New Ringo Starr Album (2017)
-
Perhaps this may be uneventful for some but of interest to others. I figured I'd kick off a discussion topic on the upcoming Ringo Starr album that he is currently writing/recording right now. He usually does not release albums in back to back years but had a few years of every couple of years; hence the 2017 suggestion. More than likely its gonna be along the lines of Ringo 2012 and Postcards from Paradise; the stripped back production that Dave Stewart and Ringo have been going for since Y-Not. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Yes, and it's probably going to clock in at an astonishing 23 minutes, will feature at least one song about his past (complete with a badly-rhymed mention of "fab") and a remake of the overlooked 1977 classic "A mouse like me" And you know what, I'm still gonna buy it
-
Haha...ME TOO!
-
I'll still buy it but feel that last couple have been pretty lacklustre. I think his recent high points were around the late 90s/early 2000s with Vertical Man/RingoRama when he teamed up with Mark Hudson. Wish they would patch up their friendship and get back in the studio together!

with the 1st single Selfie (updated Photograph) " I was born poor in Liverpool couldn't afford a selfie , now I'm happy and wealthy"

Ringo has been much more prolific than Paul lately. Paul needs to get going.

Lol, or he'll do an update of the No No Song to honor his LGBT activism: "A guy I know came down from Raleigh, NC He smiled because I did not understand Then he held out some concert tickets, oh ho He said it was the best show in all the land And I said no no no, I don't play there no more I'm tired of HB2 laws reaching the floor No thank you please, it only makes me whiz And then it's hard to pick the right bathroom door"

I couldn't agree more. Vertical Man and Ringo Rama were fantastic. The last couple have left a lot to be desired, but I'll still continue to buy them of course. I think he must have a quota that he has to reference "It Don't Come Easy" once on every album.

I hope he does an all gangsta rap album with Ice-T, Ice Cube, Lil' Kim and Rakim. Dre could produce it with Glen Ballard or Daryl Dragon.

I wish the rumours from the early 2000's were true and he recorded a country-ish album. Supposedly a couple of other big names were involved. He loves that music, he's always done a few and his voice works well in the style. Might have been an interesting project. Maybe in a Wilbury's style format.

I totally agree. I bought Postcards (of course....) I listened to it once or twice. I simply don't like the sound. It sound so clean, if you know what I mean. (That could have been one of Ringos's lyrics ) Country-stlye would be great. Or a kind of Jeff Lynne production

I rather like Postcards, and listen to it from time to time.

Sounds exciting. It's amazing that Paul and Ringo at their age to be still recording and performing. Their careers are keeping them young.

Sounds like Ringo will be doing another US leg in October and it sounds as if he is most definitely interested in reviving that country album, maybe next year! Sounds like we could finally be getting a new record from Paul in 2017 too...and the touring? Doesn't sound like that will ever stop (nor will the show change)...wonder if the name will if he announces a new LP next year though? That should shake up about 30% of the setlist.
