Great cover track. Wish it was on Beatles for Sale instead of Mr. Moonlight.

This track alone makes it necessary for me to get the Anthology 1 on vinyl. thats some good stuff. I agree Hawkeye, I think it would have been great on B4S, although its a little less commercial than what they chose. its such a pure Lennon rocker. I told you big fat bulldog! you better leave her alone. http://www.optimumchoices.com/images/BP-Bulldog%2Bkitten.bmp

Love this song, Lennon nails it. Great jam song when you're playing with a couple of friends.

True, but Lennon does a great vocal on "Mr. Moonlight" and he obviously loved to sing it, so.... There would have been room for both, actually. I wish they had recorded a studio version of "Dose of Rythm and Blues." Lennon's blow-torch vocal on that one on Anthology...(or is it "Live at the BBC"?) is one I would have loved to hear on a proper album.

That's also true of "Soldier of Love." Great one.

This is a fantastic track, I was amazed when I heard it, how could it be 'held in storage' for so long?

Yeah I mean anyone who thinks anyone else can do that as well as John is a complete.... well let's just say they have another thing coming. Lennon whoops them all. You here that little falsetto bit when he takes it up a notch high? Please. The Beatles without Lennon's whooping stick are just like every other two bit delicious pop group. Monkees, Turtles, Hermies Hermits, the Byrds... Let's hear them kill Kitten like that. I will say though McCartney could break out the whooping stick too. His Long Tally Sally is as good as that songs ever been done. Or the ultra impressive Besame Mucho bit from Let It Be. I mean for all their brilliance as song writers, their originality and prowess in covering classic tracks and making their versions the definitive versions.. That's as impressive to me. To me John even whoops Elvis in that department. And I'd venture to say Elvis knew it at the time when he heard it going down. Though Audi especially might not agree with that statement

I like Kitten. It's a fun tune. Where else would you hear Lennon say: "big fat bulldog" classic I really like Lennon's vocals and his rhythm guitar. Even George's 'work in progress' guitar solo is kind of cool. But should it be on Beatles For Sale. No. It might have made a good b-side though. Actually it was to be issued as a single for the Sessions LP in 1985

Kitten is a good cover but Beatles for Sale had way too many covers, which really ruins the "feel" of the album. They pale considerably to the L&M originals. No wonder its on many people's worst album list. IMO, its a travesty that the McCartney original "From a Window" was not included on this album. It would have fit in perfectly.

Slightly off topic but Beatles for Sale suffered slightly from a burn out which is understandable considering the year of 1964. I would have put Kitten in place of Kansas City/Hey Hey in my opinion

If you think Kitten is good, just listen to Lennon rip it in Slow Down. To me one of the greatest all out rockers he ever sang.

Very familiar with it Randy, and I do like it a lot. its got some great moments, cool song. Kitten is really hard core though, just a touch above Slow Down for me. here's the cut for people who wanna hear

Heres a cool vid of the Beatles doing 'You Can't Do That'. vid shot for AHDN movie that never made the film as the song was considered 'racy' or something. great song though, looked like the band enjoyed jamming that one. and how could you not!?
and this one gets me too, great version w spector
