I think we have a misunderstanding. You posted "it would be lost on most folks." Sounds like you wanted to write, "it would NOT be lost on most folks?"

That would be a typo on my part!

Mmmm. Changes the whole slant of the conversation. Nevertheless, I take your point...but we have to disagree on this one. And that's bloody rare!

But "it would be lost on most folks?"
Wrong. You mean more than playing Temporary Secretary? Sorry, but no. If Paul pulled a full bagpipe band on stage in Phoenix or Denver, NO it would not be "lost on most folks."
If Paul pulled a full bagpipe band on stage ANYWHERE, I suspect everbody would know EXACTLY what was going on. Talk about a setlist shake up, but THAT'S over the top!

No point in arguing, he isn't going to do it anyway.

If Paul pulled a full bagpipe band on stage in the USA, would that be an "off kilter" performance?

Why not? It's not like it would have "kilt" his career!!

yes! Off with the kilt!

I think Mull Of Kintyre is right up there with his greatest songs (and there are so many) but I do think that. I really do.
I'd never heard of the song until '92 or '93 when The Disney Channel aired McCartney: Going Home, which featured that fantastic 1990 performance of "Mull Of Kintyre" with a Scotland pipe-band. It was the highlight of the special for me. It was also in that special that I learned what a huge commercial success it was. I think any audience anywhere would enjoy that song.

I was going to throw in my 2cents but I can't think of anything funnier.

_________________________________________________ Audi, Couldn't agree with you more. I have never understood why Paul doesn't play Mull of Kintyre in the US as much as he plays his other great Solo songs like Maybe I'm Amazed and Band on the Run. It is one of his greatest Post Beatles' songs. If some in the audience doesn't seem to know it, they will certainly get to like it rather quickly. One of the great music pleasures in life is hearing a new song that you like for the first time. You have that urge to hear it again. That is what would happen to many Paul/Beatle fans who are not that familiar with it. As I have also said, Paul still sounds good singing Mull even at his advanced age. Another reason for it to be one of his signature songs in the Setlist no matter where the concert is located.
