I think some of us should search out "The Beatles Anthology...1993, Directors Cut". There are a lot of opinions that were cut out but they are on this set.
Care to fill us in??
It's a 10 dvd set so waay too much too discuss but google it & there you'll find many descriptions. Most of what I just found on google are ebay links so I can't post that here.
I'd love to check this out, and get that extra/alternate footage, although I always worry about the quality of these things. Anyone seen it/got it that can account for the quality?
I have it Toris. All on VHS though. The quality is very good although it's a working early draft: that means some songs left out, time signals throughout etc... Worth checking out.
Thanks, mate! I wish I was young enough to ask "what is VHS?"... I've done some googling on it, and it sounds excellent...
I have it on dvd. Many of the reviews say that much was cut and/or left off including interviews. I think some of it may be on youtube too. Although in just checking the last parts seem to have vanished.
And I did check out You Tube... a lot on there... but yeah, I couldn't work out if it was all on there!

Take a listen to the little snippet of backwards conversation between "I'm So Tired" and "Blackbird." What does it say? Maybe someone here can digitally reverse it and post it here. I'm surprised that this "intentional" feature of the White Album is rarely discussed.

Does it not allegedly say "Paul is dead, man, miss him, miss him"?.... I know, it is a slight anomaly! ... haven't got my head around that one yet!

And I many years ago did pull the band off my record player and play it backwards... and it did sound like that...

From Wiki re the song: At the very end of the song, what seems to be nonsensical mumbling can be heard in the background. The mumbling, if played backward can be imagined as something along the lines of "Paul is a dead man. Miss him. Miss him. Miss him."[4] This only adds to the many supposed references to the "Paul is dead" conspiracy scattered throughout the White album. Mark Lewisohn has said that the nonsensical mumbling is actually Lennon muttering, "Monsieur, monsieur, how about another one?"[3]

There is no doubt that it does sound like "Paul is dead man, miss him, miss him"... heard it myself, so I know it to be true... BUT.....

Wiki doesn't say if the "Monsieur, monsieur..." is heard backwards or forwards. I remember manually tracking the LP backwards years ago and I could clearly hear the "Miss him. Miss him. Miss him." part. It would be cool if someone here could digitally reverse it for us.

I'm So Tired

Me and my mate played it backwards - geez, 25-30 years ago - so, I'm up for a refresher!

I'm So Tired
I'm not even going to listen to it backwards.... I'm too busy listening to it in its forward beauty! One of my fave Lennon songs.... although now listening to it backwards, it still sounds good!

I love this one too.

Paul's piano intro to 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' is 1 of the highlights of that song. Paul never got his due. Has George ever thanked Paul publicly for his contribution?

I doubt he ever even thanked him privately :

I love the piano sound on Sexy Sadie. What makes it sound like that? Was it recorded slower and sped up? Was it double tracked?
The book I have only says that Paul played the piano. No other details about it. Anybody have anything?

It is actually John mumbling some gibberish forwards then he says "Julian." If you play it backwards it sounds like "Paul is dead. Miss him, miss him, miss him!"

I had never paid to much attention to the piano in this song I'm ashamed to say so I found this YouTube tutorial of Paul's piano track in this song. The person playing explains that Paul plays arpeggiated chords on the song's bridge. I'm not a musician at all so that means nothing to me....sure sounds interesting though!

Wow. Paul's piano part is beautiful. It's a shame it was buried so much in the mix that its barely heard in the song.
