London, Birmingham, Liverpool Pre-sale thread
-
Very disappointed by it all. I'm not blaming anyone from Paul HQ because it's like this at all concerts, but it's still a total shambles. I agree that membership purely to obtain pre-sale tickets is a kick in the face for everyone else, I feel like the whole pre-sale thing is just a sham. I mean how many were available to fans? Admin doesn't know, if they don't know then the quantity must have been minimal. But the whole Macca squad gets a pat on the back just because they had a pre-sale for the 'real fans' while corporate suit & ties from barclaycard, O2 and who knows we're else fill the front third of the arenas. I'll still go to Liverpool, I'll try on Monday and actually go down to box-office at the venue. If they only have minimal tickets again to sell to a large queue and I miss out, I'll still go. I will then buy from a tout outside the ground. Touts? Yeah, they're meant not to exist (but they do) Outside the ground? Thats not legal? (But it happens every single time guaranteed). The whole pre-sale thing is just a fairy tale, I was trying from 9:30am without luck. I just had this fantasy of seeing Macca in a decent seat, little did I realise I had more chance of getting tickets by standing outside toysrus or Mothercare waiting for Sir Paul to pass by and giving him my money. Oh well, well done those corporate 'fans', I hope Paul plays some songs that you might actually know.

Some thoughts from a former Maccaboarder and UK resident. Lots of my UK friends weren't able to get tickets to the three UK shows via pre-sale, sadly: https://joshgill.wordpress.com/2015/03/07/paul-mccartney-pre-sale-fail/ Thoughts?
False. Most scalpers are from the UK. ? 2) Fans from the UK ONLY should have been able to buy tickets.? THIS IS BULLSHIT.

Rubbish. Gig is in high demand. None of those points help addressing the problems surrounding events like this. All make-believe solutions. First of all it's the system online which is laughable. Server errors in 2015, while you know how much pressure there will be?! Then, it's the touts which should be stamped out, not people from outside the country. Suspending of registration wouldn't help one bit. Touts are registered way in advance, and the links would be passed around anyway. And even if tickets would go the people who are planning on attending the gig, the ratio demand/supply for a concert in Liverpool would still be 10 to 1, if not more. Regarding point 3, that's what it all comes down to: the industry (artist, bookers, venues and ticket agencies) are getting way too much benefit from this situation to hurry up and find a fix for these practices already. The fact the best seats/first chances on tickets are being wrapped into decadent champagne packages speaks volumes about the main goal of events like McCartney's.
I agree with you and the points you make. It could be argued the only way to stop touts in pre sales is to have a paid fan club with exclusive to paying members tickets and only the member may use the tickets but that would no doubt cause howls of anger, the only other solution is the mess we have now a free for all and a hit and hope kind of system that just gets on everyones nerves unless you hit lucky with tickets, its hard to know what would be the best thing but long term im sure tickets will become a thing of the past and everything will be on your phone and you just show it at the door.

I'm really sorry fans like Josh didn't make it in. I think because I was after one seat I had more luck. Don't forget this was just the presale, more tickets will be released on Monday.
I think he made some great points. But he'll only get slated on here (see another thread with someone already on his back!) on his foreign fans comment - seeing as most of them who got tickets post on here

He never said touts were from overseas, he just pointed out how frustrating it it when you can't get a ticket for a venue 20 miles away yet people in south america get one! And suggesting a presale could be UK only leaving the general sale to include overseas. But i'm staying out of this... it wont end well!

Seeing as he has a connection to Brian Ray, somehow I have a feeling he will end up with a ticket...

yeah no manchs or st Helens allowed.
-
im sure when i saw Roger Waters The Wall tour his pre sale needed your post code to register so you could only get tickets to the nearest venue to you,i got great tickets in manchester a couple of years back so it may be a system they could look at.

He does promo work for Brian's band, The Bayonets.

My initial thought is that because he does promo work for Brian Ray's band, the Bayonets, I have a feeling he will end up with a ticket. And yes, Zoe, don't give up, go to the Barclaycard Arena website or to Ticketmaster.co.uk, get signed up for an account, and try again on Monday morning. Or have a friend who is computer-savvy help try to buy tickets for you. Or try to buy them over the phone. Good luck!

I don't know if it's 100% foolproof but some artists, Bruce Springsteen comes to mind, have used a paperless e-ticket in the past for access to the premium seats and the general admission pit in front of the stage. The only way you could supposedly get access to the venue was with the original ticket buyer presenting his credit card and ID at the venue gate and all ticket holders purchased on that card must enter at the same time. In fact, they are escorted into the venue! Of course if nobody bought from touts they would go bankrupt !!!

I've done paperless...depends on the show. For larger Ticketmaster shows, the ticket buyer does not have to actually attend the show; they just need to be there with their credit card so it can be swiped at the door and the purchase verified. No escorting in unless it was a GA paperless ticket and a Springsteen pit line . And I only had my ID checked once. It does make it harder for scalpers to get and sell these kinds of tickets, but I have heard that they have found ways around the system. They always seem to. Ticketless shows where there is a list of names at the door and IDs checked against the list can be done but not at an arena venue. I have been to shows like that but they have always been at theatres and small venues with only one entrance. Paperless can be a problem for the buyer because if you buy tickets and cannot go for any reason, there are no tickets you can give to your friends or family to use in your place. So it's not a perfect solution either.

I agree with points #1 & #3, but #2 makes no sense to me. Cannot limit sales for any concert to residents of a country or in the case of US, a particular state.

Was a bit weird for me. I got an email on Friday afternoon saying the O2 presale was on Sunday morning, logged in Saturday night just to check everything looked okay, and it turns out it happened on Saturday morning. Ho hum, at least there is the bunfight on Monday morning as back up. Will be there by hook or by crook but a bit weird that those of us who have been on here for years are equal to someone who signed up the same morning as the presale!

Try this link for Liverpool https//www.ticketing.accliverpool.com/echo/online/seatSelect.asp

From past experience, does anyone know if many good tickets are reserved for the general sale or are they mostly sold in the presales? Thanks in advance
