 2012 it is pretty good. I kind of like all of The Beatles song references in the song. The chorus is Bowie-esque. It will for sure grow on me!

It's the ubiquitous Beatles references that turn me off. As mate observed he almost never mentions the name of his "other band" on stage, yet he consistently references them, his mates or Liverpool in song. C'mon Richy, you're capable of better than that.

On one listening it doesn't do much for me, but Ringo's done worse. We'll see what the rest of the album sounds like.

I did not realise that.... but it would explain why I like it so!

Wrack My Brain is "Abbey Road" compared to this song!

Not sure whether to applaud him for creatively weaving a past reference in every sentence or slap him for such elementary lyrics. The music is interesting and the main hook is the 'Postcards from Paradise' line but it almost has a Mark Hudson trademark; the Ozzy vocal filter. If this is the only song to have that much reference then I can live with it; the true test is hoping this does not repeat for ten more songs. I give Ringo two more albums before he hangs up 'writing/collaborating albums.' I suppose his (i'm stretching this word with a grain of salt) 'concept' is looking back on each moment (each song) as a postcard from that golden age of his past.<==This probably didn't take much effort to come up with this conclusion. lol

Thanks. It's not nearly as terrible as the comments here suggest. It's a cute enough Ringo song.

"Cute" is kind of the most positive thing you can say about it, I think. It doesn't help that the production is kind of lifeless, like someone just turned on a bunch of settings and let them run through the song, except for those inexplicable '90s hip-hop screeches thrown into the chorus. I got tired of Mark Hudson's in-your-face production by the time Ringo split with him, but at least there was some thought behind it. Ever since, the production on Ringo's albums mostly feels like an afterthought. One other note: I misheard the lyrics in the chorus the first time as, "With Paul my love and I'll be true" instead of "With all my lovin' I'll be true." 😉 I do think this song is one of his rare ones that could get played live, though. It'll be hard for him to resist stoking that nostalgia.
