George's criticisms of Macca

Macsback:
I was listening to Abbey Road earlier and thought after listening to "Here comes the Sun" that maybe George should have let Ringo take the lead vocal, Ringo IMO would have added a little more fun to the song, Paul should have definitely sang Something, after all, its his Bass that actually makes the song, to keep George happy (if thats possible) George should have sang "Octopus's Garden" which is well within his vocal range.
oh yes id never thought of that mac. i was thinking about this the other day and i must say i really wonder if actually 'something' and 'here comes the sun' may actually have been lennon/mccartney songs all along.! either the big two donated these wonderful tracks to george OR infact george did a bit of his 'famous' plagurism on his former beatles. just a thought. i mean you couldnt rule it out considering what george was found guilty of with that 'my sweet lord' song.

fantastic comments Lazy, i remember reading this artical, where George almost admits to what you've suggested, here's a little snippets from the artical. "yes!! I knew what I was doing, I was struggling to make "My Sweet Lord" happen, I didn't think anyone would notice the similarities between "He's so Fine" "John at time's didn't know what was happening from one day to the next, he would come into the studio wrecked, I heard him singing a song one day, I asked John what the song was, he replied, "Here comes my Son" the following day, I asked John if he would like to work on the song from the day before, John couldn't remember, I decided to change "my son" to "the sun" "It was much easier to borrow the odd song from Paul, he would come in with 15 to 20 new songs a day, its understandable that he (Paul) would forget the odd song he wrote, lets just say, "I seen this little "Something" in the waste paper bin.

interesting stuff mac. i think its becoming quite clear now what really 'inspired' george to come accross those excellent two songs. i must say though like you that i have nothing but admiration for georges work with the beatles.im pretty sure if lennon or mccartney became pro golfers at that time george would have been an excellent caddie

When i first read the article, i was like shockerooney but it all makes sense now, maybe that was one of the reasons George was pissed at Paul after the split, no more great songs for him to pinch, then later, he had his bust up with John, John by this time was off the shit!! and woke up to the fact George was stealing his ideas.

What is the title of the article? And where was it published? I'm curious and would like to read it myself.

no problem, it might be a lot of bull but other things i read, made it look as tho, it did happen, i'm pretty sure these documents were released so the truth can be told, its strange that i can't find the site again, i guess everything will come out eventually, remember this, what do we really know about The Beatles apart from what we have been brainwashed into believing? even the anthology told us nothing.

It was also revealed, George was trying to bring it to John & Paul's attention in some of the songs he did actually write, he was sending out a message on "I want to tell You" from Revolver, its wasn't until The White Album tho that George was starting to feel guilty, "Piggies" is a term used for Cops in some countries, then of course he wrote "Long Long Long" put the two together and George knew he might get sent down for a Long Long time if it was all to come out, George tried to blank everything out by writing "Not Guilty" Paul liked this song and wanted it on the album, George put the blocks on it because he knew, he was guilty. The writer went on to say, the 4 songs mentioned were not great and didn't come close to the classic Something or Here comes the Sun, those two songs could only have been written by Lennon & McCartney, everything about them have the LenMac trademark.

Macsback: I admire both of them, George and Paul but it is true what you say that those two songs do smack of Paul and John, still doesn't prove anything really. To me all four guys were a family and just like all family they were competitive and hateful at times. Just like me and my sister. I'm thinking back and the way I remember it was that they were also isolated, trapped together by their fame. They missed out on alot and were probably angry. That might seem like a weird thing to say but it was true at the time, some of their interviews really show how out of the loop they were. (I'm thinking of Paul and John in the Playboy interview). They did not know who they could trust either. George was most effected by the loss of freedom first, then John. For what its worth I remember Paul and George each paying visits to Haight Ashbury. They were out of LA and could have relaxed in San Francisco it was that different. We all took great pride in not hasseling any musicians. But they didn't believe it and only stayed about 5 minutes (or maybe an hour but thats the same thing). They were so wrapped up in being Beatles, I guess thats why they each had to end it so dramatically. Anyway thats my 2 cents.

I guess the only thing it proves nanorama, is the true 3rd force in The Beatles was Ringo, George mentioned, he had all these songs lyin about, which he couldnt get on to Beatles albums, these songs were probably John & Pauls, with a few exception's side one & two of All things must Past could have been John & Pauls discarded ideas, yet side three (the horrible side) is more suited to George's style. I'm sure they all made peace with each other through time, it makes you wonder why it took George so long to come to terms with everything as his bitterness seemed to go on and on against mostly Paul.

I think the studio engineers would be the best ones to ask. They are not your typical George songs. But we have to believe what is said and written. so thankyou George for giving the last album some pure gold.
-
George wrote his 3 best songs as Beatle, and the contributions of McCartney are obvious on all 3 "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", great piano intro and awesome backing vocals by Macca.. "Here Comes The Sun", Paul again with awesome backing vocals and on "Something", he plays stunning bass as well as singing great backing vocals again.Ringo did a hell of a job on "Something" as well and we don't even know if Paul helped with the flow and tempo of the songs.. His advice often was taken by John.. Paul decided the tempo and direction for both "Don't Let Me Down" and "Come Together" where he completely changed the idea, with the opening bass riff and swampy organ solo.. I really enjoyed alot of George;s songs until he decided that he needed to put slide guitar on every single fing track!!!!

Yeah. Its like most musicians, they need a mother hen to tell them: "Honestly dear, don't do that" every once in a while.

The article you are mentioning sounds very interesting, and it does bring up some intriguing points. However, I'm afraid I can't put much stock into a piece without a link and/or proper attribution. Who says that George said such things? The writer? So who is he, since I've never heard this idea raised from anyone else? And as for the whole 'George didn't want to include "Not Guilty" because he actually felt guilty,' was this yet another George quote or something the writer came up with?

When i first read the article, i was taken aback by what i was reading, i wish i had copied it so i could have posted the full article on here, there were 7 pages in total if i remember correctly, to be honest, i dont think it was meant for the public's eyes, that might explain the reason i can't find the site again, I have the authors name on the tip of my tongue and will post it asap when it comes back to me.

What a load of ridiculous bull crap--John and Paul would NEVER have let go of some of their best songs, let them get "pinched" right from under their noses by George! I smell a rat. Somebody's making up stuff, for a lark. Some outrageous allegations being made about Harrison, who was very talented in his own right and btw, I love his singing voice. It's hard to believe, some of this malarky, and I don't believe it. What a bunch of bollocks as you Brits say :
-
Didn't the first line, Something in the way she moves, come from either a James Taylor song or and Eric Clapton song?
-
From a James Taylor song.

SusyLuvsPaul:
From a James Taylor song.
so Clapton & Taylor could be involved as well? this is getting more intriguing as we go on, well done Susy for pointing this out, Clapton & Taylor were mentioned in the article, i'd be lying tho, if i was to say, yeah they were involved, as i can't remember. one things for sure, if Susy's hunch is correct, we could have a major conspiracy on our hands.
