Two of us movie
-
Just rewatched this last night. I enjoyed it. Somewhat distracting to have the actors not look anything like John and Paul, but love the sentiment. Thought it was well written and realistic for fiction. Probably boring to non Beatle fanatics, but makes me nostalgic wishes their friendship had time to truly be renewed. Your thoughts?

I've seen it a couple times and I bought the DVD last year. Aidan Quinn was "okay" as Paul, but the guy who played John was butt-ugly!! I told Tim Piper they should have gotten him instead (he played John in The Linda McCartney Story and does the JL Imagine tribute) The story itself was fairly good and apparently most of what they portrayed did happen. I liked the part where John whips out the disguises (moustashes) and they go walking in Central Park etc.

I actually really appreciated this movie. Although did not know of its existence until being on this site. Watched it a couple of years back. For the fact it was endeavoring to convey a most important "what if?" time for Beatles fans. And more so, the dynamics of "soul friends" who (may have) lost that connection, but were still trying to reconnect. It was like watching a movie on Jesus, however, in that I knew how it was going to end. Some of these movies, however, always portray John as some nasty, acerbic fellow.... now, he might have not suffered Trumps (I mean, fools) gladly, but they always seem to focus on the "down" side of John. He is often portrayed as some nasty dude in many depictions. That I think is unfair.

Beatles movies are bigger than Jesus movies.

I read somewhere that Paul did say that he dressed up in disguise & walked around NYC around that time. Not sure if it was with John in 1976. An interesting movie but it played to stereotypes too much. Especially the scene in the restaurant. John insulted the older couple for "bothering" him & then pushing the young fan's buttons about idolizing him & asking him what he thought of 'Silly Love Songs' - "Paul could do better.." LoL.

I completely agree with that sentiment tori. That's what I liked so much about Nowhere Boy (movie). They showed a very tough side of him, but also a very friendly, shy and vulnerable side. Everyone has lots of different sides, John Lennon was no different.

The guy who played John was Jared Harris from Mad Men (Lane Pryce) I saw this when it first aired on VH1 I never had to see it again, it was fine I guess. I remember thinking how would I react if I had ran across John and Paul goofing around NYC, probably just look on in shock haha

He is the son of Richard Harris! (Camelot)

It's an enjoyable film. I know that they (along with Yoko and Linda) did meet up in 1976. Also saw it when it first aired as well.

And probably later as James recounts that his dad told him that John held him as a baby, so that would've late 1977 or sometime in 1978.

They really did watch that episode of SNL together in 1976. And thought about going, but decided not to. Apparently Linda and Yoko were there as we'll though. Supposedly Paul tried to stop back again the next day with his guitar since the previous day went so well and John told him it wasn't the gold old days and turned him away.

I think John and Paul did meet up more times during that 1976-1980 period than has been revealed. Paul was always in and out of New York during that period, and unless John was away travelling (which he did do a lot of once he had his green card),then its difficult to imagine them not seeing each other.

I agree Kestrel. Paul was often in NYC for business and family but I know John travelled to Japan many times, but I find it hard to believe that Paul never visited John between the years of 1976-1980. (That's a question I'd love someone to ask Paul. Paul often talks about the last phone call, but when was the last meeting? All we know is what John mentioned in the Playboy interview (the SNL night) as the last time. I wouldn't disagree with John (he would know lol) but John often says different things in interviews especially when it comes to Paul).
