Colts owner buys Ringo Starr drum kit at auction for $2.2 million http://abc7chicago.com/entertainment/colts-owner-buys-ringo-starr-drum-kit-at-auction-for-$22-million/1110863/
Just goes to show that The Beatles popularity is not diminishing now or any time soon!
King Tut will be forgotten in history first. And, I don't see that happening either. Did I just say that The Beatles were as famous as King Tut!?

It is quite amazing how much these Ringo/Beatle items go for on the market. No way a working person like me will ever get near such collectibles!

Whoa!

So did anyone on here buy anything at the auction? I looked at some of the more reasonably priced things but by the time one added the 25% auction fee, 3% on-line fee and shipping, I just gave up looking.

No, you meant to say Jesus.
I knew you would pick up on it. ps... Jesus did say that John was the greatest on earth, but the least in heaven.

Well alright then. $2.2 million for the kit. And an additional $200-$500 to replace the snare.

Wow that's incredible how much the auction house charges. I would have loved to take over one of his Marshall amp heads or his electric drum kit.
-
I just read that the auction took in $9.2 million (and I did contribute a tiny portion to the total)

Too bad he didn't give it to Julian. HA! Maybe Julian was the buyer!

Well, as many have said, Ringo was the luckiest guy on the planet, beginning in August of 1962! "Right place, right time" (and yes, I know he had talent and charisma!)

Yes, I can't disagree with you there

Ringo's a great drummer and he played on a lot of great songs, but $2 million for a drum set is absurd.

Yes, considering the same guy just a few years ago bought one of Ringo's drumheads (JUST the drumhead!) for $2 million! The seller had bought it years before for only $80,000!!! Some people have more money than sense!
