These albums looks like they contain lots of different takes of songs and are on a label called Sapple which I've never heard of. Are they bootlegs? Looks like they come from Germany/Holland for the most part on eBay and are around $200 per set. Vinyl and CDs/DVDs are included. Are they any good or just expensive junk?

Those are definitely bootlegs. The only official alternates out there, depending on your definition, are the Anthology CDs, Love, Let It Be...Naked, Yellow Submarine Songtrack, and the BBC live sets. Maybe stretching the definition of "alternate" with some of those, I know. But also, there's the "bootleg" collection that they put out officially on iTunes of alternate takes, demos, and more live BBC recordings from 1963.

I'd probably feel like a sapple for buying them.

Hi - Thanks for the replies. I got an email back from the seller and they are indeed bootlegs. The Sapple sets are expensive and typically include colored vinyl so I think I'll pass. I found the following similar Alternate bootlegs on CD and decided to gamble on a few of them. They apparently are on the "Pear" label I'm surprised they are allowed to be sold on Amazon. I'll post here if they are any good.

Are these bootlegs like, "Sour Milk Sea" or lost covers like, "Cathy's Clown"? Can you maybe demo them at YouTube? Sometimes I think the only real bootlegs are the songs that have yet to be played.

Looks pretty cool--depends on how much they're asking.

Nancy, They were about $18 each plus $4 shipping. I bought about 4 or 5 of them and will post here re the quality when I get them. It said the seller is in NY, but I suspect they are coming from Russia or something. I did buy the Russian release of the Best of Macca 1 & 2 and Best of Lennon--all double CD sets and the quality is quite good. Best of Harrison is on the way.

Nothing wrong with bootlegs. I got some good Oasis and GNR ones back in the day and even some Paul solo ones.

The only similar item I own is an alternative White Album bootleg...which includes a few songs not on the actual album...such as: Child of Nature (early working title of Jealous Guy released by John) Colliding Circles Jubilee Sour Sea Milk Hey Jude Las Vegas Tune I Hate To See the Sun Go Down Note Guilty Everyone Had A Hard Year (which was later used in part in I've Got A Feeling) Heather (as I'm sure most people know - Obviously not the same song as on Driving Rain) A Case of the Blues Happy Rishkesh Song Oh My Love There is nothing indicating what 'company' came up with this boot...and in fact there is very little in the way of liner notes except a comment that reads "All songs recorded between February 1968 and November 1968. All Songs are alternate takes with the exception of those marked* which are mono mixes"
