Brainwashed George Harrison

I wasnt crazy about this when it came out , but been listening again NON STOP and IT'S AWESOME...VERY real and very simple so cool..just fyi
-
I remember thinking when I heard it was being released that I hope they don't tarnish his name, and it actually is one of the best albums in his catalog.

Always nice to see some George "love" on this board! I agree with both of your posts about Brainwashed. I was fearful that "posh" production values might overpower the music, but I think these songs reflect George's emotional, spiritual and musical maturity. "Stuck Inside a Cloud" and "Looking for My Life" are real gems. Brainwashed is an understated, beautiful album.

Incredibly happy with the Brainwashed remaster! I too was worried that the songs would lose their quality, but am quite happy with the result. The album I believe has stayed true to George and his original intentions. ------------------------------------------- R.I.P George Harrison 25th February 1943- 29th November 2001 Forevermore

It's a good album. Not George's best, but solid. "Stuck Inside a Cloud" chokes me up every time.

His 4th best album, IMO: 1. ALL THINGS MUST PASS 2. GEORGE HARRISON 3. CLOUD 9 4. BRAINWASHED I really like all the tracks, especially "Marwa Blues". Just one thing - I wish "Horse To The Water" had been included. (Perhaps it will be added to the album as a bonus track at some point.)
-
I think it's one of his best, too. Drags slightly in the middle of the second half, and the production could have been a bit less "posh," but still so many great tracks!
-
It's my all time favorite George album! When it first came out I listened to it nonstop, which I usually only do with Paul albums. I still get it out once or twice a year. It lifts my mood.

That's a good list. Going off topic for a split second, I'd add Living in the Material World to round out my list of his Top 5.

Its a middle-of-the-pack George album for me. It gets a bit preachy in spots for my tastes. The over-long title track is unlistenable to my ears anyway. It reminds me of Cloud 9 Volume 2 in a lot of ways, but not as good as Cloud 9.

I LOVE Horse to Water...esp the version that was done at the Concert for George. It's by Sam Brown & has Jools Holland playing on it. Wasn't this song first on Jools' album?

I agree, although I think THIRTY-THREE & 1/3 probably ties with LIVING IN THE MATERIAL WORLD for the #5 spot. It's a "photo finish" between the two, IMO.

Almost - it's the 2nd track on Jools Holland's 2001 album "Small World Big Band". I think it was also the last track George recorded, which gives it additional significance (as well as being a great song in its own right!).

Ha, ha! Yes, even as I was typing LIMW earlier in that post, 33 1/3 was sitting at the edge of my thoughts demanding to be considered. I love the jazzy sounds of that album.

Good album. Though I must confess I played it a lot when it first came out, but not much since then. I may have to give it another spin real soon.
